More OSU Recruiting Fallout. EDIT Also a WR for 2012

Submitted by GunnersApe on

More news from the fall of OSU. A 2011 commit Ejuan Price a Scout 4* Rivals 3* LB wants out.

"He just didn't feel any stability there even before [Jim] Tressel resigned," Novak said.

Iowa mentioned as a landing spot.

They also lost their supposed 2012 4* scout WR from GA.

From 11W:

JaQuay Williams is not a Buckeye. Sandy Greek (GA) WR JaQuay Williams made his announcement yesterday and the lifelong Buckeye fan chose Auburn over OSU. Yes, you read that right, Williams grew up his entire life as a Buckeye fan after growing up in the Pittsburgh area, but chose the Tigers due to their wide receiver coach, proximity to home, and the fact that he didn't feel as comfortable with Ohio State after Jim Tressel resigned.

Very true, but it seems like he's been a UM & OSU battle from the beginning and he's a lifelong buckeye fan, so not a whole lots gonna change there. Madaris doesn't have an offer yet and seems to want one. And let's be honest, MSU can't compete with Ohio for recruits like we seem to be doing.

Kind of odd that Price would say this:

As he prepared to play in this week’s Big 33 Football Classic, an annual all-star game pitting Ohio’s top high school players against Pennsylvania’s elite, linebacker Ejuan Price from Woodland Hills (Pa.) High School said nothing has shaken his commitment to go to Ohio State. “I know what kind of people they are,” Price said. “Everybody makes mistakes. They’re still good people.”

in an article just posted on Rivals.com and then turn around and de-commit so suddenly.

This same quote from Price about not shaking his commitment was in a Washington Post article this morning.  I mentioned it in a fark post, and then it was pointed out to me that the quote was no longer in the article.

Here's a link in case you want to read about the Post's view of Ohio State's potential recruiting trouble:  http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/colleges/ohio-states-scandal-could-open-door-for-other-schools-in-the-battle-for-high-school-recruits/2011/06/15/AG7hODWH_story_1.html  (Not sure whether this will link to the version with or without the Price quote at the end of the second page.)

Auburn pulls in yet another lock or a decommit from another school.  What a shock.  I'm sure there's no funny business going on there though.

Price asking for his release has been expected for awhile. His decision in more likely due to his cousin Dorian Bell (The 5* OSU LB who was suspended for the year for hitting the chronic too much)

I could see 2011 OSU commits getting jumpier than the 2012 ones. The 2011s are likely facing at least two years without bowls, plus three different head coaches in three seasons, plus all the rest of the crap and uncertainty. That's a bad deal, especially to kids who a few months ago were counting on four seamless years of vests and title-games.

Does someone have a list of 2011 commits who weren't born Scarlet? They're the ones to watch this summer.

EDIT: Are 2011 allowed to transfer without sitting out a year? Or do kids get to do that only after the program is officially deemed guilty?

Price actually tried to decommit on NSD. He was going to go to Pitt instead, but Tressel convinced him to stick with the Buckeyes. I don't blame him for wanting out.
