Doug Karsch Agrees More to Come for OSU

Submitted by MGoCooper on

On Karsch&Anderson today, Doug said that there would be more information out on Ohio State next week. Given that there have been conflicting reports about the accuracy of the rumored SI article, this seems to give more validity to the possibility. Normally most of us take 97.1 information with a grain of salt, but Doug is usually pretty knowledgeable about college football in general.

Only before the conjuction.

Not sure if any of you just heard, or if it had already been posted{actually should be a comma here]. But(  ,  ) Doug Karsch(  ,  ) just said on his radio show, "wait until next week" and there would be more info about OSU coming out. Now[ actually should be a comma here] usually I take 97.1 people with a grain of salt, but(  ,  ) Doug Karsch knows a great deal about things going on in college football. I found this interesting (  ,  ) because there was a bit of confusion (  ,  ) whether or not the rumored Sports Illustrated information would be coming out next week. Again, sorry if this has been posted already, [ but] I checked and couldn't find if it had.

There are other errors, but since you mentioned conjunctions and the use of commas...

Firstly, it's considerably annoying when people correct grammar on sports forums. There was never a point in the post where I claimed that it was going to be 100% grammatically correct, nor did I intend it to be. I type the way I think I suppose, 5 years in the Army is likely to blame for that. When you were parlaying messages and what not, you didn't have time to properly to think thuroughly.

You're saying that while serving our country you weren't focused on whether your comma usage would please people on a sports blog?   If this is true I am going to say, "Well, I never..." in the voice of a rich old English woman and then faint.

get a life.  Grammar smarts is not street nor business smarts.  Its just pitiful way to express yourself.  Sorry missed a comma.

While, not related to the supposed SI report coming out next week, here's some jiucy news that came out today.  Here's a link to one of many reports:

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/05/26/ex-buckeye-wr-ray-small-doesnt-see-why-its-a-big-deal-players-sold-rings-got-car-deals/related

Former Buckeye WR Ray Small (2006-10) confirmed that he and other unnamed members of the OSU football team sold their B10 rings and received discounts on cars.

Small told The Lantern that, when it comes to the deals on cars, “I don’t see why it’s a big deal.”  Small added that some student-athletes at the school “don’t even think about (NCAA) rules”, which is certain to make the skin of every member of the OSU compliance department crawl.

Yay!

Let's see....Ohio recruited its players by getting them paid and laid; then there are the "loaner" cars they got ticketed in (imagine how many had them and didn't get caught); then they got special tat and car deals; and finally, they beat us concealing that they played ineligible guys.

I'm thinking, do we need to wait until May 31 to know the Ohio program is dirty?

This isn't about one guy, like SC and Bush. It's about the whole stinking, fetid mess that they have down there. Lack of institutional control?

Ha! The inmates are running that asylum!

I propose a simple solution: Boot them from the B1G. I mean it. Get rid of them. They're idiots. Don't wait for the NCAA. The other B1G teams are the ones they messed with in recruiting and on the field. It is the B1G that should decide their fate.

Replace them with someone else. Let them go independent or join the SEC, I don't care. We can play Notre Dame or someone else at the end of the year.

The loss of being able to participate inThe Game would be the best punishment for them. Who cares about taking away their past glories, that hardly matters. It's the future that counts.

As I posted before....

I do not know when or if an article comes out, or how much dirt it will include, but I have from two very legitimate sources

1) A lawyer with the NCAA rules committee

2) Father of a current OSU player (Dad is friend of my dad)

That shit is about to hit the fan like never before....This goes beyond the cars, tats, and housing as has already been discussed.  The FBI and IRS have been snooping around for the past 6 months.  Corruption includes

Pay for play

Girls paid to sleep with recruits and players

Players selling drugs (not an isolated incident)

Ted Ginn Sr. receiving kickbacks from OSU

Everything you mentioned is believable except the part about girls being paid to sleep with players. If that were actually happening on a pervasive level, there would have at least been a story or a whisper about it by now from one of the poor girls involved. Unless we're talking about high-end escort services whose business is discretion (and I doubt there are very many of those in Columbus), the use of prostitutes or prostitution rings in recruiting would be a difficult thing to keep secret for very long.

Unless things have radically changed since I was in school you wouldnt need to pay anyone.  All you'd have to do is ask girls "hey...do you want to escort stud, ripped star famous athlete around campus for a night?" and then let nature take its course.

I'm with you in calling BS on that one.  Actually i think the "pay for play" probably IS happening but St. Jim is blissfully unaware of such tomfoolery.  Happily ignorant.

Exactly what is was thinking too. You could even tell the hostesses (or whatever you want to call them) that they are not supposed to do anything sexual - "wink wink", and I am sure it will happen anyway. It's a pretty safe bet that all the girls involved are hardcore groupie types that are jumping at the opportunity to swallow some OSU recruit semen . . .

I'm not saying I believe you, but you have been pasting this post into virtually every thread on the Ohio sanctions and your vigilence has started to sway me. Christ, if half your "report" is true I think all three musketeers are finished at Ohio.

I am sharing what I have heard from two very reliable sources close to the info.  Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, depending on your perspective), I am not a primary source here, so I can not absolutely, positively, 100% verify any details.  I also have no idea when and if all this stuff comes out.  What I can say, and assure you of is this....This is not mere internet rumor mongering, and the sources are legit and close to the action...

NCAA lawyer

Player's Dad

I do not have details on how money changed hands, how girls were paid or influenced to sleep with the athletes, or who was selling drugs.  What has been shared with me is that the corruption was far beyond car deals and merchandise sales.

Frankly, I am not that surprised, and don't understand why anybody is like "No Way".  This stuff is not that OMG shocking when you look at Tressel's history.   There was plenty of smoke from Tressel's Youngstown days, the Clarret debacle, Troy Smith, etc.....Simply because these incidents were buried by the media and overshadowed by OSU's on field success, does not mean they never occurred.  The corruption is very much in line with Tressel's history, the getting caught and exposed nationally part is all that's new.  The shock is not that the violations occurred, it is simply a surprise that he was finally exposed.  If not for the silver bullet of an email record, the vest may have remained bullet-proof.

The preist was always dipping into the donation plate and fondling the choir boys....

He just finally got caught.
