OT: Lil Wayne Concert
it was an awsome concert and I saw morris and morgan there. Also I saw Draymond Green, im not sure if they were all together. All of young money was there, Rick Ross, Travis Barker, and Birdman were some of the big name guests, and of course nicki minaj.
YMCMB
it's pretty special when you have the great denard as a fan
(as your avatar also shows)
I just had to make that my new avatar
He was also in attendence, showed up a little late tho and couldnt get to his seat so he just stood to the side and was just jamming to himself for like 10 minutes
Then 2 blondes showed up out of nowwhere and started grinding on him
Oh the life of a footbll player......
If anyone's earned it, it's Obi.
Edit: Your new avatar is awesome.
Yeah he definitely deserves it
as a sidenote. I saw Mike Martin just before the concert at Slows, it was a pretty great day all around

Yeah... I wish I was him. Or Lil Wayne... oh why didn't I become a football playing rapper?
how long have you been waiting to use that picture ? lol
<15 sec
You get a standing ovation for the post. And if I were your advisor, I'd tell you to hunt down those that negged you and have your son Hannibal take care of their rude behavior! :P
and he tweeted something about metro-Detroit being the best stop on his tour-pretty cool. I saw B.o.B in Cinci-now that was something else.
Really, how was it? B.o.B and KiD CuDi are awesome.
He did Airplanes (w/out Eminem sadly), Satellite, and rocked out to MGMT's "Kids"-unexpected but nonetheless awesome.
Nice! I want to see him and Cudi in concert so bad.
Cudi is done with the sticky-icky, says it's time to head down a new road. http://www.hotnewhiphop.com/en/view-article-detail/522/
Glad he's happy with that. I don't really care as long as he makes good music. Which I know he will
Lupe broke out a punk rock song, which was kinda strange, but it worked. He also broke out the Tim Hardaway Jr jersey (as seen by my avatar).
By the way:
1. Em
2. Lupe
3. Cudi
4. Wiz
5. BoB
Have you ever heard of a dude named Shawn Carter? How about 2pac Shakur? Christopher Wallace? Those 3 along with Marshal Mathers are most certainly the 4 greatest mc's of all-time.
People's gangster, it's just funny when I see someone put a list together that has lupe number 2 of all-time. Think Lupe makes good music but these lists just crack me up..
Where did I ever say all-time? That list is clearly current artists only
But where is jay? Where is Wayne? Where is Dre from outkast? Where is nas? Where is about 20 other dudes????? How old are you? I guess that's to be taken into consideration.
20
And those are just the ones I like, I like mainstream hip hop, so sue me. Wayne is probably number 6, might actually be number 5 over BoB now that I think about it. I'm not too big on more hardcore rap.
You have to take into account that when I posted that this thread was about Lil Wayne, Cudi, Lupe, and BoB. So the mainstream angle to this thread was already there.
Im not mad at you. If that's what you like that's what you like. That's great. I just get crazy when I see these lists without the greats. Also, there is a huge difference between rap and hip-hop. Some of the artists in your list fall under the rap category and some hip-hop.
I think those cats are talented but that list is just insanity.
This is the worst top 5 list I've ever seen in my life unless you're naming your top 5 mainstream rappers of the last five years. Even then it still sucks.
So I like mainstream hip hop, I also like Star Wars and Michigan football and other "mainstream garbage". I've never understood why people hate on stuff because it is mainstream. Sure a lot of people liking it doesn't make it the best, but if a lot of people like it then there has to be something to it.
And what mainstream artists of the last couple years make this list so terrible?
I wouldn't say there is anything necessarily terrible about mainstream. In fact, I would say that groups like Wu and Tribe are mainstream, but most mainstream artists, unlike the groups I mentioned, are content not to push the envelope too much, lest they alienate their fans; fans who a want a certain formula because it is familiar - i.e, catchy hooks, bland, recycled concepts and lyrics, and accessible, formulaic beats. The artists you mentioned seem very much in the Hip Hop politician mold, in that, they stick to a certain formula to ensure votes, and never say or do anything particularly new, which, for me, is neither worth my time or money. But, good music is relative, and, while I respect the fact that you and other people respect these artists, I can think of 50 or more current hip hop artists that are more skilled and more interesting than the ones you listed.
Thanks for the heads up. Already downloaded In the Jaws of the Lords of Death and Solar Midnite.
No wonder I had not heard Solar Midnite before though, the only place it was on iTunes was in some Twilight album haha, thank god for mediafire.
pretty good concert.
I remember you mentioned something about being a XU grad student before. And yeah, it was legit.
but kinda hard to beat peace corps concerts where all the proceeds go to Sierra Leone (Lupe)
one thinking it. Mainstream hiphop (and pretty much all genres) is so garbage now. Eminem's new stuff, anything with B.O.B, lil wayne... it all sucks.
Most of B.o.B's good songs are off mixtapes. He's a great rapper, but most people only appreciate his generic stuff. Listen to some of his mixtapes.
appreciate his generic stuff. As for the mixtapes, probably not for me but I'll see.
the South... The Drrrrty South!
Yes, I was waiting for someone to go there. Childish Gambino has been impressing the hell out of me lately. Also, in that vein, I would recommend Das Racist. And where's the love for Dilla, Outkast, Wu-Tang (all iterations), and MF Doom? Or more old school types like NWA and Biz Markie (probably the funniest man in hip hop history).
Hip-Hop was dead a LONG time ago. When Biggie, Pac, Big L, Pun, Easy, Guru, and ODB died, when Cube, Rakim, Quik, Tribe Called Quest, Nas, KRS One started to call it quits that's when rap was done. I respect Lupe because he actually raps about real stuff, but I'm tired of Lil' Wayne talking about how he has to go to the bathroom all the time, or how he needs to mention that life is a bitch because he says it in every song. Old School Rap will forever be better than what is being made today.
I think it's safe to say, if some of those greats were still alive and kicking, Lil Wayne would be working at Burger King
