I'll come clean: I posted it with the intent that it would turn into something, but there was no organization or planning behind it. I simply posted it and waited to see what happened. Definitely didn't think it would go viral so quickly or there would be such a good turnout, but something needed to be done.
And the fact that it did "become a thing" shows just how united students, alumni and fans are against Dave Brandon right now.
Has anyone ever contacted Chat Sports about this? I get that these random BS rumors drive traffic, but curious as to what the people "in charge" over there have to say.
Just look at the IU game. Half the bleachers were filled with people who had seemingly never been to a game before. Lining up early doesn't mean you're getting the best fans.
They eliminated the tent for the IU game and started putting a cop out there as a bouncer for the line, but it was still a shitshow. The steps of Michigan Stadium were trashed by all of the drunks out there. Was embarrassing to see.
Have they actually implemented any alternative systems? As far as I know, it's simply been based on credits rather than actual attendance. I know they threw the idea out there of factoring HAIL points into the formula, but that wouldn't have worked given the cell phone issues on game day (and the idea that not everybody has a smart phone).
Personally, I would take a system that uses overall attendance, how early you show up to games and credit hours over general admission. Freshmen and new students would have to build up their points, but it beats overcrowding sections and the issues with camping out.
I get why they made the change (encourage people to show up early), but I don't think they thought this one through. A lot of people didn't sit in their exact seat to begin with, but now you're taking all boundaries in terms of sections away, which will result in people jamming into the sections closer to the sideline/farther down near the field. So you're still going to end up with empty seats in the upper deck, but you will also have lower sections overflowing with people.
Also, camping out is going to be a huge problem. It was absolute chaos for basketball games. Obviously not everybody is going to get out there the night before or anything, but you're going to have to have event staff people out there to maintain the peace if basketball is any indication.
The solution here was to come up with a better system that rewards people for attending games/getting there early/seniority/etc., not make it GA.
Kentucky offered him. Guessing it was a mistake on his profile where it had him naming them his leaders. No stories or quotes even close to that as far as I can tell.
Experience around the stadium exceeded my expectations, but the seats were awful. Do not ever get tickets in the B deck. Half the field was obstructured and we couldn't even see the scoreboards. Just an awful setup.
Made my first trip to Purdue this weekend, and I have to say it was one of the most pathetic atmospheres I've ever seen at any football game. Aside from the empty seats (and there were plenty), the cheers were just sad. My personal favorite was when they played the ripped off "Go Purdue" version of "Let's Go Blue" with the band sitting right next to the Michigan section. Michigan fans took it over since it is our song and they never played it again.
The funniest thing of all was at the end of the game, some student was running up and down in front of the student section with a flag that literally said "WAVE" on it. He was trying to get them to do the wave. It failed.
I didn't mean like buying season tickets, but rather on an individual basis. If I have an MCard to transfer somebody's tickets to, how would they know I'm not a student anymore?
Will never happen for football. 2K is struggling as is and has eliminated every sports game except NBA. Don't see them trying to go head-to-head with EA in college football.
This has been a running theme with DB since he became AD. Just look at the jerseys last year. He said it'd be a one-time thing to change the jerseys, and we ended up with how many different unis last year? Five by the end of the season. Frankly, I never trust anything he says. He's proven to be a liar to the fan base, as we are now seeing yet again.
They didn't go to any of the games out west. Those were actually away games, though. Difference here is this is a neutral-site game and the plan all along was for the band to go until whatever happened to make that change.
Difference is Ohio State's game at Texas was an away game. This is a neutral-site game. If it was at Alabama I could understand. But the freaking contract has seats reserved for the band. They should be there and this should've been in the budget from day one.
I have no idea why they do it. It's beyond annoying. We don't need live play-by-play from radio announcers in the freaking stadium. It's bad enough that they talk over everything and are inaccurate, but having Brandstatter out there throwing players under the bus is ridiculous.
I'm pretty sure the empty seats in the upper deck end zone are student tickets. They were empty for the MSU game because 200 people hadn't even picked up their tickets yet. Students not showing up results in empty seats in the overflow section.
Would definitely be interested in hearing just how much of a discount it would be. Was actually considering flying out of Columbus since it had the cheapest rates (as of last week; it doesn't currently). Figured that'd be better than driving all the way to Chicago, although going out of Detroit would obviously be the best plan if the price is right.
The backup date is for weather only. They're not going to move the game just because Michigan's bowl is on Jan. 1. This is the NHL's event, not Michigan's.
Michigan bussed a group of students to the State game at Breslin last year (I want to say around 50). Not sure if they're doing it again this year, though.

But are those new goal posts in the background of the Butler picture? They were white before, correct?

Out of curiosity, who's your provider?
Loved the scoreboard improvements. Went the entire game without service, though. (I have Sprint, FWIW.)
How was the cell service/data for those of you with Verizon/AT&T?
And yet it will continue to be the only section of the stadium that consistently makes noise and creates any kind of homefield advantage.

Beyond stupid.
Both for the sake of your kid and the people around you, don't take a two-year old to the game. Not like he's going to remember it anyway.

Not only that, but for later games, you're not going to get to see any of the earlier games if you have to line up early.

Relatively speaking, all-session tickets are going for pretty cheap on the NCAA's official ticket exchange site: http://www.primesport.com/e/Sports/NCAA-Mens-Final-Four-Tickets/Georgia…

Pinstripe Bowl and Kraft Hunger/Holiday Bowl in, Gator Bowl and Heart of Dallas Bowl out is my guess.
I want Vandy in the Gator Bowl. Do not want to listen to Miss State's cowbells again.

That's for basketball, not football.
We better not actually wear those Baylor-esque shoes for a game. Is it that hard to keep a consistent color scheme?
"It wasn't invented at Michigan or anything."
Uh, yes, yes it was: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1122081/inde…

Seemed more like a MAC program than Big Ten.
Saturday, Sept.
Per MGoBlue:
Saturday, Sept. 8 -- Michigan vs. Air Force, 3:30 p.m. EDT
Pregame Flyover:
• Three University of Michigan Helicopters
• Eagle Flyover During National Anthem -- Challenger
• B-2 Stealth Bomber

So for people who recently graduated and want tickets in the student section and have a valid MCard, what does this mean?
Indiana game is during spring break as well. Stupid Big Ten
He wasn't cleared to play for Hawaii, so he's at a JUCO in Arizona.
Will never happen for football. 2K is struggling as is and has eliminated every sports game except NBA. Don't see them trying to go head-to-head with EA in college football.
One non-spring break home game the last two months of the year? Jeez.
Can't find the link, but I believe there was a change in the TV contract allowing BTN to start broadcast 3:30 games.
The Packers' bye is when we play Northwestern at home, so that's probably Woodson's only chance to be honored this season.
Agree with this. Could market it as the banner-raising game. Personally, I hope it's the regular season home opener.

That's got nothing to do with this story. It's about some student/diversity protest.

It's official:
Probably referring to track and field, swimming and the like. Basically the only venues that haven't been renovated in the last decade.
Agreed. If Kozan is this uncertain about where he wants to go, I'd wish him the best and move on.

Not true. We're hosting the Grand Rapids regional. BGSU has Toledo.
Where did Northern Michigan come from? Humans have them ranked 19th. Oh, PairWise.

This was from the Saturday game. I'm assuming it was the hit on Guptill.
