Spring practice Highlights (2:20)
I haven't seen this video here, sorry if already posted
Edit: Embed fail, here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPNnbQwGs98
Sorry, I saw one 1:50 spring video below and another 7ish minute long video from rivals, but @michigan_fball tweeted this one a few minutes ago and I didn't recall seeing it, sorry if I messed up
is this some sort of meta joke that i am not getting?
Urban was there?!?! But he's the next coach of tsio!!!!!! He's going to steal ALL of our plays!!!!!! ALL CAPS RAGE!!!
Man I love how good Devin Gardner looks. I wonder if he'll play this year a little bit? Is it inconceivable that he could be as good in this system as Denard? I know this is blasphemy, and I hope Denard proves me wrong and puts up mega-numbers and stops his turnovers against the better teams, but the dude DG just looks SO smooth.
Also a good looking burst there from Cox... Why is he the only guy with his name on the back of his jersey?
Marvin Robinson had his name on the back of his jersey.
Kovacs had it too. I think they are testing out all the different types of jerseys this spring.
Yeah, Devin's gonna be good...
He's going to eat this Borges system up.
I actually think it is more likely than not (assuming Devin gets his redshirt) that we have the best QB in the conference for each of the next four seasons.
And that's pretty cool.
...but if Devin can throw better - particularly down field, he will get some playing time. Seems like Denard needs to put everything he has into a throw where Devin makes less effort to accomplish the same passes.
Who is #18?
Jihad Rasheed (yep, real name), RS frosh from Southeastern (detroit)
Thank you sir
What the hell is up with the tiny/skinny font on Marvin's away jersey?
Nitpicking, but I'm not in love with having an M above the players' nameplates, as in Gardner's uniform. For basketball it works, but I think the football home jerseys are better off plain.
I really like the looks of those new jerseys but I would like to see an M on the shoulders like back in the early 90's. I think that looked awesome.
I'm a fan of that small M personally, but it's a purely aesthetic choice so there isn't much point to debating.
Michael Cox with the 65-yard touchdown run! Woohoo!
Scrimmage footage always gives me mixed feelings. One the one hand, Cox's run was awesome and the blocking was great. On the other hand, that means the O just destroyed the D. I don't know who to root for!
You want them to stop every single play. No questions asked.
I dunno, then we get the 'Denard can't run a pro-style offense' talk.
But yea, I am all about watching the D improve.
Yeah, I want to say that there's an mgoposter who's often been saying this is the guy to look out for....Now who was that?
Blazefire. He loves Cox.
Thanks. I searched for his Cox posts to see what he's been saying and noticed he gets a lot more attention for his picture than his thoughts on running backs. Anyway, I'll be glad if he's right about Cox.
blazefire just got brimleyed!
the better! That's what I always say!
What? You were expecting some sort of in depth commentary?
Mike Cox has looked very impressive in spring thus far. Lets hope he can grasp the offense better this year, I think he can be a difference maker for us.
Cox looked good on that run. It was nice to see Big Will take down Hopkins in the backfield also. Marvin Robinson also had a great play about half way through the video. Man I love seeing these videos!
Nice penetration and takedown by BWC at 0:56.
Who is QB #14?
the only #14 listed is Teric Jones, and i highly doubt that is him.
Brian Griese.
Bastard.
Brian Griese.
Dick.
Brian Griese.
He was not Teric Jones, and looked taller than Jack Kennedy's 5'-11" stature. There is a 4th QB on the roster, RS Junior, Steve Wilson, #4 - but he is the same height as Jack ...
Looked strong and fast. I wonder how much weight he has put on. Looked strong. DG looks nice, but I love seeing Denard under center! That roll out is going to be a nightmare. Everyone yelled "Pass"...Playaction is going to be sick this year!
Couple of plays that also caught my eye, nice PBU by Christian, and that handoff to Grady, he's elusive...
I think that was actually 18, Jihad Rashid (sp?) and not Grady who had the nice elusive td scamper.
I think you are correct. Anyone else excited to see some Jordan Barpal action (#35)?
Unfortunately, Cullen's PBU was followed immediately by touchdown-inflicting missed tackle.
Some media practice reports that I read from the other day said that Cox was lining up with the 1's with McColgan. That would be an impressive rise for him, but not that big of a surprise with the change in the offense. With his nice YPC average, even though it is against lesser competition, it would be nice to see him continue towards being a nice back in our system.
I have also read some reports of Hopkins and V. Smith in I Formation. I wonder what situation would call for that duo.
Third-and-long.
They are good pass-catchers out of the backfield. I'm not too sure on the ability of Cox or Shaw in this regard.
Shaw has pretty good hands, but I'm not sure about Cox. He had one bad drop that I saw on film this spring (although I forget which video). I don't know if they've ever thrown the ball to him in a game.
Could swear I saw him making a nice catch out of the backfield on the highlight vid from a day or two ago. Borges loves to throw to the backs and if he (or anyone else) can become a reliable pass catcher I think that guy will jump right to the top of the depth chart.
