It might be immoral, but it's not illegal, unlike money laundering.

Regarding the guru dad, they're deliberately writing him to be fake-profound. I mean, he named his daughters Antigone and Athena, but says Athena is the goddess of love. If this were a conventional series, I totally would have him pegged to be evil and behind the disappearance of the girl.

I think that's a function of this season being set in LA County. The road and real estate are going to be a big part of the story. I like the noir feeling they're bringing by focusing on the setting. Then again, I'm also a Michael Mann fan, so I don't mind the sweeping montage-esque shots.

Those souvenirs often just end up in a junk drawer or getting tossed, but the only two things I kept: (1) a simple glass Christmas ornament embossed with the names of the bride and groom & the wedding date; (2) a bottle of sparkling wine with a customized label depicting the bride & groom.

You must be young. Early in the history of the internet, Simmons actually started as a blogger about his favorite Boston teams ("The Sports Guy"), writing about sports mixed in with pop culture, which became so popular that it made ESPN notice and scoop him up. They actually created "Page 2" to showcase his column and other writers who were bloggers more than reporters. He left for a while to write for the Jimmy Kimmel show, but I think he didn't like the pressure of having to churn out jokes everyday without fail, so he came back to ESPN.
Like him or not, he's shown himself to be a good judge of trends, using podcasts early on, seeing the potential of using ESPN's film library for those documentaries, etc. I think ESPN will be fine without Simmons, but Simmons could also probably start something new on his own that will definitely get attention thanks to his savvy and the talent he could draw. I don't read him any more, but his early columns were some of the funniest things you could find online, even if you weren't a sports fan.

I don't think it's about the money. He probably wanted more autonomy to criticize the NFL and NBA, and the suits at ESPN would never allow that.

Or "I am ANGAR" when you're so hopping mad, that you turn into the avatar of anger. I use this in my real life all the time.

I don't mind the national anthem, but I hate that they've replaced the seventh inning stretch with "God Bless America" since 9/11/2001.

I don't understand the people who wait in line to go buy water, bread and milk. I've got 3 cases of wine; I hope it lasts 48 hours.

Can someone make a short excerpt of the section that begins at 27:00 where he breaks the overhead and continues his, "I must win" mantra? It's inspirational. And by inspirational, I mean hilarious.

You'd have a point if we had more than 6 commits for next year's class so far.

There were two threads last night, and the second one got deleted. The first one is still viewable on the mobile app, which is probably why it keeps increasing.

Those misguided comments on the Times article makes me think those people would be better served spending more time reading MGoBlog.

Agreed. I just told my BF who has been staying off of the blog and out of this debacle for the most part, and his immediate reaction to this was, "Brandon should shoot himself."

Is there a way to sort the posts so that the oldest responses show up at the top? I like to read chronologically, since I'm usually catching up after the discussion has occurred.

I came by my fanship through my boyfriend, who is a Michigan grad, but grew up in East Lansing. His entire extended family is divided between Michigan and MSU, and they are lovely people, but their inner spartiness crops up from time to time. I chose my MGoUsername as a counterpoint to the "walmart wolverine" theme because I went to an ivy league school and wanted to express that being a fan of Michigan is a conscious choice and not just bandwagoning.

Yes, and it was made into a French movie, a well-paced, tense thriller.

Most of the 30 for 30 docs are available for streaming. I tend to watch a lot of the British TV series, such as "MI-5," the Poirot & Marple mysteries, etc., as they're just nice to have on in the background while I'm working around the house. In my queue, but haven't started yet, because I want to devote my full attention to it, is "Twin Peaks."
I second the recommendation of "The Fall," and would add "Prime Suspect" (the original with Helen Mirren), "Inspector Lynley," "George Gentley" and "Foyle's War" if you like mysteries.

Apparently, the reason Kerrigan declined to participate is that NBC is producing its own version of the story to air during the Sochi olympics. Kerrigan is participating in that one, and in return, is able to have a broadcast position during the games. The director is on record of saying that the story really is about Harding, and that she wouldn't have made the film without Harding's participation.
