Thinking about just buying…

Thinking about just buying season tickets (start around $300) and trying to get most of my money back from the Wisco, Nebraska, and Illinois games. Don't expect would get much for MSU or other games, but the fact that Michigan is going for about 1/2 of the full season seems a little out of whack, especially if the Gophers prove decent this year.

Like other places in the…

Like other places in the country, Mpls Downtown has seen a decent amount of closings as a result of COVID, as a lot of offices are still not requiring employees to come in every day like they use to. That being said, for the most part safety issues are way overplayed and we still have lots of great restaurants, bars, and breweries (as someone who has lived in London and DC and routinely goes to NYC for work and to visit friends, I'd push back pretty strongly against the "snobby New York perspective" that Mpls sucks). I do recommend at least getting out of direct downtown and exploring the neighborhoods (e.g., Northeast, North Loop, Lynden Hills, walking on Mississippi / around the lakes),

On Saturday morning go to…

On Saturday morning go to the Mill City Farmers Market and walk across the Stone Arch Bridge for the best views of the City. Alma Cafe also has great food / pastries / coffee.

For good BBQ and fun environment head to Bauhaus Brewery and eat from the food truck (Animales).

Also recommend going to Dangerous Man Brewery and eating in their "alley" outside. Either get food to go from Young Joni or if it is Friday, Nixta Taco, both of which are right near by. Young Joni's back bar is also a cool scene.

If you have time, recommend going to the lakes in SW Minneapolis or taking the light rail to Minnehaha Falls. Food and beer at Sea Salt, which is at the Falls, is good.

I am ok with this, under one condition

I am ok with this, under one condition. Anyone who works for the ncaa must take a drug test and if an individual fails that individual cannot take a salary next year.

OSU finally getting the message

I'm officially really interested in how things play out in the rivalry going forward. I never though I'd feel this nervous about UM when we have Urban Meyer and they have Brady Hoke. Props to UM, they have me worried.

And do not collect...

$200 for passing GO.

Ricks?

Is Ricardo's the Spanish version of Rick's?

Edit: Derp. This is why I should have failed Espanol232.

Jimmy Johns

Naw, subs are on the way.

Momentarily Happy

But expect Rubio will be the only marquee point guard  in Minne by the end of the night.

Edit:  Next Stockton. Screw the Timberwolves, go Jazz.

Broke his leg

I don't see him playing for the Tigers, but he will probably redshirt this year as he broke his femur in January.

Early commitment

Assuming no one else committs before him, Peppers will be only the second 247 composite   top ten recruit to commit (UVA got Branding at #8). Assuming he comes here like everyone expects, this will send a big signal for Michigan for the rest of the recruitment cycle.

We do need a poll.

I must know which of the two Otto gifs is the winner according to the mgocommunity.

Hartman

This quote summarizes Sid Hartman's role perfectly in Minnesota's sports media. Despite his age, he remains one of the most connected members of the media and routinely writes breaking information. (This is the first time I heard MN offered Hoke) Because of his age, he is becoming senile and makes statements that make no sense. (Yeah, that Brown Jug is not going anywhere)

Not really

No, there is no real hatred for UofMN from Michigan fans in my experience. The Little Brown Jug is so onesided that is impossible for real hatred to exist. My point was only that I have more reason to dislike the Gophers than most on this board and that people are being excessively pessimistic about the Gophers' future in basketball.

Dan Monson years?

Minnesota was down after suffering sanctions following its final four team. This is very comprable to how Michigan was down following the Fab 5.

I dislike the Gophers as much as almost anyone else on this blog (I left MN to go to undergrad at Michigan), but I think you guys are over exageriting how low of expectations Minnesota should have.

One more point

While Tubby is the king of dancing to Kesha, he is not a good coach. Players have not improved under him. This is a team that had the perfect combination of young talent and leadership. Mbwake is in his 6th year. No way the Gophers should have been a bubble 11 seed team.

No, it is a new AD.

The comparison to Glen Mason is faulty for several reasons. The most important one is that the state of Minnesota produces some very good basketball talent. 2 of the top 10 players in the 2014 class are from MN and there is another highly regarded 4 star. In contrast, Minnesota is a wasteland for football recruits. Furthermore, the basketball program has a history of success that does not outdate the forward pass. Minnesota went to the final four in 1997 (yes this officially off the record books due to kids not doing there own homework).

Whether this proves to be a good decision is completly dependent on who they hire. Rumor here in MN, is that a coach has already accepted an offer.

Isaac*

His name is spelled Isaac. Hoped we would have this down from Ty.

ball.

why dont you do that against indiana?

Morgan

Has lost all confidence on layups

Google 'Jalen Hurd'...

and this comes up on the first page.  Apparently, he wasn't as near as they thought. http://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/recruiting/2013/02/jalen-hurd-highl…

Michigan Coaches Do Too...

They just do it in person on his weekly visit.

Dave?

Dave Brandon is that you?

Bucket Getter

That should stick.

Big Ten Power Play

I am pissed that CBS delayed the start 10 mins, but like that they are just switching to the game that matters.

CBSSPORTS.COM

cbssports.com should have a stream.

Edit: Stream not working yet. I assume that means they are waiting for the other game to finish.

6 losses

MSU is significantly the highest ranked 6 loss team (okst is next highest at 15). Even with the stacked B1G, I think they are about right.

Return to Michigan

If this leads to Woodson retiring, or eventually when he does retire, I hope the AD department looks into bringing him back to Michigan in some official capacity.

Forgot Helm

Daniel Helm (TE visiting this weekend) is ranked 201

Academic relation too?

I would be in favor of this if it led it to an academic relation similar to the relationship the B1G has with U of Chicago. Johns Hopkins had top tier academics/ research in both the social sciences and medicine.

Two possibilities

1) ND is unwisely trying to cover this up and protect Te'o. Reporters are going to be investigating this now as thoroughly as possible. (Very likely).

2) Te'o actually got faked into believing he was dating a girl that did not exist. (Not so likely). If this is the case, Te'o is extremely dumb and ND can never make the argument that they have higher admission standards than everyone else for football players.

Three week investigation

Hard to believe Notre Dame has been investigating this for three weeks and has not come up with anything. If Te'o was talking to some girl every night they would only need to check Te'o's phone records and trace the number to the owner. Also, one would expect Te'o would have a photo of this girl that he apparently took to Hawaii and met in other occasions.

Most likely Te's is still lying and ND is trying to cover him. This is a bad idea, as every reporter that previously reported about this story has an incentive now to dig for the truth.

You do know Christmas was three weeks ago?

Hoke Hire

Hiring Brady Hoke looks smarter every day. Loyatly to the program matters.

Disappointing

Brandon has some explaining to do on this decision.

Some good news: Spike Albrecht

In same story-

"The Wolverines, according to a source, are also bringing in under-the-radar point guard Spike Albrecht for a visit Thursday."

Walkons

Some walkons' parents are going to be very happy.

Most looking forward...

to all of them. I love March Madness. Already gave up on getting any work done today.

With his name...

my juvenile question would probably have been more juvenile than ranking a visit on 1-10 scale.

I don't care how hard you work.

31 ACT Score

According to Rivals he has a 31 on his ACT.  Definately a plus.

Missed True Calling

While fairly succesful as a college football coach, Saban clearly missed his true calling as a tax attorney.

That is one bid guy on a not so big horse.

God, I miss that place.

Oregon's Helmets

I don't care whether you like how they look, they should not be allowed because of the glare.
