The 5-star RB committed to Butch Jones and the Volunteers this morning. Fairly significant news as he was thought to be a heavy Buckeye lean by many.
i find this extremely interesting
This seems like an odd thread to announce that you're a fan of World of Warcraft.
So...Tennessee DID, in fact, get him and not OSU? Or is this signing day redux?
"Welllllllll..."
Good for him. I hope, for Butch Jones' sake that he eventually signs on the dotted line (is that line really dotted on the LOI).
Butch Jones has always seemed to be a decent guy. I hope he steals many more 5 stars that were heavy leans to OSU.
Here in Knoxville fans are really excited about Butch Jones. The coaches called every high school coach in the state of Tennessee to try to lock down all of the in-state kids. With time he should be successful. He has done well everywhere he has been.
Wasn't he somewhat instrumental in the violations at UNC during his tenure?

I'd rather not be consumed by hillbillies, thank you
I didn't follow his recruitment too closely because I knew he wasn't going to pick U of M, but he always seemed like he would be going to Tennessee. This is the first I've seen that he was widely considered to be an OSU lock.
OSU was the favorite. You are twisting the OP's words. It's a good thing he didn't choose OSU. Quit being a dick.

Pot meet kettle
If you don't like Michigan you are a peasant
and this comes up on the first page. Apparently, he wasn't as near as they thought. http://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/recruiting/2013/02/jalen-hurd-highli...
OSU people thought he was a heavy lean. Universally.

That's a little harsh.
If you need a car hotwired or someone to get Nancy Kerriganed, I bet they would know how to do those things.
Congrats to UT and Mr. Hurd.

so we are doing Hello posts for guys not gong to tOSU now?
Well, he's a big-time prospect with a Michigan offer...so it's somewhat relevant.
Welcome to MGoBlog.
Maybe Tenn fans will stop crying about Green now.

You can usually find me bumping some Reggae, hammered on Higgins Lake with the goon squad. #HALOL

They haven't stopped crying about Woodson's Heisman, so I wouldn't hold your breath....
Very true, didn't think about that.

Should this really be that big a surprise? A talented kid from TN ends up going to UT? UT is a traditional power that just found itself without even a plausible 'coach' for the past several years. If Jones rights the ship, there's no reason why this shouldn't happen more in the future. Not to mention he can offer immediate playing time, like, everywhere. That said, let's see if it sticks.
While it's not necessarily a huge surprise for an instate kid to choose UT, this is a 5-star kid choosing the in state school that hasn't been a semi-consistent power since he was in kindergarten. The only thing Hurd has seen is UT being bad or mediocre. Big time kudos to Jones for nabbing him.
I wonder if the lack of O-line recruiting had any effect on his choice?

According to Rivals, Tennessee has only recruited three linemen in the 2012-2013 classes combined.
WOW.
