If you watched the clock all game, for some reason on every play it stopped and started late. Essentially a technical delay in displaying the correct time. Happened on every play. So when the refs reviewed it, of course they saw 2 seconds left. Not sure why on that one...

M-SDSU and OSU-Colorado are actual games me thinks, given OSU's performances to date (Close home win over Toledo, implosion down south) and how good SDSU actually is... I give a good chance to one big ten loss of the pair and a not insignificant chance both teams lose.

Great post mathlete...
I think your myth #4 analysis shows the simple theory that having a running quarterback gives one a numbers advantage works out. RR was and is obviously right in this aspect (but not in his total approach to running Michigan). I loved the guy, loved the offense... but the D, special teams were incredibly lacking.
Brady's blow hard attitude about manball I think is more attitude than intended to give away the playbook. Borges seems to be the right sort to find the right blend of things from his press conference (and has been pass happy at SDSU). I expect good things! :)

For those not aware, Barwis is a multiple sport S&C coach at Michigan. He has to be. If he’s football only, that gets into that dangerous area of the wrong staff overseeing people (ie why we the program is on probation!)… it’s the reason he can spend the winter/spring conditioning the team. It just so happens that football is so important, that the head coach often gets to pick his guy. So Barwis can’t be retained as the overall S&C guy, that’s his job now and the job Wellman would get. They are both relatively awesome (per internet rumors, though I like Barwis stories and wolves more for entertainment value). They are both way better than the last guy, which is unfortunate since I met and l tried out for the team with coach gittleson (sp), and he’s a nice guy and gave me a shot, but he wasn’t at the point that Michigan needed to be competitive.
|3 years 13 weeks ago||RR||
I was at the U of M Cincy game week lunch before the OSU game, David Brandon was the speaker this year for the lunch… when asked by an OSU alumn about the status of RR… he said he believed RR was in his office. He also pledged that Michigan will be back (paraphrasing here, don’t look too much into my wording). I’m in the camp that if DB wanted RR back, he should have endorsed him by now to help with recruiting. So either DB is on the fence or knows what he wants to do (make a change). I’m not terribly worried about a QB development recruit, but the Dee Hart situation is a little disconcerting.

I take one exception to Brian's post...
"When Tate Forcier came in and played like an average freshman—which is to say not very well at all—the offense went from worst ever to passable."
This seems a bit too harsh to raise expectations for the future. Tate played a lot better than an average freshmen and a lot better than not very well at all. He played great against non-conference teams including a big win vs. ND and IU (ug, big win vs. IU)... and was super human in tying that game vs. MSU. There were also bright spots the rest of the way. IMHO, Tate played like a very talented freshmen... lots of freshmen moments (ug), but lots of reasons to believe that as a year 2 starter things will be improved.
My two cents...

Tebow and McCoy aside... Suh of Nebraska and Gerhart of Stanford are clearly the most outstanding players in college football this year. Wins often matter, but if we're talking just about individuals, those are the two guys. One bonus is that Ingram and Tebow may split the south... though McCoy and Suh are in the center of the country and Gerhart on the west, depends on how the east coast bias breaks. Should be interesting on Saturday.
|4 years 15 weeks ago||Competitive...||
I know everyone lives and dies with wins and losses in football and yes, our record isn't as improved as everyone would like, we're all disappointed. But I'm sure the people who are most disappointed are Tate and RR.
My way of looking at it is this, last year the team was sparsely competitive and the wins were almost by surprise. This team was very competitive and only a play or two from beating the Buckeyes. I'm proud of their effort and I think that if you give RR time, he will keep bringing in guys and make Michigan a more complete football team. Let the defense learn from the same system for two years in a row! Despite the loss, what I saw today made me feel very optimistic for the long run.
My biggest disappointment is Michigan's fans. Everyone in my alumni club noted the obvious presence of Buckeye Scarlett through-out the stadium. If Michigan's fans want a winning team, then they need to show up and support the team instead of selling tickets to Buckeyes for a quick dollar. You can't have higher expectations of the football team than you have of yourself, it's time for Michigan fan's to show up and build up the team. Make Michigan Stadium the most feared venue in college sports. Too many Michigan fan's have been spoiled by success and their fair weather nature is disappointing. Show up, cheer loud, or let someone else on the waiting list have a turn.

|4 years 15 weeks ago||In Ohio||
I currently live in Cincinnati, OH and run the local alumni spirit group. The thing you have to understand about it is, here... everyone asks you were you went to school, and they mean high school. High school football is huge. Michigan and Ohio vary in overall population by not that much, but look at the number of top recruits out of Ohio. They are football crazy. Add that to a general inferiority complex, plus the 10-2-1 of the John Cooper Era, and you'll must up some irrational hatred. But, I do have to say, some Michigan fans show irrational devotion. I've seen plenty of posts on this blog, some who have trouble with their family or drink heavily after a loss. Letting being a fan get to that point on either side is upsetting.
But I host my alumni club, these on both side are out numbered by people who are reasonable and support their team. I support Michigan and I always will. Go Blue! Beat the Buckeyes!

Great post. I absolutely agree. I think a lot of people feel so strongly about Michigan, that they don't handle the reaction well when they don't win. But the bottom line for most of us is, we support Michigan.
|4 years 17 weeks ago||Gardner...||
With regards to comments on Gardner being redshirted, it's entirely possible for him to be second string AND redshirt. This has happened before. You play your top guy and keep the guy you want to redshirt on the bench and don't burn the redshirt unless someone gets hurt. With regards to Denard, he is going to be a weapon on offense for Michigan in the future in one way or another and a season of spring practice may help give him enough good passing experience to make team's pay for stacking up to stop him. The way that Rich Rod likes to run options and fakes and different plays off the same formation and play look, I believe he will find a way to do this. I think it will open up things for him on the ground.
The ball may not be bouncing our ways these days, but I support Michigan. That means I support it's coaches and staff. RR will get it fixed, whatever that takes, give him the chance to do that in the long term. We have a long term issue with the team and it will require a little time to get Michigan back to where we'd like it to be. I believe when we do, that everyone will be very pleased with the result (yes a good portion of this is blind faith, but I like that).

Bowl tie-ins are below unless a team is in the BCS Championship game:
Rose Bowl - Big Ten champ vs. Pac-10 champ
Big East Champ has no tie-in, but gets an BCS spot.
GT would have to be in the Orange Bowl.
