Jake Rudock and the Forces of the Universe

Submitted by BlueMan80 on

There is a story line hanging out there that's a sports writer's dream:

Jake Rudock and Michigan vs. Iowa in the B1G Championship game.

How sweet would it be for Jake to get to play against his former team for the championship and perhaps spoil their undefeated season?  I believe the universe wants this to happen.  Revenge is a dish best served cold and this could be the sweetest revenge for Jake.  May the energies of the universe bring together the confluence required to make this happen.  [I will make no reference to trinities with > 3 elements]

While I have full confidence that our team will uphold its end of the bargain, I have very little confidence that penn state will do anything against staee.  I would be as happy as anyone else on this blog if they did do it though.

that PSU does lead the league in plays of 30+ yards from scrimmage.  We know MSU's secondary is a just a shade north of atrocious.  So it's strength on weakness there.  If Franklin can figure it out in time to play max protect and let Hackenberg be Hackenberg.  I think they have a better shot than most.

Especially if Nassib plays.  He might give a <100% connor cook some fits.

So it might come down to Franklin's inability to manage a game vs. MSU's lousy secondary.

The Rudock storyline would be cool, but honestly the MSU meltdown should UM and PSU win Saturday would be a top all-time internet event. I know it's not likely, but wow would it be glorious.

You could power a city using the heat from all the couches burning in East Lansing.

I think Iowa might be better than they're getting credit for; however, if we end up playing them I think it's safe to say that we'd be heavily favored (more than MSU).  Mainly because we have at least one copy of their playbook from last year.

The PSU line isn't being offered at any major books. I could see it opening around there if it's confirmed that Cook won't play, but for now they're holding off listing it as long as they can.

Even if we called both games 50/50 propositions, which is probably generous for the one not involving Michigan, the chances of it happening would be 25%.

Nobody's saying it is, Harbaugh's opening campaign has already exceeded expectations. That doesn't mean PSU winning along with a win in the game wouldn't make it that much sweeter.

You don't understand Cosmic Calculus under the Harbaugh Measure.

The probability of us winning is 100%, from which the ethers will carry the vibes over to East Lansing and then later to Palo Alto.

Harbaugh set it up this way so that Michigan fans can have a glorious triple-header saturday.

Another scenario that would be delightful, if not quite up there with Michigan making it to the B1G championship:

MSU beats PSU, UM beats OSU.  MSU goes to B1G Championship, LOSES to Iowa.  Iowa goes to playoff, Rose Bowl selects their replacement, picks Michigan.

Much would be made by the press about such a matchup, but I'd be willing to bet from Rudock's perspective it would just another game to execute and win.  That seems to be the Harbaugh mantra -- fight the foe in front of you and do what we taught you to do.

Still ... Michigan in the B1G championship would be epically bittersweet to MSU and OSU.

Yup. Plus, if we beat OSU to go 10-2 and don't make the Big Ten title game, I'm OK with it. The entire league knows that Michigan is going to be great under Harbaugh. This first year has been great and only the beginning.

Lack of sleep and just overly sick of anytime people post a hypothetical, there's always someone who needs to post a "just win". Like if we discuss or look ahead it has some barring on the outcome. I'll take my negs, I usually think twice before being a smart ass.
