Is this a new trend in CFB?

Is this a new trend in CFB?

- No, this has been happening for years. As mentioned above, there's only 100 possible numbers so at minimum there will be at least 30 duplicates.

It is an economical issue?

- Nike (Jordan) are paying for them. The Athletic Department is not paying for the jerseys.

Does it simplify jersey stocking each hear, just replace the name strip?

- All players keep their bowl game jersey at the end of each season. Seniors keep their regular season jerseys once their career is done. With differing jersey sizes and cuts it's unlikely that a specific jersey would be reusable for another player.

He is credited in starring…

He is credited in starring in the 1st, 4th, and 12th highest grossing movies of all time. One as the movie's namesake character and the other two as a main character. Might not be a stretch

I agree with you on the…

I agree with you on the defense and that was what I tried alluding to, (obviously somewhat poorly), rather than this conspiracy existing. If you look at the three close road games that the team lost in Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa there is a very blatant trend appearing.

- In all three games the opponents' big was the leading scorer on the night. They did try having Simpson help Teske down low when Garza got the ball last night but his foul trouble early negated that idea for much of the game.

- The field goal percentages in these games were fairly even for the most part but the major difference came at the free throw line. Illinois out attempted Michigan 20-6 with 8 of the 20 attempts coming in the last 8 minutes. Minnesota saw a difference of 27-6 with 11 of the 27 coming in the last 8 minutes as well. Last night with 10 minutes to go, Iowa had attempted 22 free throws versus Michigan's 2.

I understand it is difficult to win on the road in conference play but this is not simply a team being down late and forced to foul. The current defensive issues and difference in free throw opportunities shrinks the margin of error for a bad shooting night. That accompanied with essentially a 7 man rotation if foul trouble does occur is the biggest issue.

There were a some good offensive sets ran last night but the team struggled shooting at the end making only 3 field goals in the last 9 minutes including the gift layup right before the buzzer. So in three games of losses by single digits again it comes back to the difference in chances at the line. If you're going to concede those attempts, then the shooting has to be that much better to even a chance in games that were very winable.

I'm not saying there is a…

I'm not saying there is a conspiracy, actually quite the opposite. In two home games they've attempted 58 free throws while their opponents have gone to the line 43 times. Yet in four road games they have only 39 attempts while their opponents have 110. Easy thing to point to explain the lack of success on the road. Discrepancies like that are not caused by officiating but instead by giving your opponent too many additional opportunities on one end and an apparent differing approach on offense.

The other point I forgot to…

The other point I forgot to mention was that home teams in conference play have been called for an average of 14.7 fouls per game while the road team has been called for an average of 18.3 fouls per game. Not sure a net differential of 3.6 fouls per game constitutes "home cooking" but there is a slight advantage for the home team so far.

Jeff Hecklinski was the…

Jeff Hecklinski was the Recruiting Coordinator so Montgomery left for Oklahoma to receive the same title, coach the DL, as well as a few other responsibilities. He was the lowest paid assistant while on staff at Michigan. Ironically, he replaced Mike Trgovac in Green Bay, another name that has been flying around here recently.

I've been trying to think…

I've been trying to think back on who you're referring to and I believe I remember. If you compare that to the truck Denard and Devin shared it shows it definitely was not ra.mpant across the team.

Felder’s position was guard. Felder’s position was guard. How is this difficult to comprehend?
Conference Titles & Final Four

Including this year's teams, the last 17 Final Fours dating back to 2002 have a breakdown of:

51 Of 68 Teams With A Conference Title (Either Regular Season Or Conf. Tournament)

  • 20 Of 51 - Regular Season Champions Only
  •   9 Of 51 - Conference Tournament Champions Only
  • 22 Of 51 - Both Regular Season & Conf. Tournament Champs

Michigan and Villanova are amongst the nine teams to make the Final Four when only winning their conference tournament, while Loyola and Kansas fit into the catergory of both regular season and conference tournament champions.

The 2000s has seen an average of exactly 3 of the 4 teams in the Final Four with a title earned in regular season or conference tournament play.

New Hockey Team Illinois was the first school in the feasibility study, but it has also been confirmed that Oakland University will be getting a new men’s team and probably a women’s team as well. The last hurdle is the rink they will play at. Current situation either has them getting a new rink to be a dual facility for both basketball and hockey, paid for by a donor like Olympia or someone else, to replace O’Rena or to be play at The Palace which still has its ice sheet. Adding Illinois and Oakland to Big 10 hockey would help to grow the conference until other members join.
Camera Angles

The XFL was the first to use the Sky Cam extensively and on-field cameras/mics near the huddle. The Sky Cam was actually their primary camera view.

PMT Surprised this is the first I've seen it here, but couldn't agree more with PMT. Definitely humorous and takes minor jabs at the dumb stuff the media does that many on here can't stand.
No one is going to point this out... Fine, I'll do it.

Their*** not they're nor there.

We lost Durkin as well so We lost Durkin as well so you're talking about four important coaches

To say he was an UFDA solely To say he was an UFDA solely because of off the field issues seems like an easy excuse. The same team who signed him also drafted Frank Clark in the second round that year and his off field issues were much more egregious. They probably did help push him out of the 6th/7th round, but so did his inability to stay healthy, being undersized at 5'9", and his lack of consistency. My point is when he's healthy and can consistently get carries he's been able to produce. He was unable to do this at either Michigan or Central.
I wouldn't call it funny, but I wouldn't call it funny, but more of a guy taking full advantage of an opportunity at the highest level.

His numbers weren't great at Michigan mainly due to being behind Fitz, who has three years in the NFL albeit as a backup to Le'Veon, and the inability to get anything going behind a poor line. His numbers improved at Central when he saw games with 40+ carries multiple times, but even then he was still unstaffed.

Reminds me of Michael Cox, but Rawls is breaking through. Cox couldn't move up the depth chart as a senior for multiple reasons, but he still was able to start for the Giants briefly.
I'm assuming you haven't been I'm assuming you haven't been to Madison, Bloomington, or Champaign then. This bed check is important because it's our biggest road game of the year minus Columbus, not because of temptation or females.
History May Be On Our History May Be On Our Side

Harbaugh went to game 5. The Cubs haven't lost since he was in attendance.

That's in the entry by where That's in the entry by where the tv use to be right?
Each team has two ball boys Each team has two ball boys on each sideline. One is at the line of scrimmage and another 10-15 yards in front of the play. Every time a ball goes outside the hash or at the refs request they exchange the ball out when their own team is on offense.
This isn't the first time This isn't the first time Aikman has blasted Bayless. There's multiple articles of him doing this in prior years and it all stems from Bayless' book when he tried to out Aikman as being gay. It's more newsworthy now that they share the same employer.
All Jerseys Are Made In All Jerseys Are Made In China

Nike, Adidas, and UA all use the same set of factories for jersey and apparel production. Adidas use to then ship the jerseys to Israel for embroidering, and then finally to Wisconsin where nameplates and final touches were put on. So to an extent, all jerseys (both real, authentic, and fake) are all from China.
You're pretty much spot on. You're pretty much spot on. Given some assumptions I did a 53 year old male, Preferred Tobacco (smokeless), with a 7 pay premium of $2 million each.

Assuming they did minimum face to let cash build (initial face is still over 40 million), that'd be a target premium of $551,800 so the commission check would be around $634,000. Not a bad days work.
Quarterback's Choice

Essentially it comes down to whatever the starting quarterback prefers. When we were under Adidas they tried getting their new footballs in each year, but the starters never liked them. Forcier used the Wilson GST while Denard and Devin used the 1005. So to answer your question, whichever Wilson or Nike football that O'Korn/Speight wants to use.

After being in 11 of the 13 After being in 11 of the 13 road locker rooms, I'm assuming the 4 votes for Iowa is because of the pink walls. Nebraska does make sense as it was formerly a home locker room.
Although possibly true, Although possibly true, Phelps was never technically a "Wolverine athlete". He swam club and never earned a varsity. Enrolled as a student and took minimal SM classes, but in reality was there for Bowman.
Collins hit .100 here earlier Collins hit .100 here earlier in the year and now him and Gose are hitting .200 and .175 in Toledo respectively. If that's where you're going bring up both Moya and Jones then.
I agree with you on that. I agree with you on that. They need to pick up two outfielders with JD gone. One to spell him and another in case Maybin misses games. A backup SS in CF isn't helpful when you're a game back. Or else lose an arm in the pen to keep Aviles and that doesn't make sense either.
I don't think he's a I don't think he's a long-term fix by any means, but he's a low cost option to go along with two kids who haven't been everyday big leaguers. A rotation in right of those two plus Crawford seems better defensively since Maybin's health is questionable and Aviles isn't an everyday outfielder.
Call up Moya or Jones like Call up Moya or Jones like you said and pick up Carl Crawford since he's been DFA and you'd only have to pay him the minimum. Crawford for Aviles and Romine can be your utility guy.
Baseball - DJ Baseball - DJ LeMahieu
Football - Mike Martin
Hockey - Cam Fowler & Vincent Trocheck
You just cited Ace Williams You just cited Ace Williams and Chat Sports as a source...but outside of that tiny detail...
Wellman did do this under Wellman did do this under Hoke, this isn't anything special or new to this staff but actually pretty common.
Brian, you mentioned that Brian, you mentioned that Viney frequently wore cleats in practices he coached. That may just be a prerequisite for the DB coaching job because when Aubrey Pleasant was here before he was the only coach on the staff that I remember who would do this.
Michael Jocz, (in the middle Michael Jocz, (in the middle at the back of the group), is already #81 and a TE. Quite possible that Gentry is wearing #81 for the scout team representing Antonio Callaway.
Email AD Directly

These positions are not readily posted anywhere online as they seem are change somewhat often based upon the number of kids graduating in the fall and winter plus kids deciding not to come back. Your best bet is emailing the athletic department, and specifically someone in within the football department directly, with your contact information and let them know you're interested as a student starting in the fall. If you know or know anyone that knows someone already working with the team that is also a great way in.

"In addition, Peters and Ben "In addition, Peters and Ben Bredeson took home Gatorade POTY awards for the states of Indiana and Wisconsin, respectively."

It's on the front page in Ace's Recruiting post
Which if you had to Which if you had to categorize would fall under "institutional support", no?
Nothing New

This is nothing new and has been going on in athletic departments for years. Doesn't answer your question on fairness, but the Washington Post didn't break anything new. Some of the best data on this is from the USA Today as they show revenues, expenses, and subsidies for each athletic department. The designate "subsidy" as the sum of student fees, institutional support, and state money. Interesting enough, Michigan receives just over $256,000 (0.16% of their revenue) from subsidy which most likely is from direct or indirect institutional support.

Brock Huard continued to Brock Huard continued to point out Hackenberg's flaws while praising Rudock for most of the game. He also complimented Harbaugh and the heart and fight the team showed. I don't think you can say he was anti-Michigan all game.
The helmets are scrubbed, The helmets are scrubbed, cleaned, and polished before every game. The paint is also touched up during the week following the previous Saturday's game.
Re: Uniformz

The uniformz started with Brandon and were his attempt to outshine State's pro combat jerseys that they were unvailing that day. It was a well kept secret and some of the coaches and higher ranking staff did know that day. The jerseys were moved in by the equipment staff and whoever else was available to help in the locker room at the time in order to get all the jerseys into the lockers as the players warmed up.

Not Full Travel Team

I believe I roughly counted ~63 guys on that two deep. If I remember correctly the Big Ten caps the size of the travel roster at roughly 70-75 guys. I believe Durkin said in his interview last week that they would bring extra guys on defense as well.

Injuries Issue

"Just like us with injuries. I felt like we should keep that in house. Why tip your oppenent if you don't have to?"

As much as people in the media clammer over coaches not giving full answers, I agree with Whittingham and Hoke's stance from last year that there's no point of saying injury-related news in pressers. Only hurts your team as the only benefit is letting fans know four to five days before the next game.

Will Play Against WMU

Dantonio's decision to let Williams play against WMU.****

And he essentially got let And he essentially got let go/was the talk of NFL trade rumors. Not saying he shouldn't or should have done it, but if Michigan was Hoke's dream job then he would have almost been stuck to not say it. Yes there is other jobs out there, but if Michigan is the one then why jeopardize it.
It would be a little It would be a little difficult sitting in an interview with the next AD when he asked why you were fired from your previous job. "Because I told my last AD to fck off" probably wouldn't look too good.
