OT: RIP Chadwick Boseman

Submitted by bassclefstef on August 28th, 2020 at 10:34 PM

Chadwick Boseman, best known for playing T'Challa/Black Panther in the MCU, has passed away. Apparently, he had been fighting colon cancer for the last four years. He was 43. Cancer, and 2020, can both go get bent.

He played Black Panther, Thurgood Marshall, James Brown, and Jackie Robinson. His death is all over the news right now, he meant a lot to a lot of people. It's not like he was some unknown character actor.

...but even if he was, get bent man. What an unnecessary, stupid, look at me, dumbass comment you felt you just haaaaaad to type out.

You know the best way to prove your 'cool guy' indifference?

Hitting that Reply button.

Also, bonus points for typing out the word "yawn".  Just in case someone without their frontal lobe wanted to pick up what you're layin' down.

If you don’t know who he is I have to question who you do know. He is one of the highest profile, most bankable actors in Hollywood. Quickly becoming as high profile as Denzel, if he wasn’t there already.

Either way, what an absolutely tone-deaf chicken shit statement. Even if he was a nobody, that’s still someone’s son. He’s got a family. But don’t worry, when you die I’m sure there will be plenty of people who just shrug their shoulders and say “meh, never heard of him” either.

I've now seen that skit probably 20 times, never picked up on the cop joke about Wakanda.

It's been interesting to see some people just now begin to understand the relationship between the black community and the police.

I'm trying to figure out what they thought about all these jokes, the TV shows, the rap songs. How could anyone not know?

Anyway, let's not make this thread about that. Just found that interesting.

He starred in the best film of 2018, his character was the glue that made the rest of a brilliant cast shine, and was a beacon of hope for Black actors and other film making professionals. The world is a better place for his having graced us with his too short life. Maybe we should be getting colonoscopies at age 30, eh?

Wow, I didn’t even know he was sick. You certainly wouldn’t have known he was based on his physique, as he sure looked like he kept himself in shape.

I didn’t know much about him until 42 came out a few years back, and he was great in that movie. He had some serious acting skills, and got the chance to have a lot of roles portraying very powerful African American figures. Jackie Robinson, Thurgood Marshall, James Brown, not to mention Black Panther.

Hope his family can find some peace in all of this. 2020 can continue to go suck a bag of dicks.

Fuck cancer. Rest In Peace.

The guy made 3 of the biggest movies of all time (and more) while going through chemotherapy. What an amazing man.
