This is something State would do and we would all laugh at them. Sad day in Michigan athletics

Merrill is really

Merrill is really Smotrycz'ing this game

I am rooting for Ohio since

I am rooting for Ohio since the banner will probably be taken away in a few years due to Matta's dirty program

Take it to the bank

Danny O'Brien is coming to Michigan. Found out from a friend of his family

An asswhoopin campaign this

An asswhoopin campaign this season would ensure that Hoke wins B1G Coach of the Year, giving him 1 more than Tressel

According to George

According to George Doerhmann's twitter, the story should be up on CNNSI.com between 7:30 and 8:00 tonight.

Someone should remind all

Someone should remind all these people that are saying MIchigan cant compete with the SEC that MIchigan actually has a dominating edge in the win loss columb

Brian Cook is acting a lot

Brian Cook is acting a lot like Drew Sharp... I wonder if Brian realizes that recruits are all over the web looking at the biggest and best UM blog in the country stating that Brady Hoke hire is doom.  Brian is allowed to have his opinion as are the Freep writers but calling a hire doom just because he wasnt a brand name does not make any sense. Also UM needs a schematic advantage over everyone because they are playing second fiddle in recruiting? Come on its Michigan! Also lets make it known that recruiting rankings are flawed and even if you consistently have the number one recruiting class in the country, it is up to the coach to make them better. If there is no player development then the program will not reap the rewards of the so called high recruiting rankings.

So what is Brian's solution,

So what is Brian's solution, keep Rich Rod who was 15-22 in three years and 0-6 against MSU and OSU. Rich Rod obviously did not understand what Michigan was and made the program more about himself than about MIchigan. He needs to come out of his mom's basement and see the light more often

If he leaves then it really

If he leaves then it really hurts his teammates and him leaving is all about valuing himself as more important than his teammates that he has deflected all of his personal accolades to. I am just saying that the way Denard acts and has represented himself, this decision to transfer and remain mum while leaving his teammates guessing and having to answer for him is not what UM needs with this coaching change.

Denard has every right to transfer but my personal opinion on him will change if he does. Just as I felt that Ryan Mallett/Justin Boren had every right to transfer, but in my opinion their decisions exemplified what type of teammates they really were.

Obviously the offense would miss Denards athletic ability but lets remember that any coach other than RR wouldnt run him 25 times a game to get his rushing yards up there. The offense was too dependent on Denard and others need to step up. Just like Tate did against Illinois and Iowa when Denard got hurt.

Denard's leadership is  his best quality and if he leaves someone else will step up. Just like when other leaders have left UM, theres always someone else to step up.

Are you seriously saying that

Are you seriously saying that RR was an offensive genius? Maybe he was against BGSU, Delaware, Indiana, and Illinois but what happened against MSU, OSU, Wisconsin, Iowa, OSU and Miss. St? Not much. Against Iowa & Wisconsin his offense only put up points when the game was over.

You are right about Hoke he's not labelled as an offensive genius, he's the head coach and is accountable for the offense, defense, and special teams. The defense and special teams were awful under RR and he attempted to pass the blame. The team might actually display a tough attitude and may actually be feared again.

UM returns almost all the starters this year and will get Woolfolk back plus others from injuries on the defense. UM will be much more improved this upcoming year

The only problem with Denard

The only problem with Denard leaving is the fact that we lose a QB and Tate is not eligible and the fact that others may see it as a way out and start transferring as well.

It would definitely hurt to

It would definitely hurt to see Denard go as he seems like a great person and a special athlete. However, lets not overvalue one player. As we have seen this year, it takes 22 players to compete on the big level. If Denard wants to go somewhere else then his heart is not here at UM and he was not the team player/competitor we all thought. he was.  Michigan is built off of years of tradition and hard work by several thousands of people not one person. Tom Brady was once considering transferring but he stayed because he had something  to prove. Let's hope Denard makes the same decision.

Hoke was the associate head

Hoke was the associate head coach under Carr, so he must have had Carr's trust in help to run the program. Also, Hoke knows the midwest recruiting landscape and may be able to utilize the talent-rich midwest instead of competing with the SEC in Florida. The other positivie surrounding Hoke would be his ability to bring in top assistant coaches that also have Michigan ties. This would help to unite the UM fanbase/alumni since RR's hire.

I don't think it matters

I don't think it matters where OSU will get the ball at, our defense is incapable of stopping anyone.

After a wild 2nd, UM leads

After a wild 2nd, UM leads 4-3......

Breakfast Club

If any of you get down there on Friday night, I would highly encourage you to check out the breakfast club around 7 a.m at their bars. Most of the students will be in halloween costumes and will wear these into the games.

Might as well put Tate back

Might as well put Tate back there and provide some laughable moments. He does tackle well after he throws his picks.

Bowl Practices

I think that a lot of this may depend on whether or not we can get to a bowl game this year. The bowl game will offer us an extra 15 practices which is another spring. Look at the strides Denard made in the spring with the practices. If the young defensive kids had the extra practices a bowl game would allow, then they could gain a lot more experience heading into the spring.

I agree and not executing is

I agree and not executing is a reflection on coaching. Lets give RR the proper time, we have made the committment now its time to stick by him and the team

Patience

Like most Michigan fans I find myself being impatient. The reason RR was hired was to bring Michigan forward in the 21st century football. Let's look at RR's head coaching history before we pull the plug too early.

At Glenville State RR went 1-7-1 in year 1;  4-5-1 in year 2; 6-4 in year 3; and 10-3 in year four.

At WV RR went 3-8 in year 1; 9-4 in year 2; 8-5 in year 3; 8-4 in year 4; 11-1 in year 5; 11-2 in year 6; and 10-2 in year 7.

The anomoly that stands out when comparing his 3 head coaching jobs is the 9-4 in year 2 at WV other than that, the records look pretty similary. Michigan can get up to 8 wins this year although I think 7-5 is more realistic. Then with more experience on the defense next year we are looking at 8-4 then in 2012 I think will be a year where RR really turns the program from middle of the pack Big Ten back to a BCS player.

They should never punt,

They should never punt, always onside kick to maximize offensive opportunities.

It is easy to state that this

It is easy to state that this is unacceptable because this is these stats not a desirable result. However, instead of spouting off these conclusory statements, what are your solutions?

You cannot just fire RR and go through another coaching hire debacle. Who is going to guarantee that Harbaugh will be coming to UM and if he does who is to say that he would not field a professional offer after 3 to 5 years.

Huge Hire

This would be a huge hire for the Gophers. Mike Leach has been a winner everywhere he has been. The year before he arrived at Kentucky, their quarterback passed for 967 yards. In Leach's first year, his quarterback, Tim Couch, threw for 3,884 yards; the year after that, Couch, who lasted for only a few disappointing years in the N.F.L., threw for 4,275 yards. After Kentucky, Leach moved to Oklahoma for a single season, 1999. That year Oklahoma went from 101st to 8th in the country in offensive scoring. Its quarterback, Josh Heupel, passed for 3,850 yards that season, which was 1,700 more than any quarterback in Oklahoma football history had thrown for in a season

Also, Leach learned to recruit in Texas with the high profiled recruits going to OU, UT, and A&M. With the exception of Crabtree not many of Leach's TTU players were NFL talents and he was still competing with the best in the Big 12.

MSU did play Wisconsin at

MSU did play Wisconsin at home and OSU travelled to Madison (one of the toughest places to play) at night.

I do think that MSU's rushing attack is better than Wisconsin and they could beat OSU depending on where it is.

Sparty will be Sparty though and lose a few games that they shouldnt

I think we can all agree that

I think we can all agree that it is going to take some time. Now I am still on the RR bandwagon and unlike some fans, I want to see him successful and strive here because I think he can (look at the progression of the offense). However, it is extremely frusterating to see him stand there and make comments like that saying Vince Lombardi couldnt fix our defense. He may not be able to but RR needs to stop complaining and start doing.

I agree with the depth and

I agree with the depth and inexperience of the defense, but whose fault is that? Can we really blame Lloyd for the talent deficiency on defense. Granted Woolfolk's injury was not anyone's fault and Carr did recruit Cissoko. But this is seriously becoming an issue, the defense is not just bad; its one of the worst in the country. This is not EMU this is Michigan and the kids on defense lack the basic fundamentals, i.e. tackling and staying in their gaps/lanes,

Blame no one, expect nothing,

Blame no one, expect nothing, do something

Lloyd Carr once said this and got the quote from the Jets locker room, someone should relate this to RR and explain what it means. He needs to start being accountable for his failures and successes.
