Did I ever tell you

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky took me out to go get a drink with him? We go off looking for a bar and we can't find one. Finally Brasky takes me to a vacant lot and says, "Here we are." We sat there for a year and a half and sure enough someone constructs a bar around us. The day they opened we ordered a shot, drank it, and then burned the place to the ground. Brasky yelled over the roar of the flames, "Always leave things the way you found em!"

At this point, I'm almost in

At this point, I'm almost in favor of the team purposely tanking next week against Wisconsin in order to ensure that MSU doesn't get an outright B10 title, especially if OSU goes down today.

Almost.

Sadly, Clarett's troubles

Sadly, Clarett's troubles really only came to light after the MNC.

It reminds me a little of the Mark McGwire/Sammy Sosa stuff in 1998, where everyone knew they were juicing and there was some evidence but not enough to tank them completely.  But if Newton gets nailed before the season's over, I've gotta think it'd be pretty unprecedented.

I think having medical redshits is cause for granting players medical redshirts.

Really bummed out

Really bummed out but I blame myself.

Finally!  Someone taking responsibility for the awful defense!

Also, he was apparently blind

Also, he was apparently blind until recently.  Not bad production, considering.

Oh please.  That's like

Oh please.  That's like saying the QB #16 in NCAA '11 could be any random #16 in Michigan history, rather than Denard.  Except for #1, there aren't that many jersey numbers that enough different big time players have worn to be able to legitimately say you're not singling one out specifically.  "What, this #2 jersey?  Charles Woodson?  Never heard of him.  This is my authentic 2008 Sam McGuffie jersey!"

And, hopefully, minus any Ed

And, hopefully, minus any Ed Martins....

...Or seismic advantages.

...Or seismic advantages.

I don't see it happening.  No

I don't see it happening.  No matter how explosive he is, it's unlikely any NFL team would use him as a QB, except in a quasi-wildcat situation.  He'll probably convert to a WR in the NFL, like Antwaan Randall El.  But unless Denard converts to WR in college, I doubt he'd go in the first round of the NFL draft because he wouldn't have proven he can play WR at a high level going into the draft.  So that's less incentive to jump early.

Plus, dude seems like a likable, grounded guy.  Graduating is probably important to him.

  We've all seen the

We've all seen the pictures.

Still fun to see them again!

But is it really complete

But is it really complete until we have Preview 2010: Preview 2011?

QB is a lot harder of a

QB is a lot harder of a position to play, and generally the more experience the better the QB will be.  RBs can come in as freshmen and do well.  The QBs' experience here is better than nothing, but it's probably not optimistic to rate them higher than a 3 till they've got two full years of experience under each of their belts.

Why not?  A bunch of their

Why not?  A bunch of their football players apparently need representation now.

I'm taking both PA and NJ,

I'm taking both PA and NJ, handwriting both although they allow laptops and I always did law school exams on the laptop.  Based on the practice essays, you can pretty much get away with writing a single 5-sentence paragraph for each issue, and each essay has about 4 issues.  So, you've only got to write about 20 sentences per essay, which is much more manageable than the word vomit law school exams turned into.  I'm not too worried about not having enough time to finish the essays.

Don't have a link because the

Don't have a link because the Every Three Weekly's website doesn't have any archives, but in 2002 Brian wrote an article for the UM satirical paper E3W titled, "John Navarre Blamed for Offense, Defense, Kicking Game, Iraq, 9/11, Everything Else."

That's the first thing I always think about when I see people who criticize Navarre.  He had a lot of faults as a QB, but by his graduation I had become a fan of his.

Seriously.  I heard he caused

Seriously.  I heard he caused 9/11, the Great Depression, and the Holocaust.

They should erect a dome and

They should erect a dome and put in a giant 90" HD screen, like at the Dallas Cowboys' stadium.

Plus, isn't the general

Plus, isn't the general consensus that David Terrell would've come back in 2001 if Henson hadn't left?  The run D in 2001 was pretty sick (ignoring TJ Duckett); they just lacked an offense.

Retributive justice feels

Retributive justice feels nice, but would essentially fuck over LLP's future.  If he wasn't able to pay for school, he'd have to drop out and wouldn't get his degree.  It sucks that he's been kicked off the team, but I'm still rooting for him to succeed in life.

Gotta say I'm pleased with

Gotta say I'm pleased with his solid academic prospects, considering the press lately on some other, unnamed recruits.  Will be nice to point to guys like Sousa to counter crap like, "RR only recruits meatheads!!1!!!1!"

Yes, that's exactly it: it's

Yes, that's exactly it: it's a good decision for all NCAA players to quit school as soon as they are good enough to make money, be it in the NBA or overseas.  Considering how insane the NBA has become with throwing money at anyone with "potential," and the fact that, at 21, Harris is considered an "old man" by NBA teams, he probably should have entered the draft sooner.

Smart OSU fans?  They must be

Smart OSU fans?  They must be the ones without Buckstaches.

Dilithium cannot be

Dilithium cannot be quantified.

That's also when ND started

That's also when ND started Returning to Glory.  Coincidence???

Considering how much they

Considering how much they locked down UT last year in the B12 championship game, their defense, at the least, was top-notch.  And they have a tradition of having strong Ds.  I don't imagine that'll suddenly go away.

But their O will only improve if they bring back the triple option :)

Step 1: Realize the echos

Step 1: Realize the echos haven't stirred for decades.

Step 2: ???

Step 3: <s>Profit!</s> <s>Return to Glory!</s> Join the Big Ten!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

What I want to know is

What I want to know is whether NCAA Football '11 will let you reorganize conferences.  I'd finally be able to get U Chicago back into the B10.

Just like how everyone

Just like how everyone thought they'd bring down the hammer on MLB a few years ago for the steroids stuff?  ;)

I suppose Congress could do something, but no way some politician up for reelection is gonna vote to take away money or otherwise harm the elite football program(s) in their state.

As I understand it, if/when

As I understand it, if/when the B10 expands into states where there currently isn't Big Ten Network coverage, Comcast/whoever will almost certainly quickly start broadcasting the BTN there.  So, for instance, the state of Missouri doesn't currently get BTN on Comcast, but if the B10 adds Missouri then the BTN will broadcast there, adding the sizable St. Louis market.  Thus, more money.  Ditto if the B10 adds Rutgers (broadcast BTN in New Jersey and maybe NYC).  Etc.

In sum, the money Missouri, et al are currently getting in their TV deals would be superseded by the BTN money, since Comcast would charge customers a higher rate for the BTN than what those schools are currently getting through their TV contracts (e.g., the B12 has a TV deal with Fox Sports, I believe, which pays out less than what Missouri, et al would stand to make based on something like $0.88 x number of cable TV subscribers in the entire state).

So it is more than just a shifting around of money.

What does this say? I'm not

What does this say? I'm not really sure other than maybe Red Zone efficiency isn't incredibly important. The horrible 2008 offense was not that far off the average and actually better than the 2004 and 2005 teams; the beyond horrible 2009 defense was actually considerably above average.

Well, yeah, the 2008 O wasn't far off the average... They just didn't get to the RZ all that much.

And that's really the

And that's really the Catch-22 with axing RR early: the team is set up right now as a spread offense, so you'd need to either hire another spread coach, or hire someone who runs a different offense and then wait 3+ years for his recruits to get into place.

Even had Arrington, Mallett, et al stayed in 2008, I don't think the record would've been much better: those guys were pro-style guys and wouldn't have been as suited for the spread.  Shit takes times to implement.  I'll take Brian's patience and raise him: I expect this year and next to show improvements, but I don't think we can evaluate RR until 2012 when Tate, Denard, et al are seniors.

Wow, I'd somehow missed the

Wow, I'd somehow missed the news on Boren's little bro not getting a scholarship offer prior to big bro's transfer.  Really puts in focus what Boren was complaining about when he railed on RR's lack of "family values."

Or highlighter yellow like

Or highlighter yellow like one of Oregon's 8 billion jerseys?

Fears that people would turn

Fears that people would turn up the TV volume and then you'd be able to hear the band playing?

Agreed.  They should include

Agreed.  They should include randomized entrance and pregame injuries.

"Ohio State will have to go to their backup quarterback today, No. 12, because starting QB No. 2 was shot by a sniper during pregame warmups."

Philly's already

Philly's already contributing, since the BTN is carried all over Pennsylvania.  But getting NY and NJ subscribers...wow, that'd be a lot of money.

When did DJ Qualls learn to

If Kelly's behind this video,

If Kelly's behind this video, it instantly justifies the hire for all eternity.

Like Tom Jackson said, being

Like Tom Jackson said, being a leader doesn't matter if you're on the bench.

The problem is that the

The problem is that the ignorant talkshow meatheads are already complaining about the pick, saying that the Eagles should've picked a safety.

I love the Eagles and love the pick, obviously, but damn do I hate many of the fans.

Ouch, Rutgers beating ND?

Ouch, Rutgers beating ND? That's gotta sting.

The thing about contracts is

The thing about contracts is that the only harm in breaking one is that you might have to pay some money to the other side. No court on earth would force UM to continuously play ND if UM wanted to breach the contract--they'd just make UM pay money to ND. It might be a lot of money, but I imagine it'd be offset by the additional revenue generated by the additional B10 schools, if expansion happens.

Boise will probably be ranked

Boise will probably be ranked pretty high to start 2011--losing starters or no, people will rank them at least in the top-20 if they have another good year this year. Beating them to start the season would make UM jump up significantly, irrespective of how either team does from there on out. It might impact the BCS rankings, but I'm a pessimist and don't expect UM to be in the MNC hunt in 2011, so it's kind of a moot point.

Until we hear otherwise, I'm

Until we hear otherwise, I'm assuming that RR's just trying to motivate Tate by making him think his starting job is in jeopardy.

You've clearly forgotten

You've clearly forgotten about 2006.

Front Butt was Brady's OC

Front Butt was Brady's OC first

Mallet's arm is truly

Mallet's arm is truly remarkable, but his delivery looks soooooooo sloooooooooow. Not to say he can't be successful, but he's gonna need to be a smart QB and also get lucky enough to be drafted into an offensive system that takes advantage of his skills (huge arm) and minimizes his deficiencies (slow delivery; not mobile). He won't do well in a system that has lots of short, quick passes, but could thrive in a system designed around the long bomb.
