18 weeks 4 days ago Do you know Jim Harbaugh personally?

Sorry, but you are misguided....whether you like to admit it or not, most schools, including Michigan, DO steer players to majors that are less rigorous so they can concentrate on as much time as possible to football. Yes it hurts to admit it, but I was a trainer for the football team for 3 years when Harbaugh was there and challenging majors were the exception, not the rule.  Players who come to mind were Stefan Humphries and Ken Higgins (a fraternity brother), who were excellent students and quite frankly destined to success outside of pro football. While Stefan ended up being a very good lineman for the Broncos, he is better known as a doctor now and Higgy is a venture capitalist after getting his law degree from Harvard (he still notes to this day that law school at Harvard was easier than undergrad B School at Michigan, when coupled with the demands of football).  So get off your high horse.

I played sports against Harbaugh growing up in Ann Arbor and there was no question that he was a stud and a leader and was destined to go to Michigan and be successful there.  It all came to fruition and he has quite the resume to attest to his excellence and stature as a Michigan man.

So spare me your bs about how Jim Harbaugh is not a Michigan man because he criticized his alma mater.  He loves Michigan as much as any other Michigan man and deserves the respect and honor affored them with his proven dedication to Michigan.  You can piss and moan becuase he doesn't kiss your ass and tell you what you want hear 24/7, but them's the facts and sometimes the facts hurt.

And BTW, hoping he is a failure in his career endeavors is quite the noble position.  Grow up and save the whine for your next cheese party...

Go Blue!  Those Who Stay Will Be Champions....

1 year 25 weeks ago I am all for your idea...

but i think that the thought process Brandon has shared with the public tells us otherwise.

1 year 25 weeks ago Stanford, 11-1, 4th in the BCS

this is my future under Harbaugh?!?  Orange or Fiesta Bowl?  I'll take it...

1 year 25 weeks ago It's all about the team, the team, the team

unfortunately, the team today only consistents of a very good offense that can move the ball between the 20's against good defenses and can't score points.  When was the last time you saw a team going for it on 4th and 8 at the 35yard line?  When the special teams were so damn embarrassing that they can't expect to pin them inside the 20 yrd line on a punt or make a 45 yard FG more than 50% of the time.  When 2 facets of your team are so god awful that you throw all caution to the wind, you know your team is ill prepared and not ready to compete in a major conference.  The gig is up.  Sorry I can't help you here, as you cannot expect the O to score every time unless they are playing U Mass......

1 year 25 weeks ago Good luck with that

it's not gonna happen....I am eager for a change as much as the next fan, but it doens't make any sense.  Brandon is too calculated in his moves to try and make a drastic move in the next 4 wks, as this would be a knee jerk reaction of a desparate institution.  If he wants a new HC, he will make his decision and move forward.  If he has already discussed a wholesale change of the D staff with Coach Rod, he would line it up and implement it after the bowl game.  The only scenario where i could see this playing out is if Coach Rod is fired and a whole new staff was brought in.  But again, I don't see this happening til after the bowl game.  It sure sucks for recruiting, but this is HIS decision and HIS legacy that he is dealing with and given his demeanor up to this point, a knee jerk move is likely not in the cards.

1 year 25 weeks ago It's about W's and L's

at the end of the day, it about the wins and losses.  Everything else can be psycho-analyzed until the cows come how.  He just hasn't won enough and couple that with o-fer vs MSU, OSU and PSU and you have a shit storm of gigantic proportions.  I thought he would make it through these last 2 wks since most of us expected that they would result in losses, but now even the most faithful alumni and former players are losing faith.  They are simply sick and tired of the excuses and the losses to our rivals.  If we saw progress outside of the offense, there would be a glimmer of hope, but it has not materialized, and people want a change.

We all know the Detroit MSM is seriously skewed by many from MSU, so we shit can their drivel, but former players see what we are seeing and its simply embarrassing.  Enough is enough.  Coach Rod is a great guy and he has not gotten a fair shake from the media, but that does not excuse the lack of progress.  It was simply not a good match and Brandon needs to think about the future and find a better fit.

1 year 25 weeks ago It's a nice idea...

but Harbaugh would bring Vic F with him as his DC.  Unlike Coach Rod, when Stanford's D sucked last year, he cleaned house and let his new DC bring in some of his own guys....net result, 9 or 10th worst D in Pac10 last year is one of the top 3 this year.....so it CAN be done.  You have to admire Coach Rod's loyalty to his assistants, but its obvious that they are not cutting it coaching the D.  The apologists can chime in now about youth, injuries, etc...but let's face it, the D did not improve as the season progressed, they regressed.

I just got back from the Stanford/Ore State game and the can of whoop ass that Stanford opened up on that team was impressive.  Their third shutout of the season.  Any way you look at it, impressive.

BTW, those naysayers saying Harbaugh couldn't adapt to Shoelace, Tate or DG as QB are high...this is the same coach that used Tavita Pritchard as his QB to upset USC in the Coliseum.  He adapted this year's O without Toby G.  He plays a mix of power I, spread, west coast and shit i have never seen before to run an innovative offense based around the playmakers on the field.   You would NOT see another regression to 3-9 or 4-8 with Harbaugh as coach.  Any you would also not see an embarrassing special teams display like we saw today and all season with the current coaching staff.  Even when Harbaugh didn't have the horses and his first 2 years, their special teams were respectable.

My ticket renewal and $5K Victor's Club donation sit on my desk until Brandon makes his decision.

1 year 29 weeks ago Stanford 7-1, M 5-3....there's your bs...

Read the thread idiot...it was in response to Stanford not being a destination school and a difficult place to recruit for, while Michigan has these advantages....for elementary dolts like yourself that just want to flame instead of having civil debate.  This was simple snap shot to demonstrate my point....Harbs can recruit anywhere and if he's the next head coach in A2, the recruiting will not suffer.  To your flamed point, its what you DO with your recruits that matter and it sure appears Harbaugh and his selected coaching staff are doing more with his recruits than our beloved Coach Rod is doing.

Either way, nothing will be decided until the end of the season and entire body of work is reviewed by Brandon.  I sure hope they can get that 6th win, as the seniors on this team deserve some type of post season reward for their commitment and dedication, and the extra practice time is beneficial for building long term success.

1 year 29 weeks ago Seems Harbs recruits pretty well at a non destination school..

Current Verbal Commits with Rival's star rankings.  Much better than Rich Rod's destination school....some more facts for the Rich Rod apologists to chew on.  Appears that "recruiting will suffer" meme with a coaching change is bunk.  Though you are right about the NFL...the Niners will come calling later this year....

1 year 29 weeks ago sorry, but the rich rod experiment didn't work

I have rooted for coach rod from day one. But he simply hasn't gotten it done. He is no doubt a master of offense, but he is not only an OC. He's a HC and in this role, he's not gettin' it done. I hate like hell to admit it, but his lack of attention to defense is his achilles heel and we all know you don't win championships without defense. I have been in bay area for 20+ yrs since leaving my hometown of ann arbor and its clear to me that what harbaugh has done here is nothing short of miraculous. Take a quick peek at his current commits. 8 four star recruits at stanford. A school with zero tolerance for substandard grades and test scores to be admitted. Meanwhile, M struggles to find players to join the winningest program of all time.

Its done, harbaugh needs to be brandon's #1 focus. He will have them competing for B10 championships in 2-3 yrs. The only obstacle with Harbs is some fabily dynamics that have to be addressed with his previous wife and kids that he doesn't want to adandon by moving back to A2. If he can't resolve this, he will stay at S for a long time or move to the Niners HC position that will oepn up at the end of the year.(Though I doubt he takes it...)

I am hoping he is able to work out the family dilemma and resurrect Bo's legacy. I know the guy and he has the right intentions and simply loves college football and what it stands for in developing young men into valuable contributors to society.

I have zero ill will towards coach rod and think he is a terrific person as well, but this has simply not worked out.
