Go here and you wont to leave. EVER.
http://www.cooterbrowns.com/main.html
Me and MGoSoftball spent New Year's day there during the Sugar Bowl and had a blast. About a jillion different beers on tap, amazing oysters and a HUGE selection of Po Boys. Oh yeah - and about 500 TVs. And everywhere are picnic tables so if you go alone you'll make friends fast with the people around you.
I'm telling you if I lived in NOLA I might get mail delivered there. It's freaking awesome.

Second this, and make sure to hit Pat O'Briens dueling piano bar after the game as well

OMG Fuck yeah! Have lotsa raw oysters. Then make you way over to the Camellia Grill for a Mocha Freeze. Pat O's is for tourists, but worth a look...

Go to the Camelia Grill first, for breakfast. You cannot go wrong with anything on their breakfast menu. You'll get a lot of "local flavor" there, too.

Cooter Brown's is a great sports bar, but it has no windowns and after a while it really feels like you're in a cave.
I prefer either Tracey's Irish Pub on Magazine and 3rd Uptown or Ryan's Irish pub in the French Quarter.

Mannings is a great place to watch a game

Agreed. If you can get a good table, it's a great spot to watch the game.

...decidedly off the Bourbon/Canal Street beaten path, but an easy street car ride to the end of the St Charles line. Great NO-style food at reasonable prices, a deep selection of regional craft beers, and a friendly, enthusiastic and well-educated football crowd.

Was just in New Orleans this week do work and watch football there on Saturday and Sunday. good crowds, tons of beer on tap, good food and lots of TVs. Its on Royal, just off Canal - the Wyndham French Quarter.

Last time I went here (Duece McAllister's bar!), they didn't have BTN. It replaced the old Checkered Parrot, which was my go-to spot. I live two blocks away.

They don't do much drinking in New Orleans

Nola-based M fan here. There is a special board for M bars, but I'll answer anyway. Cooter Browns is a place for M fans. Lots of beers, cheap food, lots of TVs, but can get crowded during LSU games. It's a beautiful half-hour streetcar ride from the Qtr. Much closer is Tracey's on Magazine, which tends to collect a lot of Big Ten fans. Can get crowded during LSU games, too. I live by Bourbon and I've never been happy with the sports bar options around here. I'd suggest Walk-Ons as a good spot. Of course, you can wedge yourself in just about any other French Qtr bar and some have BTN.

Molly's on the Market is a Michigan bar. At the edge of the Quarter.

Also, for Godsakes, eat at Herbsaint.

My wife just landed from San Fran, she went to Tulane for grad school, so we are headed to Frenchman street now for some killer live music,....looking forward to some more merriment on Saturday.... I'll send out the post game review on Sunday!

Give your wife a "Roll Wave!" for me. A backup option for you if Cooter Browns is too packed is Bruno's on Maple. It's a solid sports bar near Tulane. I watched this year's UM-ND game there, but I'd still go back.

Pleasant surprise seeing this thread. I'll be in the Big Easy this weekend as well. Cooter Browns in M gear bound..

I know you're looking for bars, but before you leave New Orleans, you have to go to 1 of 2 places.
Yo Mama Bar and Grill. Its a little hole in the wall on St. Peter St., but I've never been to a place with a better burger, anywhere. You will not be disappointed with the peanut butter bacon burger.
Pascal's Manale on Napoleon St. Best BBQ shrimp in the city and all the french bread for dipping that you could ever ask for.

That place has been around for literally a century, and the shrimp are worthy of a pilgrimage!

I had a good experience 2 weekends ago at American Sports Saloon at 1200 Decatur in the Quarter. Close to a lot of the touristy things, but they tuck about 25 screens in to what is otherwise a pretty typical corner NOLA location with bars on 2 floors. Food was solid and the beer selection was good.
I watched, while waiting for an M friend, with 4 Mississippi State grads, and relentlessly reminded them how nice it will be to have their coach next year. They seemed to think that was a real possibility.

Live in New Orleans currently and like cooter browns but is a little smaller than other sports bars. Mannings just off poydras has a ton of TVs and the bartenders are generally pretty good with putting your game up if you ask (even non SEC games). I watched Utah there Back when we still had some hope for the season...

Lot of eh suggestions here.
1) Get out of the Quarter.... it is just gross down there.
2) Cooter Browns is ok, but it is kind of just a dark cave.
3) Go to Tracey's on Magazine. It is where the local watch group used to do games... at least as of 2013. Also, decent food (or just go to Parasol's less than a block away, best feraking po boys in the city). Afterwards head to Balcony Bar up Mag. Get good n drunk there for the rest of the night.
I absolutely love this city... get out of the Quarter.
Edit: I almost completely forgot. My buddies and I collaborated on putting together a guide for easy explanation of our favorites. I guess I can share it with mgoblog.

Good food, lots of tv's. Great spot to go if you are heading to a game at the Superdome.
