I'm tired of the forum nazis here.

Worst thing about watching

Worst thing about watching BTN games for me, by far, is the annoying sound effect they play whenever the down and distance graphic drops down below the score. It's this mechanical whir that is both entirely unnecessary (do they really need to draw attention to information that is already displayed on the field as well?) and overused (probably 50+ times per game).

If someone is going to

If someone is going to downvote a post condemning a man to giving in to racist pressures, they should at least have the courage to say why.

Whatever a "Michigan Man"

Whatever a "Michigan Man" means, it should never have anything to do with a coach who benched a player for being black. A "Michigan Man" would have refused to play the game.

Brian - you're being unnecessarily provactive by talking of sending agents into Iran to bring the country to civil war. This is breaking your own rule against politics on this site.

The point is if Ace is going

The point is if Ace is going to call Denard "masterful", then he can't make a blanket statement at the end saying Rodriguez's fingerprints are "smudges". It's bush league and petty.

What an unnecessarily dickish

What an unnecessarily dickish end to the article. Rich Rod's "smudged" fingerprints also include the quarterback you laud.

The refs just have discretion

The refs just have discretion based on the severity. There's nothing explicitly about blood or injuries. It does say though that a major resulting from a hit to the head or face is an automatic game misconduct. But that's not really relevant here because I'm arguing it shouldn't have been a major to begin with.

A guy who enabled a child

A guy who enabled a child rapist to continue raping? The rush to eulogize the recently, famously deceased no matter how shit they were as people is bad enough, but in this case can we at least let him die before calling on the heavenly host to cast down a chariot for him to ride upwards and onwards in?

You need another option for "Only if they make the numbers the same shade of yellow".

People are seriously overreacting. Scheduling them means getting the shittiest team that will still guarantee entertainment to the fans. It's a craven business decision, but its reality when you need a creampuff on the schedule to balance on the new B1G.

Plus, since when are we afraid to play anyone?

Same. I had to turn injuries

Same. I had to turn injuries off. Four straight games, Denard was injured in the first half.

Also, I've never in my life seen a quarterback miss a receiver by 20 yards or more. In this game though? Run Denard once or twice and you'll be lucky if he can place the ball on the same side of the field as his receiver.

Same here. I've had at least

Same here. I've had at least a half dozen instances of a ball going straight off a receiver's helmet.

My issue with the game is that the animations haven't improved much in years. For all the improvements in lighting and such, all sense of realism is gone when a player looks like he's floating or is running like a robot.

As a Devils fan, this is great news. Campbell had it out for the Devils, going back to his days as a Rangers coach.

Well said, Brian.

Braylon

Well said, Brian.

Braylon is an embarassment. Every time he drives drunk, every time he gets in fights at night clubs, every time he acts like a petulant child by taunting opposing players he does damage to Michigan.

I´m done with him, personally. He was a great player once, and now he´s just an asshole that likes to run his mouth. Rodriguez wasn´t successful, but at least he was a good guy by all accounts. Same can´t be said about Braylon.

I remember the incident that

I remember the incident that caused the opposing parents to be moved across the ice. I'm pretty sure it was against Ferris State. We were really laying into them, and one of the girlfriends came charging up at the guy in the row in front of me and just started tossing haymakers. It was glorious, absolutely glorious.

Sadly, that was the beginning of the end.

The game has looked really

The game has looked really good in still shots for the last couple of years. What they haven't gotten around to fixing yet is the animation. What good is really nice lighting if your player runs like a half-donkey / half-robot abomination?

It takes a special kind of

It takes a special kind of suspension of disbelief to argue that an entire police department is crooked, and that both field sobriety and toxicological tests are wrong. Oh, and also that his lawyer is incompetent by signalling he'll accept a plea bargain.

But yeah, you're right. It doesn't sound likely that Braylon was driving drunk at all.

Wife, is that you?

Wife, is that you?

Yes, I would plead guilty.

Yes, I would plead guilty. But then again I'm a man, and not a spoiled, entitled child.

You realize there's another

You realize there's another option, right? One beyond hiring a lawyer to publically call into question the police's methods while also hinting you'd settle for a plea bargain? It's called pleading guilty.

Every single person that has argued what Braylon is doing is fine is taking it from the angle of "this is his legal right". Absolutely it's his right - no one can dispute that because the fact he's even trying it proves it's indisputable.

And all of that is separate from a discussion of the quality of Braylon's character. There is abso-fucking-lutely nothing brave or noble or high minded about committing a crime and trying to not be convicted for it. That makes you a survivalist, but it does not make you a role model. Maybe every one of us would do the same (although that presupposes we all have money for the kind of legal team Braylon has), but that doesn't make us good people.

Braylon trying to dodge responsibility for his actions is a scumbag, childish maneuver. And what's sad is that "childish behavior" is becoming a pattern for the guy, be it publically interjecting himself into Michigan's coaching situation by telling the world he went to "Lloyd Carr's University of Michigan" or taunting opposing players as a Jet.

But hey negbang me to hell for voicing a dissenting opinion, while throwing pejoratives along the way. When you're done though explain to me how this isn't what we'd expect of Sparty.

Honestly, this board is one

Honestly, this board is one step away from a Sparty hangout. There's some reasonable counter-arguments, but they're drowned out by the name calling. Really? That's the best you guys got?

Reality is Braylon's got a lawyer whose trying to dismiss the DUI charge by arguing, amongst other things, against the reliability of field sobriety and toxicological tests. This is what people here are so eager to defend? Really?

Do any of you really believe these are the kinds of lessons Bo or Lloyd taught? That if you're caught doing something wrong, to try to weasel out of responsibility for it? Come the f on, guys. Would any of you be acting the same way if this wasn't a "hero"?

Seriously disappointing.

You are a kind of super

You are a kind of super genius. You went from an honest question based on the reality of what was being done in this case, to declarations of a commo-facist police state in fewer than 3 steps.

I wasn't asking anything at

I wasn't asking anything at the start. I was declaring that Braylon needed to be a man and accept the consequences of his actions. Then a lot of people went apeshit about how unreasonable I am being about Braylon making use of the legal system.

So my question became: does this board not give a shit about what he is accused of doing? And would the board be cool with him if he technically was not convicted of anything, but was obviously guilty?

To answer your question: this particular case is different from countless other legal cases because the accused is a former Michigan great.

Open Question

Lot of people arguing really hard that Braylon is perfectly in the right for trying to have the case against dismissed on technicalities. So, a question:

If it comes out in next few weeks that

  1. Braylon was indisputably drunk when he was driving;
  2. Braylon is not convicted because his lawyer succesfully argues that the tint on Braylon's windows were not dark enough to warrant being pulled over.

Then what? Are you fine with what Braylon did? Are you ok that he escaped any legal consequences?

I ask because the most vocal here have been arguing that he is doing nothing wrong in trying to avoid punishment, without really addressing the question of if he did anything wrong in the first place.

Wow, dude, really? All right,

Wow, dude, really? All right, whatever.

Anyway, on topic: This has nothing to do with trying to defend himself in court. This is about Braylon having a lawyer who is simultaneously trying to:

- Argue the legality of why Braylon was pulled over;

- Argue against the legitimacy of field sobriety and toxicology tests;

- If all else fails, accept a plea bargain.

Not a single one of those options is arguing that Braylon was not, in fact, driving drunk.

In 2000, a good friend of

In 2000, a good friend of mine (and fellow Michigan undergrad) was killed by a drunk driver while driving her little sister home from her first homecoming dance. This kind of stuff strikes a chord with me. It's disheartening that so many here are so quick to rationalize away someone being an asshole and driving drunk.

Braylon is rich and because he is rich he's got fancy lawyers who are trying to have the evidence of his crime dismissed. This is a scumbag thing to do. Man up and accept your actions.

Why are so many people who

Why are so many people who spend their mornings F5-ing mgoboard always such assholes to people who don't? Congratulations! You read this article three times already! Some people have jobs and meetings and responsibilities that mean they can't endlessly refresh all day.

Here's a simple rule to follow: if you've seen something already, ignore it. Corollary: while ignoring, resist the urge to be a d-bag and tell everyone you're ignoring it.

That ITF was among the more

That ITF was among the more worthless things they've written in a while. They said absolutely nothing, and were vague enough to ensure just about anyone could find something to support their opinion. There were no hints, and there was no subtlety. They could have saved me the 60 seconds it took to read it by saying "Could go either way."

Scott Stevens

I'm not arguing that Stevens is the greatest of all time, but since his name has come up a couple times I just wanted to throw this out there: I've never seen a better combination of shut down D, game-changing hits and leadership. The thing about the Devils that won all those cups is that they were laser-focused. Didn't matter if they were down 3 games to 1 in a series, they still played like they were going to win. And when it was in doubt, he'd come up with a hit that would change everything.

The Devils long slide to mediocrity has come from a lack of real leadership (and, also, not replacing any of Stevens, Daneyko, Niedermayer, Rafalski or Martin).
