Moderator Action Sticky

Brian has requested that instead of deleting each individual comment in the Moderator Action Sticky, that we instead just create a new thread. It takes hours of less time, preserves the comments for future explanations, and just clears things up faster.

You'll notice that the previous thread is now locked, and will slowly fade back into darkness. For the time being, the link from the Useful Stuff menu will point to the wrong location. We're working on a fix for that.

 

This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

Also, OP gets sent to Bolivia until after the bowl game for creating two obnoxious threads in less than a week's time (first was something to the effect that people need to "chill out" about Urban Meyer).  If he were a new user I'd be more patient but, alas, that is not the case.

In addition to that we have a runaway cart video, Piston's general moaning, high school coaching changes (I don't think Saline is really hot recruiting news), and Red Wings goalie All-Star voting (local team, but not exactly big news for a local team), all on the front page.

When is OT OT, and and is it ok? I'm not sure how a cool movie trailer is different than a cool runaway cart gif. Is it because it was at a football game?  Would the Dark Knight Trailer been ok since there's football in that?

Wasn't my thread, so I'm not particularly hurt by it. But it's kinda confusing to see 7 OT's on the front page list right now, and this is more than others.

I think we feel bad pulling EVERYTHING from the board, so during lulls we let the kinda-OT stuff slide if nothing else is happening. So the football-related stuff, or the Detroit sports related stuff, stays.  But really, really OT stuff gets the axe (with the POSSIBLE, narrow exception of Christmas-related stuff this week).

With that said, what the tapdancing hell is up with all of the OT in the last couple of days?

Thanks for being apologetic about it before posting. The news is tangentally related to Michigan since Lewan and Roh's coach is involved but the "RR is learning" tack (actually he's aping Dantonio) is not appreciated.

Wasn't intended to be a slam at all.  RR created a position at UofA solely to address an issue that became a (perceived) problem for him here.  If that's not learning, I'm not sure what is - and learning is always a good thing!  I should have eliminated the "finally" and the question mark though, that may have made it seem derrogatory when it wasn't meant to be.

Sometimes it is so hard to not take the email addresses of trolls (the ones where they've obviously, stupidly used the same email they have published publicly on FB) and sign them up for every spam list on the internet.

I haven't done this. But it is so hard not to sometimes. So so hard.

Questioning an athlete's intelligence (basketball intelligence or otherwise) is a recipe for getting a thread pulled. This is especially true for a kid who grew up in NBA locker rooms.  The fact that the OP refused to change the thread title to something non-sucky didn't help.
