An olde exerpt from the Daily, written about Michigan Rugby in September 1890:
OUR RUGBY TEAM
-THE NUCLEUS OF IT PRACTICING DAILY ON THE CAMPUS.-
The Campus has taken on a home like look this past week. Every afternoon has seen some of our canvas backed Rugby players tossing the ball back and forth or trying to kick goals. It has been cold and raw, but the spectators have had many a laugh as the boys would form an invincible V and split the wind with it, but if they have had nothing but the wind to buck against, they have at least been learning to stand shoulder to shoulder. And they are doing good work, these few who are back getting in condition by tossing the ball, tackling, breaking the line, trying the V or the gridiron, and learning the twist that gave Ames of Princeton his celebrated nick-name of “Snake Ames.”
The boys are working under Malley, who has brought back a trunk full of new tricks and has already began to teach his men a few of them. Abbott, Trainer, Hatch, DePont, Rathbone, Dygert, McAllister, Stone and Chadbourne take them as naturally as any canvas-back does to water. Of course the boys are all “soft,” and short winded as yet, but if they follow the liner laid down by Captain Malley it will be soiled meat and sand that Cornell runs up against this year.
I wish alums would calm down and stop freaking out that some college kids who want to write a song about their school. I promise the band won't stop playing The Victors, and their many other classics.
Vince runs a lot of his gardening work through connections in Ann Arbor. Alums have been helping the #eating project thrive. They have a thing up at teameating.com right now, I heard the paintings are pretty DOPE.
Learning the basics of programming is useful to most careers in engineering! Graduating CS-E definitely came close to killing me, but I am better off for it.
Mr. Smith, first thanks for coming here and taking the time to answer questions and share your perspective.
What's the latest with the garden and #eating? I love what y'all are up to! Need any more support?
This kinda reminds me of Cardale Jones with "I'm not here to understand science".. as if he's already overwhelmed with how much they're trying to teach him. He has a college degree from a decent school after all, I (wildly speculate that) it can't be *that* much learning.
I was wondering why clicking the comments link at the top of posts never moves the page down to the comments, so I peeped the source, and the id for the div in question is #forum-comments as opposed to plain 'ol #comments. Hope that helps.

Hutch wants it to happen. Rich Eisen wants it to happen. Andrew Sharp wants it to happen. America wants it to happen.

I donated, I'm so happy to support the great work you folks are up to! Also excited to see MrSmith's painting skills in action.

It can be stressful to get wrapped up in it, I'm slowly learning to detox. It's not easy.
I'm way too color blind to make out anything other than "Red" or "not Red"
Michigan fans are obnoxiously impatient. It's hard to get through this.
