Your most coveted 2017 recruits

Submitted by Hard-Baughlls on

First post...be gentle.  I was thinking who were the most coveted recruits left on the board for us this cycle and why.  Here's my top 5.

1) Cesar Ruiz - Having a solid center is a great start to building a dominant line

2) DPJ - Looks like we will already have a great reciever haul, but want to keep him away from OSU and MSU.  He seems to be a big UM lean, so would hurt if he went elsewhere.

3) Drew Singleton - Keep that Paramus Jersey pipeline flowing

4) Baron Browning - Looks like an elite LB and opens up the Texas floodgates

5) Leatherwood - Go head to head with Bama for a top recruit and flip him.

* I would have put in Najee Harris which would make it 2 years in a row where we get the top recruit, but it looks like a flip from Bama will be really tough at this point.

After seeing the highlights from The Opening I get the feeling that Thomas is going to be a special player.   I hope the rumours of Sparty leading aren't true

Those are easily the top 3 for me. Not only are they very good prospects at positions of need, but it would hurt more to lose them than anyone else on our board.

4  Ruiz  Fills a need and continues a pipeline. Also looks to be a recruiter.

Those four are the recruits I think are most essential to add. The rest are more like gravy on top of a really good class. The type of top end end talent you want regardless of positional needs.

5  Leatherwood  We're going to do well signing OL. He looks like the most ready to step in immediately. Plus the flip from Bama would be nice.

6  Browning

7  Harris

That's a great list. I'd add the following 3:

  1. Tufele. DT's are hard to find. Losing Solomon hurt, and we're not getting him back.
  2. Ambry Thomas. Very strong talent, and need to clean up in the state of Michigan.
  3. Darnay Holmes. He is a stretch, but is an elite quality CB. With Lewis and Stribling done this year, it is critical to bring in someone solid at that position.

1a.) DPJ

1b.) Leatherwood

1c.) Ruiz

4)  Jordan Anthony (IMG LB/RB. Doesn't get much attention on this website from what i've seen, but 24/7 Crystal Ball has him 57% going Blue. Also seems to be much more likely than Browning)

5a.)  Isaiah Wilson

5b.) Ambry Thomas (MLK DB, stock seems to be on the rise)

1. Thomas - can play WR or CB and we need both. 2. Ruiz - it's void after Mason and so critical to the whole O. 3. Browning - need a playmaker on D after Jabrill and thin LB corps. 4. JT or Aubrey - thin at NT and DT. 5. DPJ - thin at WR so fills 1 need but probably the most talented on the list
