Yahoo profile story on Jabrill Peppers
I'm usually not the biggest Pat Forde fan, but he's covered a lot of ground here and collected some interesting tidbits I was not aware of.

“Me and football,” Peppers says, “we’ve got a real good relationship. It got me out of a lot of bad situations. It started as a way to channel my aggression and my anger.”

Thanks. I personally didn't have that much background on his family. He truly is a special one.

Great story. Forde has steadily progressed into a decent sports journalist since his days at ESPN. Good to see that talented people know enough to get out of bad situations. This applies to both Jabrill and Pat.

I didn't think I could like Jabrill more, I was wrong.
September 29th, 2016 at 7:40 AM ^
One special dude. Coach Don Brown would probably say.
September 29th, 2016 at 7:43 AM ^
Jabrill is really good at football, and life.
September 29th, 2016 at 7:49 AM ^
Jabrill has a winning temperament, without a doubt.
September 29th, 2016 at 8:24 AM ^
The best temperament! And he makes huge plays, the best plays. And we're going to start winning again!
The problem is winning. We don't win anymore, we're getting killed by OSU and MSU, we need to make Michigan great again!
September 29th, 2016 at 8:30 AM ^
he is phenomenal on closing on sweeps.
They do need to train him to keep muscle coordination at top speed bec he often falls down on punt returns untouched and out of control. It appears he'd taking it to another gear he has never used. they should have him practice sprints sideways downhill to get coordination
September 29th, 2016 at 9:45 AM ^
Practice sprints sideways downhill? What? Why would he go downhill?
Yeah, Jabrill is pretty good but really needs to work on his punt returns. Checks stats...Oh he's number one in the country.

can someone please, for the love of god, call hannity?
September 29th, 2016 at 4:53 PM ^
Please don't taint Jabrill that way.
September 29th, 2016 at 8:03 AM ^
Love the way they drew up the play on Wilton's hand. I would hate to be Paul Chryst and trying to account for him on gameday. Man, I hope Jabril comes back for one more special year.
September 29th, 2016 at 8:58 AM ^
Not because I don't want to see him play at Michigan, I just want guys to get their $$ especially if they come from a poor background.

Money isn't everything.
September 29th, 2016 at 10:48 AM ^
I tend to agree, but it's really difficult to tell that to someone who has no money.
September 29th, 2016 at 11:35 AM ^
Maybe it's more accurate to say Speight explained Peppers' role in the play by describing it on the plam of his hand. Undoubtedly that play is in the playbook with the fake possibly going to Chesson or McDoom, however, neither of those players raise the fear factor in the eye of opponents the way Peppers does.
September 29th, 2016 at 11:48 AM ^
If we don't win the Natty this year, I think he will come back. It seems that the degree is important to his mother and to him. And there is insurance to cover injury.

that I want to be Jabrill Peppers when I grow up. Seriously: In 30-odd years, any of the following things (or combination thereof) could be true of this guy:
1) Is a hall-of-fame linebacker with a couple of superbowl rings
2) Is a Grammy-Winning recording artist
3) Is a successful businessman and producer
4) Has embarked on a coaching career, and is the head coach in waiting for the UM job
5) Is running for president after a succesful stint in Congress
6) Decided to become an actor and is now starring in the Avengers Reboot.
7) Has written a trilogy of books about a group of teens saving the world from something
I could keep going, but this kid is amazing.

A healthy Jabrill in 2014 and we win at least 7 games.

Why would you say that? When I read comments online I realize how intelligent I am and the more I read, I realize how much more intelligent I continue to grow, because it's unlikely that commentors are collectively getting stupider. I suggest everyone always read the comments, everywhere.

Yahoo comments have taken a very dire turn towards blatant racism over the past year or two. There must be some kind white nationalist forum that uses yahoo for their messaging or something.

This young man is going to do whatever he wishes. Actually, he will probably do many things during his lifetime and do them all well.
I was there in 1972. I missed being discharged from the Army straight from Vietnam by one month. So when I returned in '72, I had to spend my last 8 months in the Army working at the Armed Forces Induction Center, just off Broad St., in Newark, NJ.at the federal building. At that time there was a virtual day-to-day change between Newark and Detroit as being the "Murder Capital of the U.S." When I do visit Detroit and see all the empty lots, the structures still standing because they lack the tax dollars to raze them, I cannot imagine Newark being in any better shape.
I recall me and a friend going to a local bar situated across the street from my apartment complex. We had probably a beer each when the bartender called "Last Call." I looked at the c;lock and it was 9:00 p.m. I asked, "Is last call always at 9?" His reply, "Believe me, you don't want to be out past 9 in Newark." Because we always hit surrounding cities for our weekend relaxation, It was actually the only time I had ever been out in Newark in the p.m. but I got the message.
This young man and many from the city of Detroit have grown so much more than their counterparts from the burbs simply by keeping their grades up, going to school daily and attending the University of Michigan. It may be only my opinion, but many of these young men have accomplished so much more than those that see this as a natural "next step." Looking back, as much as I detested my time in the service, I'm thankful that I did serve those 8 months there. Without that time I would not have fully realized just how truly these young men already are. Yes, Jabril is great at football. He's also great at life.

“He wants to do as much as possible,” Harbaugh said. “He’s like a bull pawing the ground ready to attack.”
Awesome.
September 29th, 2016 at 12:52 PM ^
I like that Peppers. He's a baller.
September 29th, 2016 at 4:58 PM ^
Apparently he's good at football. He is good at football. Jabrill Peppers is good at football. This according to Coach Harbaugh.
September 29th, 2016 at 8:41 PM ^
has worn the winged helmet. He gets it.
September 30th, 2016 at 2:38 AM ^
Before every play I'm looking to see where he is and often watching him isntead of the ball. (Probably like the opposing OC.) And really, watching him is just as good because it's very likely he and the ball will meet in short order.
