Xfinity missing the boat on Big 10 Network.

Submitted by Wal-Mart Wolverine on September 6th, 2020 at 11:17 PM

Living all my life in Michigan, my wife and I relocated permanently down in Fort Myers, Florida last month and purchased a home in a gated community where they have Xfinity. I'm ready to sign up for the best package that has "Paramount" and "Showtime" but they do not offer the Big10 network at all. Is there any options that members can suggest as I don't want to miss any Wolverine football if they end up playing this year. Please advise . "Go Blue" !

Even the with the price hike YTTV is a good bargain not to mention the bump came because of adding channels like Paramount as the OP mentions. The unlimited DVR is the best offered anywhere.

They could bump this is another $20 and it would still be way better than the $200+ I was shelling out for before.

YTTV has a few season/episodes of AS but its definitely not what you would call a comprehensive list.

However, because of the unlimited YTTV DVR all you really need to do is add the show to your library, sit back and watch your DVR depository fill-up sorted by season and episode as if were native to the service--might take a couple of months.

I just pay the extra $6 for so a month for basic Hulu to get everything including all of the AS episodes but excluding the live service.

I do not miss Charter. In the six or so years I had Charter, I never changed my service and I also never received two consecutive bills for the same amount. I won’t even get into their lack of reliability and piss-poor customer service.

Having worked with my share of cable and telephone companies, though, they’re not the worst I’ve dealt with. The trick (at least for business connections) is to make friends with someone who knows what the hell they’re doing.

They're really not. In my area they are the only reliable internet provider, so rather than slicing and dicing, it's easier to use them for phone, cable and internet. I pay an extra $10/month for TCM and the NFL RedZone package in the fall, but the rest of the year my combined bill is $200/month.

Could I save $40 in equipment rental fees by switching? Probably. But it's not worth the hassle when service and customer care are always reliable. I've had them for 12 years without any major issues or concerns.

Interesting.  I switched from DirecTV to Comcast and I get the SEC Network here in Chicago, but you can’t get BTN in Florida?  Sure it’s not part of a package you may need to add to the service from your new place?  I got the 220+ channel package which is saving me $90 per month over DirecTV which was just getting crazy expensive.

Follow Up Note:  On the Xfinity website, I entered an address in Fort Myers Beach to see the channel lineup.  BTN is channel 742.

I remember 20 years ago the big thing was ESPN college game day. I remember traveling around the country to visit friends and family with my receiver to plug it into their dish to watch a lot of Michigan games while not at home.

I live in Tallahassee, and get the Big Ten Network through Xfinity with the "More Sports & Entertainment" package.  It's not on one of their "levels".  You have to specifically get the package add-on.

I live in North Fort Myers in a gated community and I have Xfinity's Comcast's Sports and Entertainment Package...Includes Big Ten SEC, Red Zone, FS1 and several others..I think it's like $5 a month

I live in Bonita Springs.  The introductory rate for the Sports and Entertainment Package is $5, but then it jumps to $9.99 after 12 months.  You can ask for the $5 rate once it jumps and if they won't give it to you, cancel and then reinstate for the $5.  I hate Comcast, but the options suck.  Streaming is a 20 second delay with occasional pixeling and satellite does not work in heavy rain.

...I've posted a link to a stream of every one one of Michigan's games for the last two years on this board.

My mom has Summit Broadband in Naples and BTN is in their base lineup. Summit has been laying fiber in hot spots around Florida and offering cable TV, internet, and telephone services at it's probably 40% cheaper than Comcast.

Before leaving Naples to st Pete I had Century Link. Ditched Comcast. Century Link had BTN and more channels for less. I’m stuck w Spectrum up here and BTN is a another package our condo doesn’t have. Check it out.

Semi-seriously, Wal-Mart Wolverine, you could take my approach. Wait patiently for the "every snap" versions of the games. Twenty minutes of continuous offense and twenty minutes of continuous defense, or forty minutes of continuous everything. No ads, no useless babbling by the color guy, just generally wonderful and time-efficient.

Eh....don’t worry about it!  You’ll have plenty of time to figure it out.  Schlissel needs a completely sterile environment for Michigan to play any organized sports again.  Maybe 2030 when a roof is put on the Big House so that they can provide an aerosol spray to disinfect the entire stadium throughout the game!
