WVU QB Chris Chugunov Grad Transferring to OSU

Submitted by Bambi on

In a pretty surprising move, it's been announced that backup WVU QB Chris Chugunov is grad transferring to OSU and will be on scholarship.

Chugnov was the 1128th ranked player in the composite in 2015. He just finished his RS SO year and has 2 years of eligibility remaining. He started the last 2 games last year after Grier got hurt and played in 5 total. For his career he's completed 47.1% of his passes at 5.8 YPA with 3 TDs and 3 INTs, as well as 7 rushes for -48 yards.

The move is surprising since he will be on scholarship and OSU is supposed to be full at 85 for 2018. OSU has said they don't have any roster additions at the time. So either Chugunov will join next year with 1 year of eligibility left or will join this with a different player leaving/losing their scholarship.

After the transfer of Joe Burrow to LSU, OSU has 3 QBs on scholarship for this year including a true freshman. This seems like a depth move but interesting nonetheless.

According to WVU fans "Chuggs" was so bad last year that WVU had to go Wildcat when he was playing. So OSU is desperate for bodies at QB.

Really, Scioto?

You tell me OSU fans don't think about the Michigan game all season (year) round? Michigan has been at the forefront of OSU's attention since 1951 (or before) when Woody could never stop thinking about Michigan. Woody put Michigan on the forefront of the mind of the entire state of Ohio and he did it deliberately.

...or perhaps you never realized that it was mutual? If not, then you should have.

this is probably a dumb question, but who exactly signs off on this at osu? i’m guessing it’s normally the head coach, but since he’s on leave i’m assuming urbs can’t do so right now. not that it really matters, just curious
