Submitted by skurnie on

We have come to the final match of the Group Stage for Groups A and B. Matches this week are 12pm EDT and 4pm EDT and are played simultaneously.

Group B

Netherlands - Chile 12pm EDT (ESPN)

Spain - Australia 12pm EDT (ESPN2)

Spain and Australia are both eliminated. Chile and The Netherlands are tied at 6 points but the Dutch hold a one goal advantage on differential.

Group A

Mexico - Croatia 4pm EDT (ESPN)

Brazil - Cameroon 4pm EDT (ESPN2)

Cameroon has been eliminated. Brazil is atop the group on Goal Differential (+2) but tied with Mexico at 4 points.

Mexico is through with a win or draw. If Croatia win, they will pass Mexico and will be into the knockout stage.

Croatia rose to the occasion in their crucial Euro 2008 defeat of England - after an apparent X-rated gaffe by an English opera singer at Wembley.

Tony Henry belted out a version of the Croat anthem before the 80,000 crowd, but made a blunder at the end.

He should have sung 'Mila kuda si planina' (which roughly means 'You know my dear how we love your mountains').

But he instead sang 'Mila kura si planina' which can be interpreted as 'My dear, my penis is a mountain'.

Croatians are still laughing--they even asked him to serve as their mascot.

been just as bad against Brazil. Granted, Brazil has extraordinary skill, but  Cameroon is simply appallingly bad on defense. Brazil should score 5 at least in this game.

Can probably go ahead and book his flight home after today's match. Guessing FIFA won't ask him to work any more in Brazil. Awful

almost assuredly books their trip to the knockout stages.

it's impressive how much this team turned it around since qualifying, but then again, they've always had the talent.

However Germany has nothing to play for if this game is tied at 0 in the 70th minute.  Mexico would not have gone through if Croatia gets a goal, so they still needed to pressure to try and get that first goal.  I'm sure Germany will be content to sit back and take the tie and 1st in the group in that scenario, but that's looking through red, white, and blue glasses.

Mexico barely qualified, then lost Corona and Montes.

No one was expecting anything from this team but they've put it together, starting with Memo Ochoa.
