Some Wisconsin fans are almost happy about this. Not because Coan's hurt, but because it opens the door for Graham Mertz to start. Coan by all means is just a guy/game manager, while Mertz is a RS Fr and the highest rated QB recruit to come to Wisconsin in recent history (possibly ever?). The upside with Mertz is significantly higher than any other option they have now, and probably higher than any QB they've had since Wilson.

Jack can injures foot?

I wasn't that good in my HS English class but even I can tell that you have done wrong.

True, what you've pointed out are the reasons I probably won't ban him, "probably"  being the key word.

TBH, I find him more often an annoyance and a work-in-progress than a serious problem. He has slowly gotten better at actually contributing to conversations every now and then, he doesn't go into attack mode against other MGoUsers, he doesn't spread covid disinformation, and I've sometimes found him somewhat entertaining when he talks about his "sparty crush".

Pony Conquerer's biggest problem, and what still might someday get him banned, is his continued habit of derailing serious discussions by injecting nonsense, something he's been warned about more than once.

My earlier comment was more a poke at him to get his attention than a stern warning.

Let’s be real, whoever Wisconsin throws back there at QB, that person’s primary job is to just hand the ball off to the RB 60-70% of the snaps and then not screw the rest up. This is not going to change Wisconsin’s bread and butter, or what they want to do offensively.

Wisconsin hasn’t needed a QB to ever be anything more than that since Russell Wilson.

Based on what? Mertz hasn’t played yet and we’re automatically assuming he’s going to play well? He’s highly ranked and hyped, but so are our backup and third string QB every year. So what’s the difference?

The only team that has come in with a backup or third stringer and played well against us is OSU and Bama. Which, it’s easy to look good with that much talent surrounding you.

Not sure why you think Mertz is for real but ignore the hype that surrounded guys like Shane Morris, John O’Korn, Dylan McCaffrey and Joe Milton.

He’ll have 8 weeks till UM so, unless it’s so bad he needs surgery, even a fracture would be healed by then. Depending on PT, he may need more than 8 weeks but I doubt it.

Edit: 6 weeks, sorry I had wrong date. It makes it less likely he’ll be back so I guess we’ll see

Careful what you wish for...

I saw Backup Graham Mertz at his Elite 11... thought he was the third best QB there behind Oklahoma’s Spencer Rattler and Auburn’s Bo Nix....

Nix threw for 2500 yards at a completion rate of 57% with 16 touchdowns and 6 interceptions and is on the exact same trajectory this season.

Jack Coan threw for 2700 yards at a 69% completion rate with 18 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

So what your saying is Bo Nix was better than Graham Mertz and Bo is definitely worse than Jack factually based on stats. So therefore you believe we should be careful what we wish for? Yep makes total sense.
