William Strampel Arrested

Undisclosed charges.  Larry Nassar's former boss, the Dean who was actively rooting for him and discounting the victims stories while he allowed Nassar to abuse more girls.  Failure to report or obstruction of justice seem like the obvious options here.

For all this time, I wondered when he would grace us with his shit-ridden presence again, and if this account is indeed the man himself, then today is the day. I wonder what sorts of gratuitous abuse he'll heap on people too.

It is times like this where taking the role of a moderator seems like....a major error in judgment, but I do my best all the same.

for the rest of us, and only the fringe of the fringe thinks otherwise.  now, it may be an error in judgment in regards to your lavish payment for your efforts  and way too much time away from the rest of what's important in your life, but that's the community service part.

LSA, if you get a minute, could you please take a quick peak at his/her short history and swing that hammer again?  also excelling at bizarre negative trolling.

thanks.

A Michigan State University administrator who oversaw the clinic where disgraced former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar worked is now facing criminal charges of his own for allegedly storing nude photos of female students on his work computer and inappropriately touching a student.

William Strampel, who was dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine until late last year, was charged Tuesday with a felony, a high court misdemeanor and two misdemeanors. He is due to be arraigned in the afternoon, the Associated Press reported.

Investigators who looked at Strampel's computer found around 50 images of "bare vaginas, nude and semi-nude women, sex toys, and pornography," according to the Detroit Free Press, citing a court affidavit.

The newspaper also said, citing the affidavit, that Strampel tried to solicit nude photos from at least one student and approached a woman from behind and grabbed her buttocks during the college’s annual ball in 2010. The woman later went on and told police that she never reported the incident at the time because she was afraid she would be removed from the school.

The 70-year-old Strampel also told police last year he never followed up after ordering Nassar in 2014 to have a third person present when providing treatment to "anything close to a sensitive area."

"Despite his representation of his (and the College's) intended response to the allegations against Nassar, Strampel did not actually enforce or monitor the protocols, nor did he alert other employees in the sports medicine clinic about the existence of the protocols, let alone order that they be followed with respect to Nassar," the affidavit says.

Strampel was charged with neglect of duty, fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and misconduct of a public official. The charges carry sentences of one, two and up to five years in prison, respectively.

I have no trouble fitting it in under RICO. The MSU coverup team really overachieved. You could really charge them with a boatload of stuff. I doubt they will, but they could . . .

Lou Anna should be next and I will also be voting against all sitting MSU trustees regardless of politics. This is more important than sports, politics, or academic reputation.

At least it's a start.  In other news, Rachael Denhollander had another awesome zinger on Facebook.  Squirm you little snakes...  Squirm.  I hope this means the dominos have started to fall...

Denhollander-

"MSU President Engler's choice to lie about the survivor's motives, the reason mediation stalled, and our legislation, and throw around fear tactics has resulted in some of the survivors receiving harassing messages blaming them for the position MSU is in. These women, including parents of some of the youngest survivors, are being revictimized again because of MSU.

Let me be clear: None of us victims chose to be sexually assaulted. None of us chose to not place protocols or procedures in a medical office. None of us chose to refuse to enforce guidelines. None of us intimidated little children into silence, ignored or even covered up, direct reports of sexual assault. MSU did. For more than 20 years. And WE paid the horrific price.

President Engler, if you want to cast blame for why we all are in this situation, you could start with everyone at MSU who ignored reports of sexual abuse for DECADES, resulting in hundreds of children and women being abused, myself included. Detroit News helpfully identified at least 14 people you could start with, if you can't be bothered to find out yourself. Or you could educate yourself about who is in a more painful situation - your institution, or the hundreds of children who lost their innocence and live forever with the nightmares and consequences.

MSU, you have chosen for 19 months to deny responsibility, and outright blame, attack and lie about the survivors, and you are doing it again. Your actions are STILL hurting these women and children. Stop it. STOP IT."

To the MSU brass she is public enemy number one.  The MSU PR machine must be going nuts trying to find dirt on her and the other more vocal victims.  I'd be worried if I were her.  From what I can tell there is no limit to how low these people are willing to stoop.  I bet the BOT/President have wet dreams about "putting her in her place."  lol.

After what was eventually revealed from what he said and his lack of action, this is warranted. The medical students (many of whom are UM grads) are sickened and upset by all of this. Can't fathom how Strampel could say that  (especially when it's not just one person so he can't even claim it's a one-off case of a patient lying) while all those victims suffered at the hands of a monster.

Speaking to my Spartan friends about this latest travesty, they are saying "Strampel should be fired and prosecuted just as any pervert at any institution should be fired and prosecuted..."

Basically implying that Strampels, Nassars, and the people that turn a blind eye on them are everywhere.  MSU is just getting picked on because it's "under a microscope."

"The media people are extrapolating the independent actions of two bad apples onto an entire University." Yada, yada, yada.  "This culture of sexual assault is a myth created by ESPN...  Everyone who believes a culture exists is sour regarding MSU's recent success in athletics."

I was told that the president sends the alumni groups weekly emails with the latest spin.  I'm not sure if that is where this narrative is coming from, but it seems to be the new narrative.  It's all horrifyingly predictable at this point.  Feed the lemmings bullshit until they get bored.

Strampel gave a speech at an information session I attended regarding the armed services program for medical students.  He was the keynote speaker.  He was a bombastic asshole, constantly extoling the virtues of MSU COM (great program) and going so far as to brag about how he has monthly meetings with the deans of the other three medical schools in the state of Michigan and how he has served in his position longer than any of them (he then tolds us to "connect the dots").  Tonight he's in jail.  Dots are connected, William.

It's my understanding from MGoCOMmers that he's a sketchy chauvinist.  The stories I have heard are creepy, and I think it's well known that he ran that medical school with an iron fist.  It will be interesting to see if COM cleans house with other bad actor Strampel cronies, and now under current scruitny, how many of these stories from the past turn out to be true.

Burn. It. Down.  From the beginning, nothing of the current administration nor their replacements should have anything to do with this university.  "But they won't know how we do things in EL, the Spartan way!" GOOD.  Bring in people who will actually protect the students and not bloviate.
