Why no front page Muppets?
I haz sad.
Football team wins and wins big on the road. Denard does his Denardy thing and runs for hundredry jilliion zillion yards, Gibbons puts it through the uprights (even when he misses), D is dominant, gets a pick 6 and wins the turnover battle for a change this season.
Yet no glorious front page muppets. No "you can't have one without the other" glorious, wonderful, lovely, Muppets.
Does anyone know why?
Edit: And now I know - it's Purdue (not a Muppet-worthy win)

Obviously.

It was Purdue.

Because we did what we were supposed to do. IMO, muppets should only come out against rivals like OSU and MSU and big-name opponents.

Are we being muppet rationed? We were a mere 3 point favorite and every talking head (save Desmond) on ESPN picked Purdue, every analyst on the B1G network picked Purdue, and we not only won we throttled them on the road.
Not muppet worthy?

Ourss are not so much. Beating a crummy B1G team like we know we can isn't muppet worthy

This is Michigan, fergodsake!

(The Hootie and the Blowfish guy) he said and I quote "one thing you can count on when Michigan plays an average team is for Denard to do great--Michigan wins big." He was dead on--and that's also why muppets are inappropriate.

As part of the guidelines for in-season posts, there was this bullet:
"Muppets are for BIG THINGS only. Beating Alabama is a muppets thing. Beating UMass is not."
I don't think Purdue fits the criteria.

Way to go Bry Mac. Way to go.

We beat Purdue. We get muppets when we beat MSU, OSU, ND, or the bowl game... and even then it is not guaranteed.

I am more worried about Nebraska than Sparty this year (though Burkhead is looking more and more quetsionable).
OTOH lets face it, the B1G may suck so bad that maybe Ohio, the B1G Championship and the Rose Bowl are only muppet worthy.
Then again, a for serious beat down of Sparty might make me feel like we should bring out some muppetry.

We've come a long way. This isn't 2010, where the muppets use reached an all time low with the unleashing after beating UConn

We had muppets last year after we beat Illinois.

True. Just wanted to give a little support to the OP to let him know he wasn't totally off.

Ok....I understand now. But in two weeks, after we put an end to that wretched losing streak to MSU we get muppets.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:40 AM ^
we'll get muppets when Brian says we get muppets.
October 7th, 2012 at 9:58 AM ^
and you will be happy about it.
(I do so like Beaker though)

FWIW it's not like we've been this dominant road team against anybody lately (see all games 2008-2010, Iowa & MSU 2011 and this year's Kick-off Classic) so I was kinda hoping for this game to get acknowledged - more so in the complete ass-kickingness of it.
But I understand why it wasn't.

is this a trick question?

Not true. I usually start threads to show off pictures of the coaching staff wandering by our tailgate trying to go home after games.

It's like beating Western Michigan - it's a nice win but you shouldn't throw a parade for it.

I can't wait for someone else to post the same thing after next week....

Here are items that would be Muppet worthy.
- Wins against Ohio, MSU (this year,) ND next year.
- Win the Big10 Championship.
- Wins against a BCS opponent in a BCS Bowl.
So, for the balance of the year, I would expect Muppets on the following occasions:
- Beating MSU
- Beating Ohio
- Beating Wisconsin (in Big10 Championship Game)
- Beating opponent in Rose Bowl.
In basketball, the following might qualify:
- Winning NIT pre-season Tournament;
- clinching the Big10 Title
- winning the Big 10 Tourney
- Making it to the Final Four.
- Winning the Final Four?
In Hockey, winning the championship, and winning the NCAA.

beating MSU / OSU would also qualify for muppets. Also if we beat a quality team like Duke.

Even if it's not muppet worthy, how about something about the game on the front page?? I've found myself starting to ogle other blogs... and I feel dirty.
