Where would a win this week rank among the biggest victories in Michigan history?
I was the same way.
...confidence is the stain they can't wipe off...
Top 100, top 50 if Iowa pulls off a miracle. Bigger wins in the last 10 years: last year's OSU game, Sugar Bowl, '06 ND, '03 OSU.
BEAT OHIO, that is all.

BEAT OHIO, that is all.
edit: double post... at least this point cannot be understated

In terms of Michigan history not really high at all unfortunately. While anytime we can beat OSU it's a wonderful thing the facts are by Saturday this game may be utterly meaningless in terms of the B1G conference standing for both teams. Ohio cant go anywhere and if Nebraska wins on Friday then neither can we.
Sorry but I can think of about 15 - 20 games in my lifetime (I'm 53) that had more riding on them than the clash of a probation bound Buckeye team and our own 20th ranked, three loss Wolverines.
Even though it would be a noteworthy upset in my view, there's still not enough riding on it. Iowa ain't beating Nebraska.
Now if we were beating them late in the game, and Kenny Demens intercepts a pass along the OSU sidelines to seal the victory, and Urban then slugs him in full view of the entire world, and then gets fired, then we're talking something special.
If the Rose Bowl is not on the line then it doesn't mean much in comparison to those matchups of yore.

32nd. I'd write out the whole list of the games ranked above it but I don't want to take up all the space.

This week it would rank #1...but since the OP didn't misplace the OP's modifier, I'd put it between 29 and 50 unless Iowa does us a solid. Then it becomes a ticket to Pasadena and probably makes the top 15.
5 4 3 2 1 Touchdown!
Touchdown Billy Taylor!
Touchdown Billy Taylor!
But we are in a lose/lose situation unless Iowa pulls a shocker. We beat Ohio, "They had nothing to play for." Ohio wins? Ugh, I don't want to go there.
I live in the epicenter of hatred here in Ohio and they are so overconfident. For my own satisfaction I would love to keep talking shit for another year after they think they have hired their savior as the head coach.
Damn, I'm getting fired up just writing about it. Lets kick their ass. Go Blue! Beat Ohio!
There is no rankings.
Every win over Ohio is the best ever.
Every...I can't...non-win is the worst.
life is like a box of chocolates... and you got the Whizzo Quality Assortment
If Iowa pulls of the big upset on Friday this one goes right up there.
On the road against an undefeated with the chance to go to our first ever B1G championship game... I'd say pretty damn huge.
If you spell Crisler like the car company you should hand in your fan card before the next meeting.... Same goes for Ferry Field
Let's not hatch chicken before we count them... Something like that.
Secret tort baby? Secret tort baby!
GO BLUE, BEAT OHIO!

In all honesty, I don't care about polls, reputation, bowl games, BEAT Ohio soundly is really all I care about right now. That my friends will cure all of our ills; as well as prove a point philosophically and metaphysically.

If there is one thing I learned under Hoke, it's that the next game is the important game of your career, regardless of implications and streaks and records and titles. You never know when the next game will be your last chance to play.
Coach Hoke once told me that a moral victory is still a (expletive deleted) loss.
Honestly even though they are unbeaten I don't think they're that good. I mean sure they're 11-0 and the talk of the college football world every day but honestly they have gotten very lucky and I'm very confident in coach Hoke. Fuck the buckeyes. And fuck urban Meyer.
There is god, there is family, and then there is MICHIGAN FOOTBALL
We've been saying the same thing about Notre Dame and they're ranked first in the country. This is a weird season. Still OSU does have the appearance of a paper tiger, they keep scrapping by teams and you wonder when they're going to have that one game where nothing goes right for them. I think it's going to be close on Saturday and it would be great to see Hoke and his crew go into Columbus and out-coach the "great" Urban Meyer, that would blow the mind of Buckeye Nation.
"...what do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?"
"Fix the cigarette lighter."
In terms to dealing a blow to the collective psyche of the Buckeye fanbase, it's huge. Right now they are just dismissing last years win as a one-time fluke. To march into Columbus and win on Saturday would blow their whole expectation of an Urban Meyer-lead Ohio picking up where Tressel left off right out of the water; and that would be pretty fun to see.
In terms of our post season aspirations though, I don't see this game making that much of a difference unless Iowa can somehow shake the crappy off their team and beat Nebraska on Friday.

"I can't think of a bigger win in the last 10 years..."
Are you kidding me? Have you forgotten we could have won in 2006 in the 1 vs 2 matchup? It's always a big game and this year is no different. The stakes will be ramped up all the more if Iowa manages the improbable upset on Friday. The fact that OSU is going in undefeated means little to me. Their season was ruined the moment it became clear Tressel had been cheating for over a decade. That being said this game means the world to me in part because it will be the last time we see Denard on the field for a regular season game. And what better way to go out than with a win against our dreaded archrival who happens to be undefeated...
This is a chance for Michigan to prove that it can stop a team with elite personnel that uses the spread. They have been woefully deficient in that department so far.
Since those who make the decisions at Michigan have decided that the spread "doesn't work in the Big Ten," they are going get a chance to prove it every year. As long as Urban Meyer is in Columbus, every year is now a referendum: pro set vs spread.
One of these coaches could end up looking a lot like John Cooper in this rivalry. I hope it's Meyer who ends up with that "distinction." Having an undefeated season derailed by a three-loss Michigan team would be a great start for Meyer in being "John Cooper v2."
around 37th for me.

When I started watching M football back in the late 80's and up through the late 90's it was always a big win, but in the back of my mind it was an expected win. Thats what it needs to get back to. I dont want to get crazy fired up anymore like I did last year, I want to get back to celebrating the win and knowing that we're superior. I miss my arrogance.
