What happened to Formerly Anonymous

Submitted by NYC Fan on

Given that it is a slow Sunday night, I thought I would inquire on the status of Formerly Anonymous.  Does anyone know if he parted ways with Brian or is just at a different stage of his life now?

I think that those who work for Brian tend to offer a better user experience than Brian himself.  The TomVH, Tim, Misopogon, etc are very useful in responding to questions in threads as was Formerly.

Anyhow, where has he been?

Adding on I was wondering where the Other Brian is. He brought great commentary to various topics.

I just caught the stuff about his awesome timeline. The funny thing is, if it's the post I remembered that he's being called out for in that thread, it just seemed that there was nothing wrong with it...just pointing out what a lot had been saying. I'm guessing people who had a problem with it probably don't mind Brian playing devil's advocate. And the last 3 years have been depressing, but nothing compared to real mental health issues. I hope he hangs in there.

Now that we solved that ordeal, I was wondering if anyone else is as blown away as me, with recruiting this year. When Hoke was hired I figured recruiting would take a hit because he wasn't a big name hire. I couldn't have been more wrong. In my wildest dreams I would have never imagined a .500 coach from San Diego St. could create so much buzz around the program.

As far as FA goes, maybe he thinks the new moderate button is as lame as I do? That could be why he doesn't post as often.

I think we are only now just starting to see some benefits from the OSU debacle. Strobel is the first recruit that wouldn't have been had it not been for the impending NCAA sanctions on OSU. The rest of our recruits would have been Blue regardless. Now if Dunn, Kalis, Washigton, and Stanford are in this class, then without a doubt  the staff will have reaped the benefits from the situation.

Not that I got too much into his business, but in summary - he's ok, he was already really busy with school and work, this long last season kinda burned him out, so he's pulled back some, and not really modding. My thought is the losses, the Cc, and the hostility over it all is tough on any mod, and for a time there it seemed like it was FA and no one else (luckily we have Misopogon and ZL now). He still pops in, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's around more come football season, time permitting. I miss his obscure sport open threads and input, as well as amazing work as a mod.

Losses had zero to do with it. Coaching change wasn't a big thing either. If I was going to quit, it was during the first coaching change.

I got to working 2 jobs while finishing up school (still in progress). Modding took way too much of my time for about 3 years. I made it through the season last year and forced myself to step away. I routinely committed around 30-40 hours of moderation time to the site per week. That couldn't last for the compensation. You people are all idiots, except you who aren't idiots. You know who you are!

As far as life, it's still busy. Still working 2 jobs (resident assistant and now promoted to a supervisor for the Houston Texans gameday staff).  Replaced the long distance girlfriend (Texas to Massachusetts) to a local one who has no idea of my dark, internet past. Having the significant other closer to home means visiting the board is once every few weeks at most.

I appreciate all of your concerns. Death to Purdue.

It was a tough series against the Tigers. My time at UM made the Tigers my adopted AL team... at least until the Astros move over in November. Rangers never have been my team, but with finishing school in Rangers country, they are my other adopted team. I made it to a ALCS game last season, it was awesome.

The ALCS this year was tough. It was both my side teams facing off, but I think the more complete team won. Looks like Texas may finish it off tonight, yet again as the more complete team. It's been exciting at least.

His take the on the Dante's Inferno last summer was awesome.  It had me checking this blog like twice a day for updates.  I know I bugged him once about finishing it and he said he was busy with school and GF.
