no Brian Griese this week? I thought he did quite well in his opener on Cincy @ Rutgers last week.

I can't believe that the BTN has apparently hired Sarah Spain as a sideline reporter. A person who became internet famous for the "generous" offer of letting someone pay to take her to the Super Bowl, but that person also had to give her a ticket. Wow.

How is Millen as a commentator? I'm guessing he is the commentator and McDonough does the PBP? I've seen Millen offer football analysis and it wasn't as bad as I imagined.

He was quite good back in the day. His credibility takes a giant hit from running the Lions into the ground though.

before he left the booth for the Lion's job.

"Millan was my favorite NFL announcer
before he left the booth for the Lion's job."
Yes, Millen was pretty good, I'd even say he had sort of a John Madden-esque feel about him. Unfortunately now I despise the man (for destroying the Lions) and it pains me that he is associated in any way with UM football, even if it's just announcing one game.
And I'm sure I'm not alone. I half expect the stadium to erupt in a "fire Millen" chant during the game.

No Pam Ward again this week puts a smile on my face. Looking through U M's schedule, it looks like we may only have to listen to her for three possible games; IU, Purdue, or Wisconsin. I figure one of these games will be on BTN, and the other two will probably be nooners, and possibly be on ESPN2.

What do you have against Pam Ward? I thought she was pretty decent with Chris Spielman (yeah, I know that goes back a couple years).

There's a reason Awful Announcing calls them the Pammies. Her gaffs are ridiculous and often. More importantly, I like avoiding her games as they are the noon games no one cares about.

So one day I go into Upstream Brewery in Omaha and after my usual [number not important] beers I head into the Men's room (not yet drunk enough to "accidentally" stumble into the other bathroom) and there are a couple guys in there talking basketball. One is a short guy at one of the urinals with a deep voice and they are discussing Syracuse. I jump into the conversation and one of the dudes says, "Hey! Do you know who you're talking to?" I look over, and sure enough, it's Sean Fucking McDonough. Yeah, I'm talking Roosevelt Bouie and Louis Orr with SeanFucking McDonough while he's holding his dick.
What a small world (no pun intended, I did NOT sneak a peek).

Upstream, just went there a couple weeks ago, haven't been in ages. Good food, good local beer, but badly overpriced.
September 9th, 2009 at 9:42 PM ^
are you in Omaha, or just passing through the beautiful heartland?
I ask because I am in Omaha, not because I am odd.
September 10th, 2009 at 12:24 AM ^
Yes. It's true. I live in Omaha. It's no secret that I OWN Omaha, either. Fuckin' A.
September 9th, 2009 at 5:56 PM ^
When will we get Erin Andrews? The Iowa game?
September 9th, 2009 at 5:59 PM ^
She probably only works games with the Great Ones like Mark Dantonio.

That redhead is feisty. I like her. A lot.

They usually have a lot of spunk.

The gingers are growing in strength and numbers. We must keep them from gathering, else we have a South Park-like tragedy.
