This week's bracketology U-M a 7-seed
This week, ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi has Michigan earning a No. 7 seed and facing off against No. 10 California. Meanwhile, the No.2 seed and likely second-round opponent would be Wichita State. That would be a fun draw, remember what we did against Mid-Major darling VCU last year?
Anyway, I know there is a lot of time and a lot of games between now and March Madness but it is fun to look and see what could happen - especially if JB keeps getting improvement out of this young squad.

I actually think a seven seed is too low for this team right now. A 5 is probably more appropriate.

If they can go 6-4 in their next 10 games, I think they've got a chance at a Big Ten regular season championship and will be a 6-seed or better.

I see where you're going, but if we actually won the Big Ten regular season, we will be much better than a 6-seed. Likely a 2-seed.

If we got that draw I'd be thrilled. Cal doesn't impress me and Wichita State is overrated. We'd waltz into the Sweet Sixteen.

we'd waltz into the elite eight with that draw; we match up well with okla st. but yeah, don't expect that draw.

I don't disagree with the draw being good, but there's no such thing as waltzing to any level of the NCAA hoops tournament. Having those expectations is guaranteeing disappointment eventually.
Survive and advance and enjoy the ride.

Maybe in the Round of 64 you can get by on talent alone. Maybe. But after that, it's all a crap shoot. Otherwise the likes of Duke, Kentucky and Kansas would win the tournament every single year.

Under the Affordable Hoops Care Act, visits to a Bracketologist are now fully covered. Even though you might not be due for a visit until late February or early March, here's a link that will give you some information about Bracketologists other than "Dr. Joe Lunardi" and their latest projections. http://www.bracketmatrix.com/
Keep in mind that, despite his reputation, "Dr. Joe Lunardi" was rated as only the 35th best Bracketologist in the country last year. http://www.bracketmatrix.com/rankings.html

Rock on +10.1 points above average - small sample size caveats apply, but I'm going to bust through to the veterans side this year!

I think after these next 3 games we'll have a better idea of what kind of seed Michigan could be looking at.

How is Michigan a 7 seed and OSU a 3 seed? I get that this doesn't matter at this time of the year, but I would still like to know the reasoning behind this.

They lost three in row.

After we win the B1G and the B1G tourney we'll be a solid 2 seed.

If this was the bracket, I would be pretty excited. The only negative here is that we would be a seven seed, however I feel if we could get pretty far based on the other seeds on our sides. We could probably beat WIchita State then beat Oklahoma State as well which would put us right back into the elite eight. We will see this weekend how we handle Wisconsin but there is a high possibility that we make the Final Four if this was our destiny.

Things that people read, pay attention to, talk about and are always, always, ALWAYS wrong:
1. The weather forecast
2. Mock NFL drafts
3. Bracketology
January 17th, 2014 at 12:10 PM ^
Are they called MOCK Drafts because they're often too easy to MOCK (especially when they're posted several months before the draft)?

I don't do bracketology because it's an accurate predictor of outcomes. I do it because it's fun.
Also I find that in years Michigan is a bubble team, it fits my compulsive personality better to have a complete understanding of all the teams near the cutting point.
There's no margin for error for this Wolverine squad but without the gutty wins against FSU, Stanford, and Minnesota there'd be no hope.

You heard it here first.

This ridiculously early bracketology is about as pointless as the countless NFL mock drafts.

If you think this is early there was one released right after our game in the Championship last year. It feels good to say that.
