We’re Going To Win It All

A lot of hand-wringing about FSU not getting into the CFP right now. Obviously, would have much rather had to play them with a backup QB, and I think the committee got it wrong leaving out an undefeated conference champion, but in the end I don’t think it matters. Florida State was not going to win the title. Neither is Alabama. Washington, Texas, they won’t win it all. That’s because our #1 Michigan Wolverines are going to be National Champions this year.

It’s The Team speech. They can throw out all those great backs and quarterbacks. But do you really believe that anyone else in the country has a better team than us? You think it matters who is on the opposite sideline when our sideline has Blake, JJ, Mike, Graham, Kris, Kenneth, Roman, and MFJH?

This season the mantra has been Michigan vs. Everybody. At the end of the season, it’s going to change to Michigan Beats Everybody. Including Alabama. Including either Washington or Texas. This team doesn’t care who they play, they care for each other. They stayed, and they will be Champions.

Let’s fucking Go Blue.

Genuine question, where did this "it's about picking the four best teams" line come from?

I can't find that in the CFP's criteria or mission statement. What it does say: "The College Football Playoff (CFP) is a postseason event to determine college football’s national champion on the field, while emphasizing the significance of college football’s unique regular season where every game counts."

Yes, their job is to pick the four teams who are most deserving and who have actually proven on the field to be the four best, within reason.

Alabama hasn't proven that on the field this year.  The committee selected them based on one single game and their history and recruiting rankings.  The committee fucked FSU.  On the other hand, it should work out well for us, because the fact that this Bama is not 2011-2021 Bama will be made clear on Jan 1, as it has been made clear many times already this season.  In a game of 2023 Minter vs. 2023 Milroe, I'll take Minter all day long.

Because they won their conference championship game 59-0…..

They obliterated Wisconsin, and literally dared the committee to leave them out.

The people who have been arguing that there’s a precedent for this in favor of FSU’s chances, that’s fine, but those people need to understand that this was the bar OSU set that year. FSU came nowhere close to hitting that bar last night.

I’m bummed. Ngl. I’ll just say the first thing you’ll immediately notice when Michigan takes the field v Bama is how small our players look. This was worst case scenario.

I believe in this team but damn damn damn

This take might have made sense in, like, 2007 when Mark May was saying "SEC Speed" every 45 seconds on ESPN. In 2023, Michigan has perhaps the best S+C program in the country, some of the best player development, and may get more guys drafted than any program this year. Not every SEC power is the 2021 Georgia defense, which was generational. Bama has good players, but let's not embrace bizarre and outdated narratives

I think this is just another bullet this team eats.  You give us the #1 seed and then put Bama against us?  Okay, fine.  Bet.

I have no doubt that they learn from the offensive game planning mistakes they made against TCU last year and have something ready for Bama from the start.  Milroe may be pretty good, but he's still a first year starter.  Michigan will not back down, they'll look Alabama straight in the eye and play harder.

The team groaned when they saw it was Alabama.  Good.  They know they're facing a good team.  I get the impression they thought much less (rightfully so) of FSU and might have taken them lightly.  This should motivate them to work even harder to kick some 'Bama ass.

The front 7 must play well for us to stifle the offense. I think that our secondary has already demonstrated how effective they can be against the most talented receiving corps in the country. Furthermore, Tommy Rees ain't shit as an OC. Offensively, we'll need to empty the book and get it done. Get everyone healthy, scheme it up and go do the damn thing. The setting has been laid and it's a storybook narrative, Michigan needs to fulfill their part and win.
