Seth says not Muppet worthy...
Congrats!!! That was a gutty check down the stretch against Baylor. In the tourney last year, Baylor knew they were going to win. Yesterday they thought they were going to. This time, though, Michigan was the team that knew.
December 20th, 2021 at 3:41 PM ^
Apparently not even article worthy. Meanwhile MBB gets an article for every upcoming game and game results. The ladies deserve at least a little attention thrown their way at least sometime before the tournament.
December 20th, 2021 at 4:01 PM ^
Ya especially since they haven't been doing things like losing at home to Minnesota.
December 21st, 2021 at 12:19 AM ^
This win deserves muppets and a game summary. Jfc
December 20th, 2021 at 1:35 PM ^
LGB! The offensive execution at the end of the game was really something to see
December 20th, 2021 at 1:38 PM ^
Excellent work, ladies!
December 20th, 2021 at 1:38 PM ^
Hot damn!
Well done ladies!!
December 20th, 2021 at 1:47 PM ^
This is an amazing and crazy accomplishment. Congratulations to the Ladies. After what they did last year, they continue build towards great heights and impress. Go Blue!!!
December 20th, 2021 at 1:49 PM ^
A great accomplishment that's long overdue, well-deserved, and much welcomed! The men are going to have to pick up the slack to keep up with the ladies.
December 20th, 2021 at 1:50 PM ^
and yet no goddamn muppets.
come on.
December 20th, 2021 at 1:58 PM ^
The team seems to only be at 80% strength.
December 20th, 2021 at 2:03 PM ^
Great showing and let's keep the momentum going.
December 20th, 2021 at 2:07 PM ^
So Dilk is on her way back? She was in uniform yesterday for the first time in forever iinm.
December 20th, 2021 at 2:20 PM ^
A serious conversation needs to be had with the site owners about what transpired this weekend. If the men had defeated a top 5 team, the front page would have been filled with celebratory items.
I get it; women's sports are not as popular, don't generate the money, and has no historical significance. Unfortunately, that will always be the case as long as those who cover sports refuse to help create and promote those things.
Great job ladies and keep up the great work!
December 20th, 2021 at 2:28 PM ^
I agree with this 110%
December 20th, 2021 at 2:31 PM ^
This site is giving our Mighty Women of Michigan no respect. Why is there no write up of the game? Why is it up to us to do their job? This smacks of misogyny.
December 20th, 2021 at 2:40 PM ^
I can understand the no-writeup part - after all, it costs money to assign someone to cover the game. Alex or Seth (or whoever) would have to be paid for game coverage, story development, etc... And women's sports don't drive this site - football and MBB drive it. Hockey gets an honorable mention because the site owner adores hockey.
What I don't get is the lack of Muppets for such a win - the first time in HISTORY that it happened. And it doesn't appear like a one-off, the team has shown steady improvement for several years and has legitimately earned that win and its top 10 ranking. Ace (STFU) started 'repping the women's team a couple of years ago and started ramping up this sites user base to the program. That head start has been flushed down the toilet.
I mean, maybe pay the Daily to reprint their writeup? In any case, WBB deserves better from the schools most popular sports site...
December 20th, 2021 at 3:17 PM ^
Misogyny? Come on. The blog primarily covers the two most popular M sports and gives some solid coverage of hockey as well. Pretty much nothing else (men's or women's) gets any coverage. It's not misogyny
December 20th, 2021 at 6:13 PM ^
This is Mgoblog. If you don't like Michigan women's athletics it's because you're a MISOGYNIST!!!
December 20th, 2021 at 2:33 PM ^
It appears that the hurdle rate for a women's-oriented Mainpage is a national title.

I get it; women's sports are not as popular, don't generate the money, and has no historical significance. Unfortunately, that will always be the case as long as those who cover sports refuse to help create and promote those things.
This feels almost Orwellian. The idea that sports media has some moral obligation to create market and demand for less popular sports (be they women's sports or just niche sports) seems bizarre. You spell out exactly why there is less coverage -- less people care. MGoBlog cannot cover every single sporting event on Earth and may not have had anyone even watch the game to give a write up about it. If there's some clamor for more women's basketball coverage, it would seem to me that market inequality would self-correct, but the idea that its specifically (or in part) MGoBlog's responsibility to CREATE interest in women's basketball or men's fencing, is just backwards.
December 20th, 2021 at 3:10 PM ^
Big meh. Coverage is proportional to popularity. I'm happy for the ladies but this is no more odd than the lack of front page coverage for men's soccer or men's lacrosse.
December 20th, 2021 at 3:41 PM ^
The owner/writers of this site cover the sports they're passionate and deeply knowledeable about. To ask them to exercise that level of passion because you want them to is a bit much ... What has happened is that a User has written a great Diary about some Michigan's team story or accomplishments and the site has Frontpaged it. So I would say, if you want great content about a very deserving women's team, then create it.
December 20th, 2021 at 4:53 PM ^
Muppets cost nothing and acknowledge accomplishments without hardly any effort.
December 20th, 2021 at 2:33 PM ^
This wasnt Muppet worthy???? I disagree.... for this program??? it Definitely deserved Muppets
December 20th, 2021 at 3:00 PM ^
Well done UMWBB. Go Blue!!!
December 20th, 2021 at 3:03 PM ^
That's awesome. I really didn't think they could beat Baylor, but they did it! We're a women's sports school now!
In other WBB top 10 news, UConn is out of the top 10 for the first time in 16 years! That's an insane run.
December 20th, 2021 at 3:08 PM ^
Congrats to the ladies. I don't follow the team but I know historically they've been one of the few teams we always struggled to be top 10ish in - IIRC when I was in school they were pretty bad. Really really good job by KBA
December 20th, 2021 at 3:19 PM ^
Well done, ladies! The best is yet to come.
December 20th, 2021 at 3:25 PM ^
Nice
good for them.
December 20th, 2021 at 3:33 PM ^
Let's Go BLUE!!!!
December 20th, 2021 at 3:34 PM ^
I don't generally follow women's sports... but the victory and the new ranking inside the top ten is Muppet worthy.
December 20th, 2021 at 3:35 PM ^
Awesome work by the entire team - coaches, players, trainers, etc. Team work makes the dream work!
December 20th, 2021 at 4:31 PM ^
Great win. And they had to beat the #5 team and the refs.
‘Well deserved rating. Keep it going.
December 20th, 2021 at 4:35 PM ^
Winning cures everything. Right now people are dismissing us because of a bad game @Louisville. If WBB stays undefeated in the B1G by winning the next 5 games (including 16 Jan @Maryland), that will get peoples' attention. Hope Dilk returns soon and Varejao continues to improve and earn her minutes.
December 20th, 2021 at 4:38 PM ^
Great work ladies, keep it up!
Go Blue!

December 20th, 2021 at 7:01 PM ^
Congrats, and great work ladies! KBA has developed quite a tough and relentless team.
