Waaay Too Early '15-'16 Depth Chart

Submitted by Mr. Yost on

Obviously too early for multiple reasons...

  1. It's November 29th, 2014
  2. We don't know who our coach will be next season
  3. We haven't been through winter conditioning or spring ball too get an idea of who is playing where...
  4. We have no idea what the system will be and where the personnel will best fit

This is largely based on natural progression and hope. Also, is Peppers going to be a RS Freshman or Sophomore?

Note: I kept 5th year seniors even though a new coach may not renew scholarships if he can get more of "his" recruits in this class. People is get upset when you remove the 5th year guys.

But you can be a sarastic asshole, no one forced you to read or post. So you're the idiot that is wasting his time. I enjoyed looking ahead and taking the time to update that while watching Auburn/Alabama.

If it bothers you so much, maybe you should watch porn or get of MGoBlog.

Or keep trolling if that's what you enjoy to do.

really... well its people who make a stupid depth chart giving preference to the "five stars" like pipkins or morris... neither of them have merited anything...

people who piss ME off are the ones who give guys like "Sugar Shane" all the notoriety and props in the world, without ever first doing ANYTHING.....  think about all the fanfare Morris gets... all the twitter followers and bs, just because hes a michigan recruit... the status people like u give them, makes me sick... its a big reason why the program is where it is.....

if the OP wants to make a REAL projected depth chart, then it needs to be based on merit and rationale, not 'stars'.....  how does he figure that guys like pipkins start?     and cole... cole is a G.. .and the new coach knows this.  its MY opinion, but it is not based in the same fluff that calls a recruit "Sugar Shane" or "Shane"......

All I did was update this from a post I did BEFORE this season.

It's funny, because all of the comments are so positive. They're so "HOLY SHIT! We're LOADING NEXT YEAR!!"

Now after the year, it's just hope that there is some kind of development.

But I said before this year, the expectation for me this year was to get better every week and I thought we'd be 9-3, but beat OSU and win our bowl game.

I said next year my expectation with this roster was to be in the college football playoff.

Now, not so much...

If we can get above average QB play and cut out the turnovers we will compete for B1G East division title. It is possible with the talent we have on the roster. More than anything we need a new coaching staff with good strategies and ability to sufficiently motivate the team.

Again, I thought this was going to be enough to get us into the PLAYOFF picture next year. So on paper, yes, it looked awesome. Get Morris some experience this year and roll teams next year.

However, that's on paper. I don't have nearly as much confidence. This is a 100% "wait and see" approach for me.

But if you look at recruiting rankings, experience, and what should be natural player development...heck yea, we should be a very solid team next year.

Also shows you how inexperienced we were this year since everyone is returning.

Will be interesting though to come back to this thread the week of the Utah game, to see how a new coaching staff and different sets of eyes evaluate and rank these players.

Gedeon vs. Morgan.  McCray or Jenkins-Stone moving inside?  Where Peppers plays?  Lots of questions.

Very rough non-conf. Thursday night at Utah to open the season with a brand new QB, Oregon State and BYU who has Taysom Hill coming off of the injury.

BYU in game 4 at home next year is going to be like Utah this year - a game most casual fans will write in as a win but guys who watch college football every weekend around the country see as all sorts of trouble.  That is a darkhorse Heisman candidate dual threat QB walking in here and they wont be scared of the Big House (not that anyone should be nowadays).  They play Nebraska UCLA and Boise State before coming here so they will be battle tested.

Unless Speight (or Morris) comes out of the box a very polished product unfortunately this has the makings of a 2-2 start.  Unless we are Auburn at running the ball in the first month of 2015... And not because we are necessarily bad - we will need to score often to compete with those 2 teams.  Even Oregon State - while not a good product right now - is enough to give this vintage of UM trouble.

I don't predict players leaving (unless it's obvious) because it pisses too many people off.

I could easily remove half those 5th year guys who I don't think are coming back too. I mean, I respect the hell of out Russell Bellomy, but what's the point of him returning? If the next coach doesn't use a FB, there's no point in having Kerridge come back.

So I just leave everyone.

He's a 5th year senior who's a former walk-on and sometimes that means "this guy worked and I want to keep him around."

But there's been rumors about him being a little Lewan-esqe...his trouble in the preseason didn't help that.

If he's not a surefire starter, I'm not sure you just don't say "thanks" and use his scholarship on a freshman to bring in "your guy" if you're a new coach.

I think Kerridge is in a similar boat, Bellomy, maybe even Hayes.

This is a very small class. A new coach may not renew any 5th years so he can get some freshman in this class for next season and start to build his program. In a way, you can't blame him.

It's 100% speculation at this point. So I'm definitely not saying this is in stone or you (or anyone else) can't disagree. It's just a matter of preference.

I'm sure if we polled MGoBlog and asked what they'd do as a head coach...half would keep the 5th year guys for experience and an easy transition. The other half would get as many scholarships as they could get to build their program right away.

Because our OL has been so fucking good with him.

Give me a break - you all are acting like if we don't have Graham Glasgow on our OL and we start Magnuson or Kalis in his place we're going to be significantly worse.

He may decide on his own that he doesn't want to play, either way, whether he does or doesn't...it's not going to be THAT much of an impact.

Let's be honest, our OL has been shit with that 2-year starter you're sarcasticly joking about and he hasn't been some world beater standout either. Maybe that just shows how bad we really are/were on the OL.

Until displaced by someone Ryan Glasgow is the starter - Mone passed Pipkins this year - and if a true FR passed you, your chanced of reclaiming your role are low.  Mone will only be better with a year of experience and S&C.   Pipkins is headed for 5 star bust territory unfortunately - he barely played this year and it wasnt due to injury.

I'd have that position group Glasgow/Mone/Pipkins because that is how they are playing this year and for all the criticisms of this staff (all of it earned), they do seem to know how to evalute the DL guys.

You're not the coach...you're speaking very matter of fact.

You were the one slurping Willie Henry in the preseason, I'm shocked that you've reversed course on him.

It's your opinion, just like it's my opinion that he's in a battle with Wormley and Godin to backup Henry.

Yes and I was right on Henry.  He was our best DT.  He is in the other slot from Graham/Mone/Pipkins.  They are mutually exclusive.  Until he hurt his hand he was having a great year.  Henry starting has little to do with the guys in the positon next to him.
