Video Clears Carlos Hyde
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--source--club-video-shows-ohio-state…
Charges are not expected to be filed against Hyde after video from Sugar Bar 2 shows he didn't appear to make contact with an alleged victim who claimed to have been assaulted early Saturday morning, a source who spoke to Yahoo! Sports on the condition of anonymity said. The source said video shows Hyde speaking in the direction of the alleged victim just prior to her punching him in the head. The video then shows Hyde leaving the area and reaching back in the woman's direction in a non-confrontational manner, the source said. From the video, it doesn't appear Hyde ever made contact with the woman – either before or after she struck him, the source said.
I'm not sure a 240-pound LB deserves praise for not punching a woman in retaliation.
what about a 240 running back? (the position Hyde plays)
What about a 420 lb quarterback?
Jared Lorenzen?
"Somebody talking about me?"
I heard he's worked himself down to a lean 300. Look out world of professional athletics! He's back, baby!
A big QB who really was a "Lean" 300 would be terrifying.
Well at least Tacopants would have some company.
I know he plays RB. It was a mistake.
A mistake? Like wrongfully accusing a college kid of battery just because he is big and plays football? That kind of mistake?
Just busting balls here.
I'm sure you know all about busting balls.
ah yes the old "I know you are but what am I" comeback. A grade school classic. touche my friend, touche. you literally owned me and perhaps maybe even "poned" me.
Pwned*
And while we're at it...Vonn Bell was not arrested either. That report was false. He was cited for an open container...same as a traffic ticket.
Baugh was arrested a week ago for underage consumption. Suspended 1 game.
Gardner (Tim) was arrested for obstruction and kicked off the team.
I do commend Urban for his tough stance on obstruction of justice. People who mislead police don't deserve a second chance!
release the full video? I doubt the police would make this simply go away if he actually did it, but I still remain slightly skeptical without actually seeing the video. Also wondering about no mention of witnesses to confirm Hyde's or the woman's side of things.
If he was in fact the actual victim, the woman involved should be charged with assault.
Many of us assumed we knew everything we needed to yesterday, without having all of the information. We've now found out we were wrong; what makes us think that we have all the information we need now? Does the fact that an article (whose topic was a video that appears to clear Hyde) fail to mention either the absence or presence of witnesses mean there are none? Or could it be that such information simply hasn't been distributed?
If it were, say, Devin Gardner (or, in real terms, Frank Clark or Fitz Touissant) getting cleared of charges, I think you would be a lot less suspicious.
just a skeptical person by nature. I am not just going to take somebody else's word that the video does in fact clear him, without actually seeing the full video myself. Like I said, most likely Hyde was in fact the actual victim, but it's not like charges going away against high profile individuals, espcially in a college football centric area is uncommon across the country.
Well that's probably because Devin Gardner's coach is Brady Hoke, not the guy who led the SEC in arrests while at Florida, has repeatedly lied to recruits, faked an illness, failed to discipline a player for threatening to kill a woman, has a murderer for a former player, and suspended a guy for less than a half for trying to gouge out the eyes of another player. Or it may be because Gardner doesn't attend the school that was recently involved in a major scandal and a near-decade long culture of providing benefits to athletes, culminating in the termination of their head coach for repeatedly covering up multiple NCAA violations and then receiving a full retirment package while getting raised on the shoulders of the players he screwed over the very next year.
is also a crime, one that does not require an assault victim to press charges.
Until we see a video, this just sounds like Ohio State Football being king in Columbus.
Which is plausible, until the part of her agreeing that she punched him in the face. That's kind of where it falls apart. No way she would agree to a story of her punching him in the face when in actuality she was assaulted. Seems she's just a crazy chick.
So is the police work that goes on in Columbus.
Someone comes to police and reports a crime. If there is not immediate evidence (like a dead body or a stolen item recovered with prints), the crime is logged and the suspect named by the claimer, if any, is put on the list of interest/suspects/etc. This tells that person, "You're not arrested, but don't leave town."
Then, the police will begin the investigation to find out what crime, if any, actually took place based on evidence, eye-witenss reports, etc, and at that time can make the decision whether or not to go out and arrest one or more suspects in an attempt to interview them, gain more evidence, hold them to protect others, etc.
Obviously a split personality.
This is great news. Hope it all gets cleared up and he can move on.
Huge influx of OSU fans-- Congrats: your RB didn't punch a woman, and only 4 of your players were cited for breaking the law last week.
Ha is that really the best you have? Scum douchebags? Come on. Give us something we can work with.
We hate Michigan, I get that but this is their site. Think you could show a little respect to the Mgoblue community despite our differences? That's not too much to ask, is it?
You totally got over on us dude. I, for one, feel thoroughly emasculated by your clever, eloquent, and oh-so-original taunt. I think for me, it's the capitalization of the letters "U" and "M" that really ties the whole post together. We don't want that pun to be missed by anyone around here.
Well played, brah.
Oh, the irony...
OSU was going to be just fine with or without Hyde. They probably would have had to take, at least initially, a running back by committee approach, but they have several capable backs there, and with the threat of Miller running as well, they're going to do some damage on the ground.
Now, if they lose Roby for an extended period of time, that could be a different story. He'll probably be back by the start of the conference schedule, if not earlier, but who knows?
it's not to put too much stock in "sources close to the situation." He might well be innocent, and I don't think there is any conspiracy to cover it up, but I'd wait a little longer before I proclaimed him innocent or guilty.
I can only think of that poor guy who was going to play football for USC and, quite literally, had his life ruined by a girl who lied and said she was raped by him. Glad the same thing won't happen to Carlos
Will be curious to see if he can make the Falcons -- would be an amazing feat if he does:

If the video does clear Hyde, I wonder if there will be any legal ramifications for the girl filing a false report?
