Actually I turn the channel whenever I see his ugly face.
September 5th, 2019 at 8:06 PM ^
I actually like his analysis. Never really liked him as a Buckeye but I enjoy his segments on BTN ...
September 5th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
Gerry DiNardo looks like he's listening to Urban explain quantum physics to him. Probably explains the discrepancy in coaching talent between the two
September 5th, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
That’s great I had the same thought. Why does Dinardo look like he’s trying so hard keep up
September 5th, 2019 at 11:10 PM ^
Because he is!

you know how they embrace the whore mongering in Utah....
September 5th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
I couldn’t stand him before he was a Buckeye, I couldn’t stand him when he was a Buckeye, and I can’t stand him after he is a Buckeye.
September 5th, 2019 at 11:04 PM ^
Of course you liked him... They destroyed the buckeyes in the championship game a year before LSU destroyed them in the championship game. We had a fun citrus bowl game against them that went our way. Urbz was harmless to us. Then he rescued Ohio from their nadir before it could get low enough for us to catch up.
Who downvoted this?
September 6th, 2019 at 10:30 AM ^
Yup he came into his own 'a$$holeness' at UF.
September 6th, 2019 at 10:44 AM ^
I liked him too before he was at OSU, only because I casually rooted for UF in the SEC. Knowing what I know now, I don't like him. You really have to go above and beyond to be a good dude for me to like you as an OSU person, and Urban is not that. So, it's easy to hate him now.
September 6th, 2019 at 8:35 AM ^
Yeah that was actually really helpful.
Thanks, Urban?
September 5th, 2019 at 8:05 PM ^
Urban Meyer praising the offense? That's a good thing since A) he's Urban Meyer and B) he shit on MSU during the post-game show against Tulsa
September 5th, 2019 at 8:24 PM ^
I haven't heard other coaches analyze offenses, but he definitely comes off as a genius...no wonder he dominated the Big Ten
September 5th, 2019 at 9:07 PM ^
Kinda funny considering he's the "special teams" coach of every team he leads.
In reality, it's his offense.
September 5th, 2019 at 9:14 PM ^
In fairness, his special teams were incredible.

Wants to be on Harbaugh's staff as offensive analyst.

He would fail the first question of the interview: “Do you have integrity?”

Best comment I've seen in a LONG time!!! Well done, sir!!!

I've never understood how these OSU guys (Tress & Urbz) continue to get positions and praise for how great they are. Hello...they are terrible people. Both resigned in the face of scandals.
September 5th, 2019 at 8:51 PM ^
Well, they are great football minds. Integrity ? That's a whole different subject.
September 5th, 2019 at 9:05 PM ^
Being great at coaching football is a very different thing from being a great person.
September 5th, 2019 at 9:43 PM ^
If I was forced to resign under public scrutiny I'd be hard pressed to land another job in my industry, regardless of how good I was it.
September 5th, 2019 at 11:32 PM ^
You clearly don't understand, he resigned for health reasons, duh!!!
/signed cooler poopers everywhere

If you brought hundreds of millions of dollars to whatever organization you went to you would get a job 100% of the time.

If you brought hundreds of millions of dollars to whatever organization you went to you would get a job 100% of the time.
That logic would make sense if they were the HC at another P5 school somewhere else. However, neither bring hundreds of millions of dollars to their organizations post OSU.
September 5th, 2019 at 9:08 PM ^
Was Tressel's offense really THAT egregious? I don't think he's in the same category as Urban or Dantonio.
September 5th, 2019 at 9:42 PM ^
Depends on how many extra benefits you believe OSU players got beyond tattoos (equipment to sell, autograph sales, free cars, cash, etc.) and how much of it you think Tress knew about it. IMO the egregious part of it is the blatently lied, yet continues to portray himself as a highly moral/ethical guy. He's completely full of shit.
September 5th, 2019 at 10:27 PM ^
That's assuming that giving players cash for their services is unethical, which it isn't.
So, therefore, he's not violating any ethics by lying to a shit establishment known as the NCAA.
Carry on, I say.
September 5th, 2019 at 11:16 PM ^
If it's not unethical to give cash to the players, then why lie about it and cover it up?
September 6th, 2019 at 6:29 AM ^
If it is against the rules it is wrong. Glad you don't work for me.
September 6th, 2019 at 7:28 AM ^
Have fun being a drone your entire life.
I’m sure you were just fine with the “rules” in the 60s. Extreme example but just bc it’s a rule doesn’t make it beyond reproach.
September 6th, 2019 at 7:49 AM ^
It must be nice working in a field where rules and (ethical) accountability are optional.
September 6th, 2019 at 10:33 AM ^
Medicine? Ehhh, a lot of the rules are in place to keep insurance companies profitable so those are the ones we skirt around those 24/7 for the patient's sake.
Everything else is to save your own ass from being sued.
September 6th, 2019 at 9:40 AM ^
That's assuming that giving players cash for their services is unethical, which it isn't.
Whether you believe players should get paid is a different argument. I appreciate there is nuance to ethics. But, agreeing to play by a certain set of rules and then ignoring them is unethical on my book. Particularly when breaking the rules gives you a competitive advantage over other people who are playing by rules.
September 6th, 2019 at 9:56 PM ^
I am not so sure. Cash and cars is pretty common. Tressel said he didn't know about tattoo-gate. The only proof that he did was an email he received in the summer. So yeah, like no one ever forgot about an email before.
September 7th, 2019 at 10:00 AM ^
Cash and cars is pretty common
That's purely speculation unless you care to provide some evidence.
The only proof that he did was an email he received in the summer. So yeah, like no one ever forgot about an email before.
That is not accurate. He never claimed to forget about it. He admitted getting the email and being fully aware. His excuse was he didn't know who to tell. And, he was also fully aware the memorabilia for tattoos went all the way back to this assistant coaching days at OSU as well as his time at YSU. His entire tenure in college is mired in violations. He is and always has been fully aware of them and never did anything about any of them. He is completely full of shit. Go back and refresh your memory if you want a trip down memory lane when Tatgate blew up.

Just a little self righteous? Before Harbaugh the biggest percentage of BIG fans despised the sec and their oversigning and roster management. Clearly Harbaugh is doing what a lot are doing in the BIG now, having that “Talk” with players after spring practice. Now that Harbaugh is doing it as well it’s being accepted as necessary to compete. Once you go against your personal morals, the next time is easier. Meaning, before you know it you are just like everyone else. It’s tough to be different. Gotta be a strong person not to give in to your every whim. As far as athletes getting extra benefits, I have no problem with a booster buying 2 of the players 4 tickets for $2k every home game. I mean just in case you get a medical, you got a chunk of change to start life easier.
September 6th, 2019 at 10:58 AM ^
I get why they're revered in Columbus. I don't get why the national media is giving them a free pass for their transgressions.
September 5th, 2019 at 10:08 PM ^
paying players and cutting corners are systematic, and involve more than just the coach. The AD, admin, boasters, and whatever body is aware and fosters/encourages it. This is not a defense of urban or others, the coach is the front and is paid to take the fall.

Give me a break. Do you still praise Steve Fisher? Because most Michigan basketball fans do.
September 6th, 2019 at 12:23 AM ^
Personally, I was not a big fan of Fisher. Yes, I reveled in the '89 NCAA championship and the Fab Five era, but something always bugged me about him. I felt the team was more the players' personalities and talents than Fisher's leadership. Beilein - exact opposite (for the most part).
September 6th, 2019 at 8:34 AM ^
“Remember how great Steve Fisher was?” Is not something I hear very often from Michigan fans.
September 6th, 2019 at 8:50 AM ^
Fisher was not some bum, though. His in-game coaching was not excellent, he struggled to make strategic adjustments on the fly, and he was never a master of certain specific "sets" designed to get the ball to one specific player in one specific spot.
He was, however, very sound in team preparation. Even the Fab Five teams that seemed really "player dominated" played very disciplined basketball (particularly defensively with the exception of Jalen Rose but that had more to do with Jalen's attention span than anything else). He almost introduced the concept of auto-doubles in the post but he could do so because his teams were almost uniformly great at perimeter defensive rotations. I love watching Michigan v. Kentucky 1993. It is almost a masterpiece from Fisher. Mashburn got his but he had to work like hell to get them over outstretched hands, and Ford could not even see the basket.
Offensively as well, rarely was their a possession that Webber, Howard, Taylor, Traylor did not get an entry pass or two and they were all very patient post players who all improved dramatically in passing out of the post during their time at Michigan.
Every single player who Fisher coached played unselfish basketball too. Even the most prolific scorers he coached were pass first under him, and that is not easy to instill.
