UMGoBlog.com: RichRod Interception v. PSU (1984)
I didn't see this on the board or m.go.licio.us so I thought I'd post it for everyone to enjoy.
From UMGoBlog.com: "Watch Rich Rodriguez Intercept a pass in 1984 when he played for West Virginia against Penn State."

I hope to see a similarly excited RichRod on November 21. Great find.
EDIT: Oh, and of course I'd like to see such excitement this weekend as well.

It seems that RR understands the importance of playing PSU, talk about leading by example.

beautiful

I thought you meant he snake-oiled a Penn State commit.

A shot of the cheerleaders on the sideline - including Rita!!

He should know better than to throw into Coach Rod's direction.

Not much top-end speed. Pad level is iffy. Obviously has the intangibles, though (8.94/10 to quantify).

of recruiting 3-star little guys with the "it" factor: solved.

Maybe Kovacs can grab himself a pick after BG comes around the edge on him this saturday!

for a safety. Then again it was 1984 I suppose.

I've always found it kinda humorous that RichRod, father of the spread 'n' shred, played defense.
October 20th, 2009 at 11:24 AM ^
It means he knew all the defensive weaknesses to exploit

RR knew what gave him the most trouble as a defensive player, and apparently decided to create an offense that would drive him nuts if he had to play against it. It does seem to have worked out pretty well for him.

Has Joe Pa changed any of his schemes in the last 25 years? Haha, Rich Rod has the inside edge with first hand experience.

25 yrs later, RR is coaching UM against psu, surely a dream come true for him. I see good things happening this weekend. I also see them playing this clip during the game while UM beats them.

Not for a walk-on getting a pick in a huge home game.
