UMass Band Director Passes Away

Submitted by Just Maize on
For those of you who don't know, the band director for UMass, George Parks, passed away on the way to Ann Arbor for the game tomorrow. I know Michigan fans are always respectful, but just keep this in mind when their band is on the field and don't boo or anything. Basically just try to be extra respectful and encourage everyone around you to do the same and show our support. George Parks was a very well respected director and will be sorely missed not just by UMass students, but by band members across the country.

Maybe we should do something similar to what Texas did with the University of Wyoming tragedy.  Have a brief moment of silence and really give their band a good round of cheers when they are out there.

On the note of the moment of silence:

In England when dignitaries or other stars pass away, they've stopped doing the moment of silence because rubes have the chance to ruin the moment. Instead, they do a minute's applause.

I wish Michigan Stadium could bring this quite appropriate tribute to America, and honor this fine man in a similar way.
