The Twilight Zone
There is a wonderful Twilight Zone episode called "Elegy" where 3 astronauts come upon a curated collection of items on their attempt to get home. The episode ends with them becoming part of the collection- eternally gazing at their homeward goal- but never to reach it.
This episode came to me after the loss to PSU. Everything is eternally set now under JH. We will always beat the teams we are supposed to beat and lose to the ones we are supposed to lose to- like some time loop that has to repeat each season according to prediction.
Strangely I feel numb- like I can predict the next 5 seasons and all that is left to do is watch it play out. Sports is supposed to be unpredictable- that's what make it fun. UM will will so many games but not more than that. JH will mainly win but never really win big, and never surprise either way.
Its like looking at the same thing forever- like those astronauts.

Or maybe we're just bad at road games

Except we were picked to the final 4. Unfortunately the season is now over in sucka season.

The most optimistic predictors gave us a 25-35% chance to make the playoffs.
The season is not over. The 3 most important games have yet to be played. Win 2 and I’ll be happy. Win 3 and it will Ben Harbuaghs best year yet.

Thanks, now I have that awful 80's Twilight Zone song in my head.

Here you go, sport!

What, this one?

Huh, Michigan choked in two fucking debacle performances versus msu in 2015 and 2017 as big favorites.
Lost as 20+ point favorites against Iowa.
Lost as big favorites against Florida State and South Carolina.

Show me a team that doesn't get upset at least once a year and you will have shown me Clemson. OSU has been "upset" every year since 2012 when they went undefeated
October 20th, 2019 at 3:19 AM ^
And yet they still beat their rival and win conference championships.
Not even remotely the same

Michigan has had problems doing that since 2000.
Why do fans not realize that it is a much deeper seeded problem than just a coach?
October 20th, 2019 at 9:31 AM ^
Who is Clemson’s rival?
October 20th, 2019 at 8:14 AM ^
MSU was the higher ranked team in ‘15. They won because the punter panicked.
Iowa crushed OSU two years later at Kinnick.

Need to somehow be good in the odd years when the tough games are at home vs the even years.

Michigan football has become boring to watch. Beat up on shitty teams and lose the big games. It’s no longer fun to watch ?
October 20th, 2019 at 5:43 AM ^
You thought the game last night was boring?
October 20th, 2019 at 11:58 AM ^
No one said it was boring but when you lose all the big games the season as a whole has become boring yes
October 20th, 2019 at 8:12 AM ^
Then don’t. No one is forcing you to watch.
October 20th, 2019 at 11:58 AM ^
Why can’t I express my opinion on a blog where I have the right to express my opinion without morons like you replying. You think I’m happy saying this
October 20th, 2019 at 3:08 AM ^
Well, tomorrow we will be ranked near or below Appalachian State, if that helps.
October 20th, 2019 at 6:37 AM ^
Whatever. I was actually impressed with the offense last night. There is life and vitality in that offense. It has been a slow cooker to awaken, but it’s beginning to arrive. This season is probably lost for a big ten title, but I’m seeing a bright future ahead.

Bright future ahead with all the good WRs gone the trash QB leaving finally is the only bright spot
October 20th, 2019 at 7:38 AM ^
Well bell is back plus the young slots. And I think we get at least 1 of the juniors back. But all 3 will have reason to consider coming back. Plus the young outside receivers have potential. I wouldn’t worry about WR.
its really just OL. Hopefully Ruiz come soon back.

Mayfield looks good. Hayes and Steuber show promise. Guards are biggest concern.
October 20th, 2019 at 7:22 AM ^
Dumb.
Then don’t watch.

This sums up the Michigan football season for me.
Dig deep, finish with a bowl game. GO BLUE!

As much as we were hyped in the preseason, I find myself hearing that last exchange in "A Nice Place To Visit":
"Whatever gave you the idea you were in Heaven, Mr. Valentine? This is the other place!"

Perfectly crafted for this thread.
October 20th, 2019 at 8:07 AM ^
Don Brown is killing this team.
October 20th, 2019 at 8:10 AM ^
Michigan has won “big” exactly once in 70 years.
This is Michigan football.
October 20th, 2019 at 1:50 PM ^
Winning big is not exclusively winning a national championship, and nobody is acting like it is.
Reasonable people can agree or disagree about Harbaugh's tenure and his future here, but don't drag down the entire program in the purpose of protecting your guy. No man is bigger than the program. Go Blue.

Want to see something REALLY scary?
October 20th, 2019 at 8:47 AM ^
Wholeheartedly agree with the premise of this post. It’s the predictability that’s wearing on me. Win a game you’re not supposed to win. For once. For the love of God.

I like the one with the thing on the plane
