TruTV no longer part of Comcast basic
**There was a post regarding this buried in another thread, but I thought it was important for people to find in an easier spot.
I just found out today that TruTV has been bumped up to a more expensive package. This was done back in February, but I did not see a change in service until this week. I guess pawn shops and car chases are considered premium content. No?
I refuse to give Comcast more money, so I'll head to the bar for an extended lunch or watch our game online.
Does anyone know if this impacts the cable service the dorms have? I remembered it being basic, despite the lucky folks that got all the pay channels free.
Comcast + TruTV = Dooshes
Fuck Comcast for that, I'm with ya brother.
Any word on whether Charter has done the same?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
God damnit.
punk bitches always be grabbin at my pocket.
thats why cable gets canceled the day the college football season is over.
Remember, every game is streaming online. So if you have the right equipment (to hook your computer to your TV) and your intertubes aren't clogged, its quite a decent alternative to paying double/triple for your beer at a bar.
Though the best solution is to just get DirectTV - best tv provider for sports lovers.
This is what I usually do. Or just put CBS on and use MMOD to stream whatever the next most interesting game at the time is. Can't be bothered to flip through 4 channels, especially since I don't even get truTV.
If I figured this out on Friday, we would have problem.
Where can I watch the game online?
CBS will still stream every game from their website.
Sweet! Appreciate it.
To be fair to Comast (who I do hate) TruTV is a terrible channel that was/is not making money. Their re-runs of Cops just aren't cutting it advertising wise which is why they got bumbped.
Didn't it used to be CourtTV?
I can understand Comcast dropping it, but not if they knew it was going to be an outlet for Tournement games, which they surely did know.
It sucks for the program from an exposure point of view.
Classic Comcast. Leave the useless channel on basic when no one cares about it, then move it to a different tier the month before they know people will actually want the channel.
Stuff like this makes me happier and happier that I switched from Comcast to DirecTV.
Who has two thumbs and no regrets about switching to DirecTV?
*This Guy*
It sucks if this happened to you. I just wanted to let people know that this isn't the case in every market. I live in a suburb of Chicago and it's still on the basic package here. Channel 73.
Then again, you may not want to do this because you might get screwed between now and Friday.
Comcast knows what they're doing. Move the station to a more expensive package, wait for fans all over to subscribe to it, then laugh all the way to the bank. Even if people upgrade for the time of the tournament, then downgrade in April, that still equals millions of dollars for them.
and it is part of the Digital Preferred package on 165. Which I thankfully have in SD and HD!
I would think this is connected to the NCAA tournament and comcast trying to steal more of our money. Why I now have DirecTV.
It's not like they aren't hoarding the NFL Sunday Ticket package for absorbatant amounts or anything.
I am not defending Comcast, but your comparison is to a satellite company that is the same thing with less features at the end of the day.
Not saying there is much of a difference in a Sunday ticket regard. As far as the basic cable option though it has been quite cheaper for me. Also, with my new apartment we receive 8 channels of HBO with the basic cable option at no added cost. My apartments benefits are the extent of my knowledge of DirecTV though. As you stated I do agree Comcast has more features which could be the cause of the added price. Just stating my personal preference after using both providers.
It's 171 here in Western Wayne county if you have Comcast Digital Preferred. I'll be here!
As much as Comcast pisses me off to no end with their ever-freezing on demand and when channels go out during shows or games, I'm thankful I have them because I get Comcast Local which had alot of Michigan hockey on.
The only shitty part about that is Comcast Local is not in HD
March Madness iphone app (and android too I believe) = free, live, streaming of all tournament games.
Worth knowing about especially if job puts you IN THE AIR on an airplane during an important game - go ahead and fork over for the airplane wifi, and watch. I dont know if it will really be fast enough, but it's just money and basketball is more important, right?
