cyclicity.

It makes me appreciate those who may be less successful in strictly W/L terms, but who instill character, and have staying power.

Woody was an old man in terrible health who had lost it. Tressel was a cheat. I had a healthy hate for Woody. The disgust that most of us have had for the Tressel regime has been validated today and I expect will be validated in abundance when the SI story is released.

And there was no doubt he was done after it happened. But, the fondness, respect and admiration he and Bo had for one another was genuine. He will always be remembered for the way his tenure ended, but he was a good man. Watch HBO's "Ohio State vs. Michigan". His human quality became more evident in later years.

He actually had several reasonable things to say, but you can tell he was tore up inside.  Things weren't going to get better... timing best for OSU... first guess at new coach... Urban Meyer.  It was gleefully painful to listen to...

what a coward...can't believe he gets to walk away and not face the music.  So much for the lessons he taught the tat 5 about staying for their final season and owning up to their mistakes.  How pissed are the guys who could have jumped to the NFL right now?

This both great and terrible at the same time.  Somehow I feel that OSU will escape the hammer and get a slap on the wrist now that Tressel is gone.

will be wiping up the "puddles" in an adult theater.  Jim, you cheated, you lied, you quit.  I always thought that school down south and you were a perfect match.  F-off!

It's me again!  Told you....

Still to come out

1) Pay for play

2) Drug dealing

3) Ginn Sr. pay offs

4) Girls paid to sleep with athletes

Basketball program is next!  Stay tuned.  Hope the SI article uncovers it all.

They cheated, time to vacate those 9 wins Buckeyes.

Score:2

That would be the number of head coaches that one Terrell Pryor has had at least some influence on causing to be fired and to resign. Wish I could have seen that coming 3 years ago.

Doug Karsch just said the timing of this couldn't be any better for Brady Hoke to swoop in and get recruits out of Ohio.  He compared it to Izzo's good timing with the demise of our basketball progam.

Of course, Scott Anderson chimed in and said it's good timing for MSU as well.  Blah, blah, blah, something Spartyish.

the current thought making me giddy?  the fact that there is a significant portion of the team that blames the tat5 for this.  talk about factions where it hurts you the most.  how is pryor going to lead that team when some of them hate him?

If Tressel's scalp was all the NCAA wants to go easy on the cesspool in Columbus, they are idiots. Gee and Smith are every bit as responsible for this as the Sweater.

ESPN is a good source of some laughs.  One guy seemed like he was crying while he typed his love for the sweater vest.  I laughed as I read it but was also disgusted that people can be so dilusional.  The guy said "How appropriate that his resignation came on Memorial Day given his incredible support of our Military. Good Luck Jim, you deserved better than your players gave you off the field!!"

I don't know about anyone else, but this actually pisses me off. I wish they would have dragged this out for a lot longer. They can probably still do enough damage control right now to save the recruiting class.

If they can get a coach in waiting by midseason, they could salvage recruiting. But would be destroying their season with all the "new guy" talk. (And maybe 2 season if they're going for someone already employed).  Or they can wait, and spend the whole season with a staff recruiting half-heartedly for the school, but telling them they won't be there, but someone else will. How'd that work for us, in a season where Rich was just on the hotseat, not even fired?  They can name someone in December, but unless it's a homerun, it's scrambling just like we were. At least if Tressel coached the season, he could get some kids really connected to OSU, then have some guys carryover (like Lloyd did, and Rich did this year). As it is now, anyone who visits OSU goes knowing they'll have no idea who's going to be their coach for 6 months.  So why not go somewhere else where you KNOW who the coach will be?

I'm sure we could come up with a worse time....but it's not a good time. It never is.
