TP's "Apology"

Submitted by Ponypie on

Aptly titled article on SI.com (... apologizes, doesn't say specificaly why)

"I say sorry to all the Buckeye nation and all the Buckeye fans across the country," Pryor said. "I never meant to hurt anybody directly or indirectly with my conduct off the field and I am truly sorry."

This fits perfectly with "everybody murders," etc. After all, that kind of general nonsense could only engender non-apologies.

"I say sorry to all the meth-addicted strippers and Natty Lite swilling toothless jethroes at Hineygate and all the Buckeye memorabilia dealers across the country," Pryor said. "I never meant to hurt anybody directly or indirectly with my balloon animal act at Talbott’s kid’s birthday party and I am truly a sorry sack of sh_t."

Pryor confirmed during his brief statement that he will follow the example of fellow disgraced Buckeye Cris Carter, and enter the NFL's supplemental draft, which is expected to take place sometime in July before Auto-Direct’s Labor Day Sale-a-thon.

"I'm working hard every single day to learn what a defense is, what it means to actually take a hit and to be a better tight-end who can’t block," he said. He said he also hopes to one day become a "role model" off the field for coaches, A.D.’s and administrators so that they never make a Faustian bargain ever again "with an entitled knuckleheaded kid like me."

"In terms of coach Jim Tressel, a special unredacted e-mail shoutout," Pryor said. "I'm sorry you got caught and I apologize with all my heart that we didn’t hide the evidence better. Like I do with Ted Sarniak, I love you just like a father. You taught me a lot…like how to finance cars without a co-signor….and I apologize for putting you in a situation where you were forced through the Freedom of Information Act to reveal what a fraudulent Pat Boone snake in the grass you really are and taking you out of a job and place where you had more power than THE University of Ohio State University’s President. I regret the fact that you're not honoring Mr. Talbott’s sideline credentials anymore and I regret the fact that I'm not driving my 350Z anymore."

“And to Kirk Herbstreit, when I asked ‘Did he ever beat Michigan?’, well, I’m sorry about that, because when the NCAA is done with this whole mess here, there won’t even be any record that I actually played against Michigan.  So, he’s got that one over on me.  Sorry.”

Without Oprah or Larry King, a guy just has to schedule all of his apologies himself.  So many apologies, so little time.  If there are no more questions, @TPeazy2 has a 2:24 tee time.

Does an apology equal an admission of guilt? Not there was ever any doubt in our mind......

I wish he would have to go before the NCAA.

The only good thing that Pryor said was that he wants to graduate OSU being just 9 credits short.

I just don't care anymore about what he says or does I'm sick of him being in the sporting news for not earning it in a positive way.

In his ESPN article:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6661247

It lists the number of NFL starts at QB, per player, that OSU players have had since 1970.  If you add them all up, it's 156 total starts at QB by Buckeyes in 41 years.  Tom Brady has started 143 games.  Had he not been injured in 2008, he would have more starts than all ex-Buckeyes combined (since 1970).  Tom Brady's number doesn't count the playoffs, so if the OSU chart did, then Brady has more).

With all the QB starts we have from other guys since 1970, we would absolutely blow them away.

Funny fact from the chart - the third player on the chart reads: "Joe Germaine       0."

What is the potential effect of the NCAA forcing OSU to dissociate from Pryor on his ability to complete his degree? I think it would be extremely harsh for a student-athlete not to be able to complete something they've come so close to, but since Pryor took the emphasis off the "student" part it would be pretty sweet if he couldn't finish. In fantasy-land, he should lose the credits for semesters where he chose to take alternative compensation, but it would be punishment enough if he weren't allowed to complete the degree for a decade or so, especially since he would likely wash out of the NFL by then.

TP's apology is more than JT ever gave anyone. He is stupid but this kid is being villified in order to preserve saint Tressel's image. I almost feel bad for him. Both Pryor and Tressel made poor choices but only one is owning up to them so far.
