Today's Schedule of Games
Some interesting games today, but not as many as you would think for a Saturday in November. And it’s not even that Saturday in November when the entire SEC plays all high school teams. But still, there are some good games spread throughout the day.
Here are some highlights:
At Noon on ESPN2: Purdue at #21 Illinois. The Big Ten West is a hoot. The most fun you can have with bad football. Purdue - Illinois is for the outright lead in the Big Ten West . . . for Illinois. But if Purdue is the winner, then both Purdue and Illinois will be tied at the top of the Big Ten West (along with Minnesota), and the winner of the Wisconsin - Iowa game will also join them. Bonus game: At 3:30 PM on FS1: Wisconsin at Iowa. If Purdue wins, then take a peek at this game to see who stays on pace for the Big Ten West lead. I have no idea who will win it (and neither does anybody else), so I will go with Iowa as the home team.
In the Afternoon at 3:30 PM on ABC: Nebraska at #3 Michigan. Last week I wrote this preview about the Michigan - Rutgers game: “Michigan has established a clear trend this season . . . we crush the teams we are supposed to crush, but we take our damn good-natured time about it. There have been a bunch of blow-out wins this year that were quite uncomfortable games in the first half. So while we would all love for Michigan to get a quick 35 point first half lead on Rutgers so that JJ can practice 40 yard downfield passes to Andrel Anthony, that’s not what’s going to happen. That is not who Michigan is. And by Michigan, I mean Jim Harbaugh . . . Michigan will crush Rutgers, but they will take their damn time about it.”
Replace “Rutgers” with “Nebraska” and you have today’s write up.
Also at 3:30 PM on CBS: #9 Alabama at #11 Ole Miss. Alabama is in a very unusual position for Alabama. It’s early November and they are out of the picture for the CFP and very likely out of the picture for the SEC West. So how will Alabama play when they have “nothing to play for”? Saban’s mantra has always been “We still have all of our goals in front of us” even after a loss. And that’s been exactly right a number of times. But not now with two losses. So will just pride (and fear of Saban) be enough for Alabama to play like everything still matters? Yes, I think it will. Alabama will beat Ole Miss in Oxford.
Also at 3:30 PM on FOX: Maryland at #14 Penn State. Maryland is Ohio State-lite. And like Ohio State, they collapsed in bad weather. But I think their highly-organized proficient offense can give Penn State some trouble today in good weather. Will it be enough to beat Penn State in Happy Valley? It could very well, but I am going to chicken out and go with Penn State.
In the Evening at 7:00 PM on FOX: #25 Washington at #6 Oregon. The big game in the Pac 12. Oregon was written off early in the season after getting blown out by Georgia. Turns out that was premature . . . they are in good company with elite teams like Tennessee. They are not at Georgia’s level (who is?), but they are clearly at the level of top team in the Pac 12. Washington will make it a game for a while, but Oregon will show their class and pull away for a comfortable win.
At 7:30 PM on ABC: #4 TCU at #18 Texas. The biggest game of the day, IMO. TCU has been living on the edge, coming from behind late in the game to pull out wins over and over. That is going to catch up with them one day, and that day will be today in a night game at Texas. TCU will make a mistake late in the game and Texas will pounce and go crazy on them and win the game.
Finally, your Pac-12 After Dark Special(s) - meaningless crazy football just for the fun of it:
At 10:00 PM on ESPN: Stanford at #13 Utah. This game is Pac-12 After Dark, but it won’t be special. There won’t be any late night ju ju in this game that gives Stanford a chance for an upset. Utah will steadily overpower Stanford for the win.
At 10:30 PM on FOX: Arizona at #12 UCLA. Ditto the above. UCLA will take care of business without much Pac-12 After Dark drama.

That push off gets called interference against RUTGERS? Lol B1G officials
November 12th, 2022 at 1:28 PM ^
That’s how Coleman gets most of his catches if you’ll watch closely. Much like we used to grab a lot as a secondary under Brown and eventually got called for it, they need to start calling them on it.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
Sparty bailed out by a dubious pass interference to score the TD.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:27 PM ^
UConn helping our SoS and SoR right now.
Not that we need it.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:28 PM ^
Miyan Williams can't put any weight on his right leg.
EDIT: Carted off.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
Williams, RB for OSU, is hurt. Perhaps he and Henderson will be either out or not 100% in a couple of weeks.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
What is Schiano doing? You can't take those timeouts with you, Greg.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:35 PM ^
Shiano channeling Franklin is all I can think.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:32 PM ^
No injuries
November 12th, 2022 at 1:33 PM ^
Greg Schiano went to the Harbaugh school of before the half clock management.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:33 PM ^
Rutgers with some atrocious clock management
November 12th, 2022 at 1:36 PM ^
Another awful PI call, this time against Illinois. Took away a pick.
Next play was a Boiler TD to tie it.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:40 PM ^
Amazing how coaches - despite all their years of watching games and practices - don't seem to understand that plays take time to run. When you wait until there are 15 seconds left to call a timeout, you're leaving your team with two plays, max, before a FG attempt.
Rutgers had all three timeouts and over a minute to go when they converted their initial first down. Mind-blowing.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:42 PM ^
Schiano needs a Madden Kid
November 12th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
Don't look now but another Big 12 game is breaking out at Tennessee.
November 12th, 2022 at 1:49 PM ^
Reggie Bush looks like LumberJack-ula.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:02 PM ^
Illinois is very meh
November 12th, 2022 at 2:18 PM ^
I feel like Bielema teams have a reputation for underwhelming later in the year. This Illinois team has a good defense but their offense is so one-note that given a full year of game tape teams are figuring out how to stop them.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:06 PM ^
Bert is gigantic. He’s like the mayor in Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
His coat size must be XXXXXXXXXXL
EDIT: Would that be a CL in Roman numerals?
November 12th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
Sparty with another pass td, up 21-7 on Rutgers.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
Think Schiano maybe regrets sitting on the ball at the end of the 1st half?
November 12th, 2022 at 2:13 PM ^
Looking at MSU's closing schedule they're likely going to make a bowl but this team is a bit like last year's in terms of being fool's gold - most of their top performers are transfers or upperclassmen and I'm still not sold Tucker is really building anything here with them beyond a .500 club that can't compete at the very top of the league.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:23 PM ^
I agree with this. They’ll most likely lose to Penn St, Michigan and Ohio St every year going forward but will try to win the other games. I can see them as a 7-5 on average team. They’ll be 6-6 some years and 8-4 others. I think they’ll always drop on more game other than the 3 above.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:22 PM ^
So a 4-5 Missouri team is just randomly good against top 5 opponents?
November 12th, 2022 at 2:24 PM ^
Just shows how elite the SEC is!

November 12th, 2022 at 3:03 PM ^
It just means more...
November 12th, 2022 at 3:11 PM ^
Not to mention the vaunted LSU is currently only up 3 on 5-4 Arkansas
watching ESPN try to hype up LSU is laughable. Bama is just slightly above avg this year. It is what it is
November 12th, 2022 at 2:25 PM ^
Nice td mizzou
November 12th, 2022 at 3:02 PM ^
Take it to the tunnel guys.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:28 PM ^
So, according to the announcers, the Illinois and Purdue players were into it in the tunnel coming out of halftime. Guess it’s not just our tunnel then?
November 12th, 2022 at 2:38 PM ^
TD Rutgers - 21-14 game.
They could have used some points at the end of the 1st half!
November 12th, 2022 at 2:44 PM ^
Tennessee has a garbage defense.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:45 PM ^
Really hoping Indiana can cover. I didn't put much money on the game, but I figured the weather would be more of a factor for OSUs offense today.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:51 PM ^
People think we beat OSU because of the weather. We didn't.
We beat OSU because we had Hutchinson and Ojabo, and Stroud sucks under pressure.
November 12th, 2022 at 3:23 PM ^
Except for Stroud sucking under pressure, the rest of your take is on point. UM fans hoping bad weather will turn the game, or that think OSU is soft, are just parroting a bad narrative. OSU is not soft this year, last year was a different story.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:48 PM ^
Purdue's opponent will be kicking off from their side of midfield for the second time this season. Crazy.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:49 PM ^
Do a play off game in Ann Arbor. Bunch of softies down South, includes that way down South place Columbus, Ohio.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:50 PM ^
The best WR on the team might be playing today:
November 12th, 2022 at 2:54 PM ^
The Rutgers OL is taking over against the Sparty defense. RU driving down seven.
November 12th, 2022 at 2:56 PM ^
Looks like Arkansas will get another crack at it
November 12th, 2022 at 2:58 PM ^
Wonder what the record for 15 yard penalties is , illini and boilers must be getting close … no discipline whatsoever!!!
November 12th, 2022 at 3:00 PM ^
Razorbacks giving LSU all they can handle. Love it, I'm not sure if it will be enough.
November 12th, 2022 at 3:01 PM ^
Purdue just living off the penalties. Very uncharacteristic for a Bielema team.
November 12th, 2022 at 3:02 PM ^
Not all fair flags tbh.
November 12th, 2022 at 3:05 PM ^
Refs bending over the Illinois secondary with some of these flags
November 12th, 2022 at 3:01 PM ^
Purdue driving entirely on Illinois penalties. 45 yards on this drive so far.
