Tigers vs Indians 8-21-11, 1:05p start time
Ok, slow Sunday, lets see if it can be sparked by a Tigers win.
On the mound: Porcello vs. Jimenez, lets see if Porcello can give a quality start.
The line up:
1. Jackson CF
2. Boesch RF
3. Young LF
4. Cabrera 1B
5. Martinez DH
6. Avila C
7. Peralta SS
8. Betemit 3B
9. Santiago 2B
I don't know baseball so I have no idea what this line up means, I'll let someone else do the analysis so the bashing(the ususal)/praising(the rare) of Leyland. Ready, go.

I was at the game last night, and Detroit was rockin'. Hope the crowd can keep up the atmosphere for today's game, and we can take a 4 1/2 game lead in the Central!
August 21st, 2011 at 1:03 PM ^
Leyland should be fired for that stupid line-up. What a fuck face.
/derp

HOw do you feel about Sleeping Bear Dunes?
August 21st, 2011 at 1:04 PM ^
betemit deserves to start
August 21st, 2011 at 1:05 PM ^
But Inge is so hot right now!
/don't really care about the lineup in actuality
August 21st, 2011 at 1:26 PM ^
difference in how the game can play out. actually inge will most likely come in in the 7th as a defensive replacement.
August 21st, 2011 at 1:43 PM ^
I think it would be best to play Betamit most days and then put Inge there on days we face a dominant left-hander. If yesterday is any indication at all, Inge really figured out what he was doing wrong behind the plate.
August 21st, 2011 at 1:46 PM ^
it is more he changed his stance, he widened his feet more so he doesnt get to anxious and with that his kick will be longer so he has to wait on pitches, generating more power. he still doesnt have the best plate discipline still he almost had a kringe moment yesterday but the ump let it slide
August 21st, 2011 at 1:12 PM ^
while guillen is on the DL, this is the best lineup by far.
August 21st, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
And he's batting .500 with a 1.500 slg since he came back :)
August 21st, 2011 at 1:20 PM ^
Hey Leyland, nice lineup!
August 21st, 2011 at 1:21 PM ^
is anyone familiar with p2p free stream....it seems to be gone and Im gonna need my lions and tigers fix.....whats going on
August 21st, 2011 at 1:28 PM ^
It has temporarily moved due to some domain issues.
August 21st, 2011 at 1:30 PM ^
Porcello pitching well so far. Has good movement and accuracy. Still strange to think the kid is only 22.
August 21st, 2011 at 1:41 PM ^
following the Tigers is easy. If the Tigers win the players deserve all the credit. If the Tigers lose 100% of the blame goes to Leyland
August 21st, 2011 at 1:42 PM ^
Im always nervous when Porcello is on the mound and I still remember the Ubaldo of last year (i drafted him in like the 3rd or 4th rd for fantasy baseball d'oh!). The lineup looks nice though, hopefully Detroit can get the W, go up 4.5 games with JV pitching tomorrow night.
Go Tigers!
August 21st, 2011 at 1:43 PM ^
Is it just me, or does Brantley look like a young Carlos Guillen?
August 21st, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^
that is great asdrubal looks like he wants to cry
August 21st, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
Well, if Asdrubal's pussy hurts after getting thrown behind, he can go to the mound and get thrown on his ass like Youkilis did a couple years ago in Boston.
And I'm surprised that Joe West didn't fuck things up there. Somehow he usually finds a way to.
August 21st, 2011 at 1:52 PM ^
"come out here bitch" look after he did it but i dont think he wouldve been ejected it was at the waist and didnt hit him, if it was above the letters he wouldve been gone
August 21st, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
Warning both teams is ridiculous. It means that 1) The Indians don't get to retaliate for what was objectively a bush-league pitch by Porcello; 2) The hitters can pretty much dig in and not worry about getting pitched inside; and 3) If a pitcher does put a fastball a little bit off the inside corner, they might get tossed. Umpires used to wait for the retaliation and then warn the teams, which is exactly what should have been done here.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
I was waiting for Fat Joe to toss Porcello there.
7-0.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:15 PM ^
I agree on #2 and #3, but the Indians shouldn't be given carte blanche to retaliate. I hate the "They did it first so I get to bean the guy" crap.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
but right now it's "First team to throw at someone on purpose gets to do it for free." If Jimenez had come out and thrown behind the first batter, he would have been tossed, but Porcello would stay in, and that's not right. Baseball is a game of unwritten rules, and the players enforce those rules.
By the way, another baseball stupidity is that if Asdrubal had charged the mound, Porcello probably would have ended up with a 6-game suspension. Those punishments are never about the actual offense, they're about the reaction to it.
August 21st, 2011 at 5:25 PM ^
I agree with everything except #1 as jmblue points out. Porcello was coming inside hard on the left-handers. Look at Hafner's at-bat. I don't know that it was obviously a bush-league play on Porcello. That said, if he was throwing behind him because of watching the foul ball, its just as bush as Weaver.
It was unfortunate as you say, that both pitchers had the inner-half taken away, and both proceeded to get rocked.
August 21st, 2011 at 1:51 PM ^
Hopefully we can get that series in with the possibility of a tropical storm/hurricane in Florida.

Hopefully we can get that series in with the possibility of a tropical storm/hurricane in Florida.
August 21st, 2011 at 1:54 PM ^
If we can't get that series in, that's going to make one unholy mess of the schedule this late in the season.
August 21st, 2011 at 1:58 PM ^
All signs point to Leyland going with Inge v. lefties and Betemit v. righties. Can anyone really argue against this? What will be the new thing to complain about?
2-0 Tigers with 2 on and no outs - this team is going to turn it on now and it's going to be a fun September (and October hopefully!).
August 21st, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
Comerica park is rockin after that HR.
I see you Young.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
Delmon Young 5-0 tigers!
August 21st, 2011 at 2:05 PM ^
The Great Ubaldo is afraid to pitch on the inner half of home plate, let alone inside.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
VMART!!! Gonna know Ubaldo out of the game...
August 21st, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
HR. 7-0 Tigers.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
Victor Martinez 7-0 Tigers!
August 21st, 2011 at 2:08 PM ^
Someone's gonna get thrown at soon. The Indians are putting themselves into "nothing to lose" territory quick, fast, and in a hurry.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
Dombrowski's three midseason acquisitions (Betemit, Fister, Young) are looking pretty good right now.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
Fun fact. Rick Porcello's career record in September is 6-1. Leyland's deft handling of the pitching staff allows Porcello to be his strongest down the stretch.
2009:
3-1 record
3.22 ERA
1.24 whip
2010:
3-0 record
4.12 ERA
1.02 whip

Still remember the terror of game 163... was a good game by porcello but still can't believe they blew the division
August 21st, 2011 at 2:16 PM ^
48 pitches that inning out of Ubaldo, and Cleveland didn't even get anyone up in the 'pen.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:20 PM ^
August 21st, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
If Delmon plays a normal depth in LF instead of standing in the bullpen, he catches that on a line and we're out of the inning.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
With Cleveland's luck, look for White and Pomeranz to be competing for Cy in Colorado in two years' time.
Jiminez is DONE. Dude is pitching 91-92 on his fastball now.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:27 PM ^
Porcello's leaving too many pitches up in the zone. If he can't get through 5 after being staked to a 7-0 lead, that's piss-poor on his part.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
Hi.
Hi there.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
How many inside pitches were there after the warning? Porcello and Jimenez both looked pretty good for the first couple innings, but now hitters can dive over the plate and pull pitches on the outside corner.
August 21st, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
No, Porcello screwed himself by leaving too many crippled fastballs belt high in the zone. Santana crunched his on a pitch just like that.

they need to come here and get swept
