Signing drew would cost a draft pick. SS by committee is the way to go. Offensively they haven't missed him this spring. Lombardozzi can even play SS. It's concerning but not the end of the world

Sign Drew. He is a pro and is better than any other option the tigers have. If he is Average it is actually an upgrade over Iglesias offensively. 1 year for 9-14 million. Don't care about the pick. It's rare for a late first to outplay the player signed in his career. The negative is the money lost for signing guys in the later rounds of the draft.

They might want a multi year deal. But nobody is giving them one. The season is less than a month away. He can either sit out until June and the draft pick compensation wears off and he can take a 1 year deal or take one now play an entire season and hope for one next year. The market for an injury prone 31 year SS is not that strong multi year deals won't come.

I guess.  I'm just not sold that Drew will be a major upgrade given his suspect injury history.  I'd rather they roll with a couple of guys they have and see if a better option opens up via a trade.

It will hurt a great deal defensively, but I suspect they'll make due with a combination of Worth, Perez, and Suarez, but that's based on very little evidence.

There's a little background in the MLB.com piece - HERE

"Iglesias saw a Lakeland-based foot-and-ankle specialist last week and received an adjustment in his orthotics that he has been wearing since at least last year. The initial adjustment, adding extra cushion under the foot, made an immediate difference according to Iglesias. However, he still hasn't been able to run without pain, which has led to another round of exams."

The article also discusses how he has seen a chiropractor and a pain specialist, so between that and some mention that he had issues even before he landed in Detroit, it sounds like this is something that might have been going on for a while.

There's a reason he's still available--he ain't worth $14 mil.  He's also very injury-prone--he's missed at least 40 games each of the past 3 seasons--playing only a total 289 games--out of 486.

This is a problem that isn't going away soon. It's very unusual to hear a professional athlete has shin pain that won't go away. They need to look for other SS options right away, because this doesn't look promising.

This is a very recent article and before this, word was that they were trying to get him back before the end of the month. I'm going to try and be optimistic that he will be back by the All Star break. However, this doesn't look too promising. Dirks now Iggy.... Hopefully 2014 works some serious magic here.

considering he can't hit at all, and 3 of our pitchers are heavy strike out/flyball pitchers.  It hurts, but not really that serious, tigers will be just fine
