Ticket Buying Strategy
For Father's Day, I told my dad I'd be getting tickets for him, myself, and my brother, but I'm struggling with the best method for buying. The plan is to go to the Cincinnati game and, unfortunately, it looks like there are only individual seats left through MGoBlue, but we need 3 together. You can get them for $75 each minimum on Stubhub, but they charge $23 per ticket in fees, which is BS.
So, my question to the board is, how do you typically buy one-off game tickets, particularly for games like this that should be less competitive?
Also, if anyone has 3 together for the Cincinnati game and wants to make sure they go to an alum, let me know!
Wait until everyone gets their season tickets/ticket packs in the mail. Poeple will be unloading tickets to this game like crazy. I'd wait til August to buy, they will be cheapest a week out if you want to wait that long.
This is a good call. When do season ticket holders get their's? And, do you think Stubhub is the only way or are there better sites?
Scalpers are hit or miss. I've bought my fair share of them and all worked, however my friend did once buy a bad ticket. He actually went to ticket office and they swapped a ticket for him. There are always other fans selling at the tailgates/walking down Hoover, but it'll prob be harder to find someone selling 3 specifically.
Ebay is the best option if you don't want to pay fees, just buy from a seller with a great feedback rating. Stubhub guarantees the tickets to be good, but I doubt there will be too many fakes for a game like this.
I believe tickets should start arriving in the mail mid July but I could be off on that.
tiqiq.com is a good site, IMO. It gives you tickets from multiple sites to choose from.
Scalp or pay the fees?
Scalping makes me nervous because I think it would suck to not be together and it feels like most scalpers would have random tix.
List your interest on the ticket spreadsheet under the Schedule/Tix section. Cincinatti should be a game with a lot of avialability. You may have an issue finding someone with exactly 3 (not 4) to sell.
would just make counterfeit tickets. I don't see any way that plan could fail.
There is this spreadsheet (if you click on "schedule/tix,"at the top of the screen, you will see it) where you can sell and request tickets:

Or, if you're a fast enough runner, go see k.o.k.Law, and you can get them for free.
I wish someone that is a regular poster did something like this on the front page...
That would be so helpful...
Oh well, can't have everything in life.
with only six home games and targeting the home opener. Best bet may be from a ticket pack purchaser who only cares about the marquee game.
I've found great seats and good availability for most games
Buy low, sell high.
Stay chill.
If you are willing to put some time into it, find out where a bunch of the remaining single seats are. Then try to find a set of 2 that's available elsewhere with 2 seats next to that single ie:StubHub. The other massive benefit of StubHub versus other sites is that they are the official secondary partner of the university. Now normally that just means they paid for the endorsement. In this case though it means much more. When a seller enters the barcodes into StubHub's system to "fulfill" the order, it regenerates an entirely new barcode and invalidates the old copies. Thus, even if the original hard copy tickets get sold, you will still be the one who gains entry. Hope this helps.
The Alumni Association has a ticket exchange. There are already a pair of Cincinnati game tickets listed for sale.

Prices for this game will go down a week or two prior to the kick. Prices are higher now because folks have season ticket packages for 2-3 games, are already trying to sell the rest. Trust me, I've tried to sell tickets for games like this (good seats) and end up eating a lot by waiting too long to post on Stub Hub. With rare exception, tickets become pretty cheap if you're willing to wait until a week before the event to buy.
Wait until really close to the game (definitely less than a week; ideally within a day or two depending on your priority of getting seat locations you want vs. the best price possible). If you don't want to go the scalper route then the decrease in ticket prices (compared to where they are today) will offset the additional fees. StubHub actually has a default setting that progressively decreases the ticket prices within a few days of the event.
I wait a few days out and usually get them from stubhub. Sometimes I'll find a few cheaper than usual and grab it up, but you have to be changing stubhub all the time for that, which I do.
Stubhub. But wait until closer to the game. Non-prime games tend to have extreme price drops the week of the game as people try to offload their tickets to a game they don't want to go to.
Try to pick a smaller instruments like a flute or a trumpet, and walk in with the band. Great seats and they are very active during the game. You should be able to learn the instrument and music and motions by the end of the 3rd quarter.
Do not wear the drum major uniform. That's a mistake you only make once.
Real LPT is in the comments.
This is the home opener. If we destroy Florida, this will be a tougher ticket to get. Just accept that it takes $$$ to atttend a game ... but well worth it !
Go Blue!
Agreed and even if Florida wins in Dallas, Home Opener at M Stadium is still the opener and Cinci will command a higher price than AFA and likely Rutgers.
In past years, when the Home Schedule is stronger, I've bought someone's entire season tickets on StubHub. The benefits are having the same seats for even 3 games (Cinci, MSU & OSU) and ability to plan ahead and choose seats near our friends' season tickets. I've at times eaten a few bucks on the face value of the lesser games (Akron comes to mind) but gotten a relatively better value for the Premium Games, when compared to buying that game individually. In terms of strict dollars, it can backfire, but still be worth if if you're thinking MSU and OSU and another home game.
I have found that in the past sometimes it is easier and even cheaper to buy 4 rather than 3 - three is a strange number to own so often there are two sets of 4 sold that end up cheaper
Do you guys know if stubhub (or any scalping site) offers hard copy tickets? I like to keep them as souvenirs. I see a UPS option but I've been told that they just mail you the lame PDF paper ticket. In which case I would have just went with the e-ticket to get it faster.
