Well, Massey and TeamRankings have Arizona winning this one rather comfortably - in particular, Massey is going with a 77% win probability for the Wildcats and a median projected score of 31-21.

Massey has tonight's Seattle-Green Bay game not going the way of the Packers - 89% estimated win probability for Seattle and a median score in simulations of 30-14.

I hope I mean 5 years (6 years?)

Frankly, I started watching in 2006. It's been a rough stretch for ND since then...

2006 - sucked so much
2007 - sucked
2008 - W
2009 - sucked so much
2010 - I thought it couldn't suck more than last year
2011 - i want to die
2012 - W
2013 - just normal suck

Seems like odds are good it will suck again for them this year

I'm sitting in my Tucson living room watching this game.  I'm no more than 5 miles from the University of Arizona.  The game, of course, is in San Antonio.

UTSA better do a better job of tackling or this is going to be a long night for them.

Well, that was a fast score for Arizona and looked oddly familiar. Explosive offense, quick scoring. Let's see how their defense is. I'm guessing it will suck this season, but this is UTSA, so they will likely look good tonight.

Well that was a fun start up there!

I'm actually looking forward to some NFL football tonight.  That's a rare thing to say these days, personally, but I'm ready to see some football.  I'll peep Arizona a bit too, see what 2014 beholds for RichRod.

Soundgarden played a free pre-game concert in Seattle. My office is across the street from the football stadium and yesterday I went outside right as they were doing a soundcheck. Evidently Soundgarden's idea of a soundcheck is just to play all of"Rusty Cage," so that was a nice surprise.

Weird....watching RR's offense it seems like a stone age spread offenes compared to what you see at Auburn/A&M.

Still works but just looks like it is way to basic compared to some offenses of today.

>> Simple or not it works.

That 780 was against UNLV, which is hardly in the league of Oregon, USC, UCLA, or Arizona State.

>> (JT4104) "it seems like a stone age spread offense compared to what you see at Auburn/A&M."

I'm thinking something similar.  This season and the next few will tell the story, but my sense is RR's offense was revolutionary in its day, but defenses have caught up.  Other offenses are leading edge now.  I'm not smart enough in football X's and O's to explain why, however.

It's really not as impressive as it looks. We could have put up 780 yards last week along with a lot of other teams. But we called off the dogs and Arizona wasn't able to do that until late in the 3rd quarter. UNLV is probably the worst team in the FBS.

I always said he ran "read option spread 1.0". Teams like Oregon, Auburn, etc are on versions 8.2 and shit. He runs the same basic formula he helped make mainstream in FBS CFB back in the early 2000s. It might work but it's easier to defend with the defenses equipped to stop it now. Better teams can beat it up. RR needs to hit that upgrade button.

Didn't know Griffey's son plays for AZ until now. That's pretty cool. I'm glad he chose a real sport to play.
