My favorite part of the last day or so is that after the dread of losing to us twice in a row has worn off, every OSU fan/media person has decided they NEED to control the narrative on why they lost. They may have lost twice in a row but at least they think they were right about why!

Currently they are arguing that they had a much better offensive success rate than Michigan so they really out played us. It was just a failure to execute on the big plays that cost them. The connection between Michigan’s lower offensive success rate and their high risk defensive strategy that directly resulted in the big plays is apparently lost on them.

I really hope this is the lesson they take from this and keep playing a defense that requires perfection from all their players. Watching Michigan players break 50 plus yard TD plays against Ohio State will always be fun.

I love watching the internal struggle happening in their tiny little lizard brains revolving around our teams level of competence. They so desperately want to say we're terrible at football, a useless team that trips over their own feet, and could never beat anybody, but at the same time we dominated them, at home, and their ONLY argument for them to get into the playoff is that they lost to a good football team, which they REFUSE to say. It's so beautiful.

Paying zero attention to 11W has kept my sports fan quality of life quite high. I am not risking it by engaging with the other team’s fan website. The only narrative I care to indulge is this: 45-23.

I would definitely take the last two seasons. Funny how a football game can elevate one's spirt.

One thing that was said in the 11 Warriors piece was more than a bit disturbing.  Here's the quote:

Or can you? Because right now it looks like the Buckeyes are one USC upset away from getting in anyway (not that's something I actually want right now), and once the College Football Playoff expands, as long as the Buckeyes win 10 or more games they're good to go. So who knows what this conversation looks like when that happens?

What makes the Game so big is that it is largely win or your national championship dream is over.  It is an all or nothing scenario.  This time our future is bright and the Buckeyes' future this year is dismal.

Will increasing the number of teams eligible for the playoffs diminish both The Game and winning division and conference championships?

i wouldn't take the opinions of any one person on 11W to reflect the sentiments of the entire fan base.

However, the idea of OSU looking at all toward the 12-team playoff suggests to me that the poster is giving up somewhat on beating us as a realistic goal. 13 months ago, I'd never thought I'd hear that sort of talk from anyone in their base.

The post wasn't full of the greatest analysis, but at least the poster recognized that Harbaugh now has their number.

Think of it this way: In 2017, Alabama lost to Auburn but then beat Clemson and UGA to win the CFP. Would Bama fans trade the National Championship for a win in the Iron Bowl?

Last year UGA lost to Alabama in the SECCG then the CFP, beating Alabama. Do UGA fans really care that they didn't win the SEC in 2021?

Bo - let me get this straight. You're telling me that we scored nearly as many points in this year's game (45) as what they scored in the last 2 games combined (50)? Why, that's astonishing. I find that hard to believe. You must have made an error in your math. Can you crunch the numbers again, just to be sure?

Honestly, most weeks Threat Level: Michigan is usually an entertaining read in the same way watching low-budget B horror movies are: overwrought production, spastic flailing, and overacted cheesy dialogue. It's my sports fandom equivalent of junk food.

And, much like junk food, I have to ration my intake after Michigan victories over aOSU given the overwhelming salt content.

This is hilarious and made me think; OSU used to be Defensive Back U what the hell happened?

A lot of heroes on Saturday, but IMO the difference of Michigan's vs OSU's defensive back end wrote the story of the game.

'The scheme that they played on Saturday didn't exactly lend itself to great secondary play. Stuffing 7-8 guys in the box to stop the run left their CB's and safeties in a position where they had to either make a sensational play or go back and line up for our extra point try.

As an example, on that second TD by Johnson, he caught the ball alone in the middle of the field, turned up, and starting hauling ass at the safety who was flat-footed and also alone in the middle of the field. What does that safety do? He's got no angle on Johnson, has no idea which way Johnson is going to cut, has no idea which way to turn, Johnson is flying toward him, and he's got no help. I have no idea what you can tell a safety to do; maybe turn one way and hope you get lucky in Johnson not seeing your choice.

To be fair, Ginter does spend quite a few words roundaboutly telling the reader what he learned, which was essentially that a program that makes tidy sums of cash should probably not be losing in that manner at home, in a situation where the implications are huge. He did sort of work himself at least partly though that line of reasoning. What was missing is direct criticism of how Ohio State seems to perceive itself, which is something that certainly affects how they play and something many on the outside have spoken about in the last couple days.

Not from that article, but doesn't deserve it's own thread. Three Key Stats has a nice gem at the bottom.
