We still had it worse last year.  Our woes were on the national news two nights in a row for all to see.

People who knew nothing about college football were coming up to me and commenting on how bad things must be at Michigan.  And I had to agree.

I am unable to comment on this news item.

The truly sad thing for Bevo,is that he will need to travel to Texass A&M for treatment.  sort of like being sent to East Lansing...

I really hate how schools have real animals for their mascot (or in addition to their person mascot). It's cruel and unnecessary.

Have you ever actually taken care of animals in a zoo? Ever worked on a farm or ranch? Or is your worry about these animals based solely on the deep research you've conducted on the Internet for, like, hours?

Zoos are ridiculous. You really think the animals (and other creatures) like being locked away to be stared at? They should be in their natural habitats.

You just answered my question.

  • You have no data (even from the interwebz, apparently)
  • You have no relevant experience

Therefore, anything you write from here on out will be filtered by everyone who reads it as a product of your uninformed, speculative imagination.

Since you're new to this site and all, you should be aware that although we often disagree with one another's conclusions, we come armed with FACTS.

That is the worst one. The poor tiger is stuck in a fucking cage. Like, come on. That is ridiculous. Zoos are bad enough for these animals, but this LSU tiger has to be in a small cage. Yeah, GREAT life for that animal. Nice job, LSU. *sarcasm*

I do not know how that is legal, too.

Mike the Tiger has a 15,000 square foot habitat. He's in a cage when they take him to games. If you're against animals in captivity in general (zoos, circuses, etc.), I suppose that's a defensible perspective, but you're just making stuff up now out of ignorance. At least have an educated point of view before spouting off.

So am I safe to assume that you are a vegetarian? As while it may be cruel and dastardly to put animals in cages and zoos, it would be even more cruel and dastardly to actually raise them, feed them, and care for them for the sole purpose of chopping off their heads and eating them.

Steers/cattle are domesticated animals and have been for thousands of years. They are not unlike dogs, in that sense. All those "wild" horses and cattle you see roaming out west are actually feral.

And dogs didn't start out as pets. They were domesticated and bred over millennia. There is no such thing as a "natural pet."

I'd say the common domestic/small house cat is a natural pet.

We had tons of grain which brought mice\rats, the cats came to eat the mice\rats, the people treated the cats nicely in return.  There was some special breeding later but initially cats domesticated themselves, or humans depending on how you want to look at it.

And once the flash goes off, those cheerleaders will be viciously mauled... Michigan did have pet wolverines... Benny and Biff were their name but they weren't tamable.

they can get quite jazzed about people, not much different than a dog, and love the excitement.  i can't say that i've watched closely over the years but i've never seen any of their mascots look distressed. i know some of our cows, bulls and steers can be quite friendly.  nothing like petting a 2,000 lb dog with horns the size of a flag pole.

and i'd bet when he's not 'on duty', he lives like a king.  so there is that.

As much as we make light of the situation in Austin and the misfortunes of Texas lately, this really does have to be a distressing thing for them in the locker room this week, especially given the long history and how well-loved Bevo has always been. Hopefully, Bevo gets well and can represent the Longhorns again at some point in the season.

Can the football gods take any bigger of a shit on Texas this year?

Really hope Texas is able to make it a game this weekend, as I feel like this could be a true defining moment for Strong's program, one way or another. Sadly I feel like this will be a 45-3 Oklahoma kind of affair, and the cries for Strong's removal will only get louder.
