Ten years ago today, we stormed the field

A couple of posters have wondered whether we'd storm the field tomorrow if/when Michigan beats Ohio State. Ten years ago, we did just that when we beat a Luke Fickell-coached team after Tressel resigned in disgrace. I think that was the year the Ohio State AD realized they always had to have someone as competent as the current head coach waiting in the wings just in case the same thing happened again, which it did. In any event, with Thanksgiving behind us, it's time to focus. As the Fab Five said, let 'em hang baby and Go Blue!

So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters

I’m taking two of my daughters to the game tomorrow, and we’ve already planned to do this very thing. See you on the field at 4:00pm.

I stormed the field that day, even then it felt a little lame but I didn't know if I would ever get the chance again so I did! BTW, that wall is taller then you think it is!!

I was there although I did not storm the field.  I was more than a bit happy about what I thought might suggest a change to a more balanced series with OSU.  That didn't happen.

I'm hoping tomorrow gives us another opportunity to storm the field, and it is now looking like snow is in the forecast.

2019 killed it for me.  About $1200 with the license fee included to freeze our butts off and lose big. That took care of season tickets. I will always be a serious Michigan fan, but I'm done paying the absurd prices to go to games with rare early season exceptions. I'm not suggesting that others should follow my course of action but with the interminable timeouts, and the direction the program was heading along with costs, I no longer could justify what season tickets were costing us.

was very happy that freshman braxton miller overthrew a wide open and certain TD in the 4th quarter.  unfortunately that was the last bad thing that ever happened to ohio when they've played us.

What's been so remarkable about OSU's run of dominance—that really began in 2001—is how so consistently the Buckeyes have made critical play after critical play, coupled with how often Michigan has failed to make critical play after critical play.

We're consistently not catching easy TD passes, dropping easy INTs, missing wide open receivers, committing inopportune penalties, etc etc etc while OSU has consistently taken full advantage of similar opportunities.

They've simply played better, game after game. Especially at QB.

Mental toughness and a huge psychological edge. They can play so much more relaxed than Michigan can because they have two decades of utter dominance at their back. They know that they can be down three TDs going into the fourth quarter and remain calm, because they still believe that they can win. Not just believe they can, but know that they will.

Meanwhile, Michigan is likely coming into every game believing it has to play perfect in order to win. When you do that, you play tight, and forces you into making bad mistakes at inopportune times.

I don’t think Michigan is afraid of OSU, per se. They are men, flesh and blood like everyone else. But I do believe that in the past, Michigan has been terrified at the idea of of making mistakes in this game, because they know what its led to. And its just turned into a self-fulfilling prophecy. Michigan turns the ball over, commits a stupid penalty on fourth down, unties an OSU player’s shoe laces, and before you know it you’re already down 21-6.

I was there with my college roommate and remember it was in the 60s. Didn't storm the field (used to go on the field after games in the 1980s when the wall was just 3 or 4 ft high) that day but just might if we win again.

Going to this game was well with my college roommate - we'll see. Go blue!

I was there for the 1989 win, and although the field was 'stormed', it was a pretty calm 'storming'.  We were walking around the field just taking it all in while the band played the alma mater.

You remember the 1989 OSU game - it was Bo's last.  He retired following that season.

I was there and remember when that happened, I said to a couple of OSU fans in our section "It's a good thing your QB can't throw". My wife and I went down on the field to bask in the afterglow of the victory that day.

Tomorrow if Michigan is victorious I'm going to light up a Macanudo in the stands when the clock goes to triple 0's.

I was 50 the last time we beat them, and now I'm too old for any on field hijinks.
